Initially I Was Not To Impressed With My Probe Gt,
initially i was not to impressed with my probe gt, but once i sorted out the electrical
distributor problem by replacing it, i havent had a problem.it gets a lot of use these days and is an economical car to run, plus it looks the part and drives and handles really well. i would happily recommend one, just make sure it has been regularly serviced and looked after, and you should have a great vehicle at atnext to nothing cost !i have owned a few sporty cars, like r33 skyline, 2x300 zx coupes, and i think the probe is a much more relaxing drive, and more comfortable !

These Are Great Cars , Aging Gracefully, But You D
these are great cars , aging gracefully, but you do need to spend money to bring them back to a reliable vehicle . replacement of cam belt, tensioner, idlers, waterpump, plugs, and hopefully not the distibutor or fuel pump will get it up to good reliability. i had to replace my v6 gt distributor [ cost $1565 ] and the fuel pump , you have to drop the tank, its a pain , total cost of that $265, i have spent all up about $3000, but in australia these were a $45,000 car ,so buying it cheaply with a mint motor ,body and interior, and its a 1996 v6 gt , was worth the spend. it stops steers and handles well, the economy is good too. if your not a car person ,this is not for you , but if you love to tinker and are an enthusiast, you will love your probe.

Probes Are Great Cars As Long As You Service Them
probes are great cars as long as you service them regularly, every 5000klms, the most common faults are distributor problems, and minor oil leaks via the rocker gaskets.usually replacing the distributor fixes the major ignition module/crank angle sensor problems , which i did, and i put in a new fuel pump, absolute total reliability since. i use mobil 1 5w-50 oil, puralator oil filters, ngk plugs, k and n air filter and fuel filter. my car had been looked after, but still needed alittle fettling, it was worth doing, its now a great car.

I Own 2 Probes And I Have To Say They Are Amazing
I own 2 Probes and I have to say they are amazing cars, good looking, they have great handling and almost surreal to drive, it really does feel like your driving something special.
As for faults I have not had any at all but they have both been fully serviced from new and well looked after. service your probe every 3000 miles.
When viewing a probe, check the sunroof for rust, check pop up lights pop up, check service history, and all electrics work properly, go for low mileage, I got mine for £750 with 32k on the clock.
Once you have driven a probe you'll wonder why ford have lost all creativity
with there modern cars- ka, fiesta, mondeo, focus. They don't even come close to the probe in terms of sheer surreal pleasure.

had the chance of driving a mustang cobra straight from the dealer and on my opinion ill stick to the probe.
as they say in other reviews the only letdown is the front wheel drive besides that I love this Ford Probe 2.5 V6.

I Have Owned 2 Of These Ford Probe 2.5 V6 And The
i have owned 2 of these Ford Probe 2.5 V6 and the same electric fault has appeared on both, and not a cheap fix either. Other than that the drive is nice the engine sounds good to. but the biggest let down is the front wheel drive, which was shocking as its a american car for there market. i mean the power can be delievered so much better if it went to the back. as going round corners is a slow process. ha. this car is good but i wouldnt have another.

I Have Always Looked At Finally And Opted To Move
I have always looked at finally and opted to move from my Saab 9000 to the awesome probe. I absolutely love it. The lads at work laugh at me as I use it for the school runs with child seats in it but I hammer it at weekends. Small wheels and light steering under acceleration but great fun for no money. 65K full service history for little over a grand! I want to keep my 'green(silver)' one with tan leather interior original. Lovely cheap good looking car.

Do You Remember The Ford Probe 2.5 V6? We All Wan
Do you remember the Ford Probe 2.5 V6? We all wanted one, more exclusive than a 3 series, classier than an MR2 and faster than a Merc and yet so few sold? Now these superb cars are just criminaly cheap. £1500 buys the nest. Get a 24V if you can afford the fuel bills because the grunt at 60Mph scares your WRX boys and its burble is just lovely. The 16V is not the poor relation, it's a lovely car and a worthy contender for your pound. Whatever you buy, visit ukpoc.co.uk for great help.
I've had dozens of cars from £100 to £35K and this Probe is the best. It's a keeper! Buy one and realise what you always knew, it's good to be different.

Well, I Owned An Electric Blue 16v Ford Probe, And
Well, I owned an Electric Blue 16v Ford Probe, and loved it to bits. Over the 3 or 4 years that I owned the car, I modified the car to be a '24v-look-alike'. This involved changing the cloth interior for grey leather, fitting a powerflow exhaust to get a nice tone from the car, fitting 24v style alloys and the 24v style cladding to the sides of the car (this sadly was never fitted to a 16v standard)
I sadly had an accident in the 16v and so when it came to replacing it, It was already decided to get another Probe.
I didnt have the time to modify another 16v as I had the last, so the obvious choice was to get a 24v V6.
I was lucky enough to find an 1997 Ebony Black V6 with Black leather interior and the much sought after late 24v alloys.
The choice to buy a 24v was the best choice that I could have made, the sound of the exhaust as I put my foot down in the V6 was lovely (I have since added my modified powerflow box from the 16v to the 24v)
The completely black interior is just awesome compared to the more common grey/black interior (and much better with muddy marks on the carpet)
The extra power is really nice too (although it seems that my 16v was a fairly quick car for a 16v anyway) but the 24v comes into its own over the 16v model when it comes to the smoothness of the ride. I have no problems with the ride in a 16v, but after driving one for 2 years and then getting in a 24v, the extra smooth, comfortable ride is very noticable.
All Probes have a few common problems that along with the name and undeserving bad reputation from the press have made this car a seriously good buy for anyone wanting a car that is something a little different to the majority of cars on the road, at sensible money. All of the common problems are easily fixed (Follow the club link at the end of this review)
Whatever you hear/read....please dont believe any bad of the car - get in one and drive it. Then you will see its all nonsence and that the Probe is a real joy to drive and to own.
If running costs are not such a problem, then I thoroughly recommend the 24v V6 Probe, but otherwise look for a 16v Probe. You wont be dissapointed either way
