Extremely Reliable German Engineering
My golf is 2002 and has just passed the 310000 mile mark. She starts without trouble all year round and doesnt take much work to get through mot. Easy on fuel doing approx 50 mpg. Before this I had a ford, wont be in a rush tobuy one of those again. Volkswagens are above average car price but definitely save moneyin the long run.

Most Reliable Car Ever
It has never broke down once or had any major expensive repairs in 11 years and 225000 miles. very efficient especially on the motorways. Looks great but is noisy now it's old which I like but some won't and is very slow. great practicability and very comfortable.
1999 Golf Sdi
The car makes you feel safe, has plenty of room and has a very well built and thought out interior. My golf has had several gearbox issues and I would avoid buying one with the earlier linkage gearbox like my own. The gearbox was changed to a cable operated one is 2000 and these are far better. The fuel economy is average, you have to put your foot down a lot more to make it move at any speed which leads to a realistic mpg of about 45 which is that same as a tdi. The engine is too underpowered and too loud. Traveling at over 60 is unpleasant and driving on the motorway at 70 -80 sounds like the engine will give at any minuet. Having said this, it has all the room you could ever want and is a Volkswagen. I would not buy a sdi again however I do not regrett buying this one.

Ive Had My 51 Plate Sdi For 6 Months Now, And I Ha
Ive had my 51 plate SDI for 6 months now, and I have to say in terms of build quality and reliability it is superb. However, the handling is poor-takes a good turn of the wheel before anything happens. Also, dont be fooled by the claims of economy. I had a TDI previously and had the same fuel economy as the SDI, the engine is too weak to lump such a big car about and hates any kind of hill. My advice is to buy a VW diesel, but with a turbo. Or a BMW diesel which give you the same performance and economy, with a far better drive and handling.

Bought My '03 Vw Golf Sdi 6 Months Ago And Expect
Bought my '03 VW Golf SDI 6 months ago and expect to keep it a while as it is so cheap to run.I regularly get 55-60 mpg on mostly short runs and at 70 mph on the motorway it really does sip fuel. What it lacks in BHP it makes up for with torque and I find myself using the gearbox a lot less than any petrol engined car I have owned, which makes for a more relaxed drive(maximum power is at 2200 revs) The cabin is surprisingly spacious and overall the car has the feel of a larger one. I even tow a small 2-berth caravan, which at 850 kgs is the maximum recommended by VW and certainly don't hold up any traffic, I just have to use a bit more "right foot" and change down sooner for hills. Overall a pleasure to own and I would recommend to anyone seeking a no frills quality car with outstanding economy.

Over All This Volkswagen Golf 1.9 Sdi E Car Is Gre
Over all this Volkswagen Golf 1.9 SDi E car is great to drive, handles great and even better with alloys, but smoothness of the ride is sacrificed. This is probably the most economical and low insurance Golf you could own, even though there are no extras, not even a CD player, it is box standard. The car is not a rocket like the TDi, it does take its time to move but it's not too bad once engine is warm. Excellent mpg for motorway if you stick to the speed limit and great around town. It has enough space for 3 grown men in the back with enough leg space with a good size boot. I am now considering to buy a Golf 1.6 or a Seat Leon 1.6, just for a little more speed.

The Car Has A Great Handling And You Feel Safe In
The car has a great handling and you feel safe in it. A bit noisier than the petrol engine but the savings on fuel justify that. So far I have not had less than 600 miles out of a full tank. Very basic model and lacks extras like electric windows, central locking, A/C etc. However, on the other hand there are less things to worry about as repairs on the above extras could cost you a good holiday if they go wrong.
