I Have Only Recently Bought My 2006 Jet
I have only recently bought my 2006 Jetta 2.0 tdi SE which I bought from my local main dealer. A friend of mine has had a Golf for 6 years which has been very reliable, and the Jetta is basically a Golf with a boot. I had always thought that main dealer prices were a bit of a rip off but was pleasantly surprised at my local main dealer which is probably the biggest in Wales. The car was 3 yrs old in mint condition, one owner, low mileage with full vw history and quite a few factory fitted extras on top of what is a pretty high spec vehicle. The asking price was £450 above book price but the car came with 1 yrs full VW warranty and 1 yrs full VW uk and european breakdown cover, and I also had £850 above trade in price for the Fiat that I part exchanged. On motorway driving just staying legal and using the cruise control I'm getting 58mpg and driving around town I'm getting 46mpg, which I am very very pleased with. If I bought a new Jetta with same spec it would cost more than double what I paid at around £21,000 and VW servicing is quite a lot cheaper than the Fiat. So far I have found plenty of Pro's and very few con's such as the small bit of turbo lag pulling away when in a higher gear and the fact that as it's a 4 door it's a bit tighter entering and exiting the car as I'm 6' 4" . Overall the car is very comfortable for driving long distances, very nippy and very frugal. The boot is nothing short of huge and the load through in the rear seat is great for carrying my fishing gear. I would have no hesitation in recommending this model.

I Bought My Vw Jetta In 2000 And Problem After Pro
I bought my VW Jetta in 2000 and problem after problem ocured
The TDI engine was very fuel economic but you got to change the turbo at 100,000km and its not cheap
As for the electrical good luck from A to Z everything will let you down.
And all the plastic trim is bitter, the glove compartment hinges are moulded to the panel and when you decide to jam something in will break.
Do not slam the doors as the glass will fall down.
Etc, etc.
What a nightmare of a car.
But I must admit the driving is awesome and the TDI will give you 1,000km a tank but that's where it stays.
I would recommend the car to the inlaws.

The Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 Family Car Is Very Reliab
The Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 Family Car is very reliable and has by far the most comfortable back seats I have ever been in on an economy car. I actually have the 1.8 Liter Turbo model made in the USA, and it has more speed, better performance, and better handling than most other cars on the highways.

Ode To Jetta Your Gleaming Emblem Symbo
ODE TO JETTA
Your gleaming emblem symbolizes a work-ethic and a commitment to
customer satisfaction...Volkwagen is "The People's Car," after all.
Thoughts of Deutschland, but Made in Mexico. Stout in theory,
yet fragile in execution. An odious marriage it hath been.
I fell in love with your seductive Euro-image, but before long, things went
wrong with you in so many ways. Handicapped at birth, you're just not up to
the task of normal function. Is it too much to ask, that you last?
Life support. Slow decay. Constanly hooked up in the service bay.
Would Death come quick, we'd both be spared the repeated cycle of
Roadside Assistance, ambulatory ride to dealer for "rare disease" cure,
new "rare disease" emergence. Poor wretch, ignoble beast. Trying to
serve, you've died a thousand deaths. No car should suffer so
terribly the indignation of wearing the moniker, "World's Most Unreliable
Car."
Why you?
VW's maquiladora tinkers at the Puebla factory undo your Teutonic magic
on paper, but don't rush to blame Mexican labor. VW knows it slaps you
together like a child's cheap plastic toy because they get away with it.
Okay, so you're not "The Ultimate Driving Machine," but should Marx's
"The Big Wheel" cost $25,000? Inoperative heated seats, falling windows
and ignition coils that can't be replaced fast enough in a new car encapsulate
the obvious truth: you are a poor excuse for any machine because VW
doesn't intend to embody you with jewel-like reliability. The emblem lies.
Alas, dear Jetta, you look sweet but due to heartbreaking unreliability and
dishonesty I can no longer love you.
This is clearly a heart broken man but he needs to understand why vw went to mexico?
Cheap labour, cheap parts and technology.
Result!! CHEAP CAR!!

This Is My Second Bora/jetta 2.0 - I Enjoy Driving
This is my second Bora/Jetta 2.0 - I enjoy driving it to work just like the first day. Convenient controls, excellent dashboard design (smooth lines, ideal for long distance driving), excellent ABS breaks, very stable, great mileage per gallon too (about 25 miles/U.S. gallon). Back middle seat not an issue if small children involved, adults might have some trouble. Despite its size, large individuals have no problems feeling comfortable. Incredibly easy to park and maneuver.
