I Don't Think So
These vans are rubbish. There rattly, uncomfortable and bad quality. No wonder why they went bust. Mercedes sprinters, Ford transits and Iveco's are much better. Proper vans.
You don't understand that LDV Convoy's are not rubbish. Although Transit's take more wear and tear, the LDv Convoy is rewarding if treated with respect. People have not respected them in the past, which is why they are rattly. You are obviously are not an expert. Either you have not maintained it well or you don own one and are just guessing.

Ldv Convoy 51reg 17 Seat Minibus Day Van/camper Conversion
absolute fantastic van. i love it. 10000000000% reliable no matter what the weather. looks, sounds and drives great. superb handling and does everything asked of it no matter what you throw at it. i dont understand why anybody would want to drive any other van. crappy sprinters that rot away whilst youre driving them, over rated transits, awful french offerings..... i would have a convoy over any other van. load area of convoy is magnificent as theyre wider than other vans and the height is superb. i love my convoy and feel proud and priviledged to own it. i cannot recommend an ldv convoy strongly enough.
Exactly, my favourite van is the Convoy

LDV Convoy are very solid trucks, I use them as tippers so are usually over the weight limit. If you can tie something to it, it will pull it towing, a 10 ton jcb is about the biggest load. Parts are expensive and badly manufactured from main dealer but as it has transit running gear they can be obtained elsewhere. The gear ratios are not the best thought out. I would not change these trucks with the york engine for the world, they make the imports and the transit rust buckets look worthless. I would recommend these trucks to anyone but you need to be able to repair them yourselves as that's when the money starts.

I Recently Bought A 2003 Model For £2400 Wi
I recently bought a 2003 model for £2400 with 1 previous owner (Royal Mail) and only 21000 miles. Bought it off eBay from a guy who has a spare parts business. He bought it from an auction where big companies sell old vehicle fleets, don't know which auction house, somewhere near east of Thames near the sea. Immaculate condition throughout. Was used to drop off and pick up posties and their bicycles so wasn't used as a work horse to deliver parcels etc. Has only 8 seats including driver so back half of van was used to hold bikes. I'm planning to go on a few winter missions around the south of the UK with friends and family and then going to convert to campervan and travel around Europe next summer. I got insurance through wrightsure who matched an internet quote of around 500. They insured me with Norwich union and insurance includes full rac cover in the UK and 3 months in Europe which some other insurance companies charge £10 per day for. I've heard it's the widest van on market which I ' d believe as I ' m 6'1" and can lye down sideways in the back without touching the walls. In process of calculating the fuel efficiency so can't comment on it yet. Mine is limited to 62mph (100ish kph) but I cruise at 50mph (80kph) as it's more relaxing and I've heard it's the best speed for fuel efficiency. I had an LDV pilot van before this one and its perfect reliability and economy and cheap price and fact it was never vandalized when left out on street for a year made me love the LDV. Advice: arrange viewings and test drive as many vehicles as you can afford, so what if a train costs £10 and your time, it's worth it, also take someone who can smell a rat and knows roughly what to look for in a vehicle i.e. will identify strange noises, pedal movement, rust, hinges, etc. I hope you've enjoyed this review - I never write reviews but there were some good ones on here so I thought I ' d also share my passion for LDV. Don't get me wrong though - Royal Mail thrashes some of their vans so beware - low mileage is important I reckon.

Highly recommended. Affordable to buy, mine is ex-MOD and very low mileage. Being used to older vans this Convoy is a dream to drive, glided across France, Spain and Portugal, and averaged 31 mpg on one 300 mile run. Great space inside especially ability to stand up, pays for itself with being good work horse. No problems so far.
