Slow

192ps not likely. More like 140 if you're lucky. Not as fast as a Mazda 3 and doesn't handle any better either. Fuel consumption is an abortion

Lovely Everyday Sports Car! The 8

I own a 2004 RX8 done little over 100.000k kilometers, no problems whats so ever. I have to say that this is probably the best car i have ever driven. That is because it manages to be fun, fast, good looking, comfortable ansd exiting at the same time. Many cars nowdays seem to be just designed to go from point a to b. Now while that is ofcourse a great thing, they lack that fun and good feeling of pure driving. Besides normal cars dont make you smile every time you sit in it and start the engine! I love it in every aspect. Only thing that is not so brilliant is really the fuel consumption, i get about 100km/10-11 litres. Also i have heard some people complaining about the oil consumption. It is really not that bad and it sure does not. Consume 1litre of oil / 1000km more like a few desilitres. Also it is a good habit to check the oil frequently to know that the engine really is in condition. Anyway you look at the car there will be more pros than cons. One thing i hate is people WHO complaing that rotaries broke up after certain mileage etc. Simplyy that is not true, usually the complainers are also the one's that dont drive a rotary powered car. also japanese quality for the win!

The Growling Beast

Be prepared when driving this car for the full range of human reactions. From the admiring, as I would be, to the envious, jealous and the just plain dangerous. My Local BMW. and Audio car owners ( apart from I think 2 ! )absolutely hate me.And it is, like a red rag to a bull, as opposed to the yellow car with this review, when they see in the rear view mirror, the Red flared wheel arches.I knew about the insane petrol and oil, so no beef about that. You have to drive it, it does chug at low revs. Mine, unlike some of your Reviewers, will start repeatedly.............you have to fully dip the clutch and leave the accelerator alone when you start. Not once has it flooded. The road holding is phenominal, an attempted hand-break turn at 100mph MIGHT turn it over......but i doubt even that.My last car was a "shed" waiting fir the scrap man, however in the distant past I did own a Probe, so I'm used to high speed. This cars acceleration however, negates the need to choose the right lan, in no matter how many lanes there are..............my son says.He like a few others, just want you to rev the engine.........a real geek!

My one very serious complaint surrounds the ......cigarette lighter. Large male fingers have to negotiate the really great gear lever, and slide round the lighter, by which time you have dislocated a few fingers and driven one-handed for a while...........which just winds the Audi and BMW drivers up even more.Forget the Bentleys.............especially with no rear insignia, but generally theres not much in my area to see this car of.

I'm intending to buy, 2 window Union Jacks, which I agree are naff, but imagine the French mens reaction to that car rolling down the champs Elysee !

I Have Always Loved The Rx8 Since It Was Launched.

I have always loved the RX8 since it was launched. For me it is a beautiful car. I owned a TT and I get a lot more attention in the RX8. I love the handling this car offers. Mazda have always been renowned for their handling and reliability. I love the fact, in order to get the most out of this car you have to drive it in the correct gears. This is a real drivers car. I love the suicide doors. I like the fact you get a decent boot space.I decided on the 192ps model compared to the higher spec model as the 192ps churns out more torque than the 231ps model. I cannot express how much I love this car. This car comes standard with a great BOSE sound system. So far I have had this car nearly 3 months and done 5,000 miles. Not once, have I had a problem with the car. The only drawback with this great machine is that it drinks petrol at an astronomical rate. However, if you can look past that, then this is a practical everyday car for you and the family.

Bought My Mazda 192bhp Rx8 4 Months Ago And Have D

Bought my Mazda 192bhp RX8 4 months ago and have done 7000 business and holiday miles in it so far. Averages about 27 mpg and 1/2 litre oil every 1000 miles. Starts up on sunny or winter conditions no problem. No miss-fires, flooding etc. It has not let me down....touch wood. There is a lot said about it being a rotary engine but you would'nt notice....except the oil usage, but isnt it supposed to do that? I ran a few 2 stroke motorbikes as a teenager; so not big deal really; I just treat it like a big bike.

I've Had None Of The Reported Engine Flooding In M

I've had none of the reported engine flooding in my MAzda RX-8. Oil comsumption is not as bad as I was led to believe - needs about 2 litres every 3,000 miles. Fuel economy is what you expect from a car that revs to 9000! If your concerned about that, buy a family deisel. The spec leather upholstery is a class above for the money, throw in the performance and styling and you have one sexy motor car. If Carling made coupes for 4 then they would make this one! Need I say more.
