I have owned my ZT 190 for approx 6 years and can't rate the experience highly enough for value for money and smiles. Excellent on the twisty A/B raods to/fro work, will pull a good size 24ft caravan with ease, nails the expensive BMW 330's, Audi A4/6's etc on a regular basis on the commute. Very reliable (fuel pump and radiator cap and a few bulbs only things gone in time i've had it) Tyres are not that expensive as some people say if you look around - had plenty of experience of this having 14 tyres in my time with the car!, good quality Kumo's (as used in racing formulas)- two for £170 all in not bad. Space a bit tight for my kiddies in back with their clobber, but hey they can't drive yet so are best kept happy by pretending the road is a Scalextric track as I drive!! Overall great car, sorry to see it go when it eventually dies cant think what to have next other than another V6 or V8 poss, think I'll try a Mustang.

Since 2002 I Owned Quite A Few Mg Zed Cars, And In
Since 2002 I owned quite a few MG ZED cars, and in my view the MG ZT is best all round one I have had.
I started with a 02 ZR 120 then on to a 04 ZR 160, after that a 05 ZS 180 V6. Since May 08, I now run the very last of the line ZT 160 Turbo with SE spec, on a 56 plate
I changed the ZS 180, as I did not wish to pay £430 a year road fund, which is what the ZS V6 will be from next April. As it will fall into band G.
So the ZT 160 Turbo was the best option for me, as the V6 would put me in band G still, and the 120 not enough go for me.
So back to SMC High Wycombe they must wish that they had more guys like me walking into there showroom. As four cars of them in 6 yrs. As luck would have it they had a 56 reg 160 Turbo in Goodwood Green with SE spec with only 14.000 miles on it, job done traded in the ZS and brought the ZT the same day after looking and test driving it.
Ok the ZT 160 Turbo is not as quick of the line, or handles as well on the twisty bits, as the ZS 180. But for a bigger car with 18 bhp less it still feels and is quite a quick, sports four door with good road manners
Once more once you ' re behind the wheel of the ZT you feel that the car is a bit special, a bit of class. The dash the feel of the gear shift, the way the dials look and that blue illumination of the dials at night all adds to the ZT feel that this a quality car that is well built and is very British, Take the ZT on to the road it glides on motorways with little road noise from it 18" rims with 225 rubber on them. On B roads and county lanes the car feel safe very capable with sharp bands and the brakes pull you up very well. Ok as I said not as much fun as the ZS 180, but the car feel far more refined The Turbo comes in quite quick with very little lag, drop it into third floor it and she ' s off but I do miss the sound of my old V6, but the Turbo unit also has a nice engine note to it.
Were the ZT 160 comes in to it own is it will give you 37 mpg on a long run as long as you are not at warp speed. We took it down to Cornwall this month it was a real joy to drive, we left Chalfont in Bucks and did a total of over 700 miles and according to the trip computer it average of 35.6 , which my ZS would come well shy of. One thing is we could get more into the boot of the ZS, and no it was not a hatchback it was a four door one with the huge wing on the back. But I feel the ZT is the best of the ZED cars I have had.
On a foot note when I brought my ZT Turbo the was a ZT 260 on a 06 plate with about 5000, miles more then my Turbo for the same money, it was very tempting but 21 MPG if your lucky and £455 Road tax. So for me the Turbo gives the best of both worlds quick good performance and very good MPG. I do hope this little bit of info is of help for anyone thinking of a ZT.

In A World Where Bmws, Audis And To A Lesser Exten
In a world where BMWs, Audis and to a lesser extent, VWs, are rather cliche, the MG ZT (and ZT-T) are a better-value-for-money alternative with a sense of character that the others lack, whilst being a truly competitive car.

I Have The Mg Zt 190+ And I Bought It On A Whim I
I have the MG ZT 190+ and I bought it on a whim I have always liked British cars and I needed a sensible family car but I wanted something with a little bit of umph and that is what I got with this car. I have owned several sports cars and several family cars and I have always felt a little disheartened they promise everything but come up with nothing. This car though promised nothing but good looks and delivered a whole lot more. So much so that my wife actually sold her car so we have just the one car and I can't drive my baby when I want I now have to share. All in all though it's by far the best car I have owned and to top it off it is British not from else where in the world.

I've Had The Mg Zt Sports Car From 68k, And I've O
I've had the MG ZT sports car from 68k, and I've only covered 5K in a year. Since I've had it, I've had 2 clutches done. The first was poorly fitted. Very hard ride. Sticks to the road really well, but bare in mind you'll be spending £150 per tyre if you throw it around bends for a living. I keep getting a bulb out warning, but all bulbs are working fine. I had a couple of occasions where the heating kicks in, even though the temperature is at 17 degrees. I wouldn't recommend this car, purely based on the fall of the company, and the potential headache you'll have when the time comes to trade it in.
I have a MG ZT 190+ and the tyres I use which are Kumhos cost £70.00 each fitted and they are excellent in the wet and dry and really hold on in the corners.

After Owning A Chrysler And Wearing It Out In 83,0
After owning a Chrysler and wearing it out in 83,000 miles, I chose to buy a V6 powered car with comfort, and the MGZT came up as the best value for money.
I have now put 50,000 miles in 18 months on my 190+ and I love the car. The only downside is, my tyre supplier could not get me the 45 profile tyres when I needed them, so we fitted 40 profile on the front and left the good 45 profiles on the rear. This lead to a problem with the central processor working out the speed and the revolutions per wheel, and it then cuts out the power to the engine. This just means the traction control has to be turned off when accelerating out of corners and roundabouts.
This is a very underestimated vehicle, and although I am now changing it for an MPV, I would have kept it, or even bought a V8 one.
10 out of 10 for a good all round car!
Hope this helps someone.

I Don't Know Much About Cars. I Wasn't Really Buy
I don't know much about cars. I wasn't really buying one. But when you're along for the ride, waiting for your girlfriend to decide between the MX5 and the MGTF, you may as well look around.
I spotted the MG ZT 190 (Silver, 02 plate, 28000 miles, £9,995). I didn't know what it was, but I know what I like (yes, big girlie - "I like the colour").
I tried it out. Which was a dream, apart from running out of petrol and being rescued (do they REALLY syphon off the fuel to make a buck?). I bought it, first serious outing from East Midlands to Glasgow (A/B-roads, dual carriageway, motorway). I've done this trip often, in all sorts of cars. My impression of the ZT190? First time I really enjoyed that trip!
Driver involvement hits the spot for me - subtle quality. Nothing too flash, very functional, easy-to-reach. The dash is easy on the eyes, even after 4 hours night/wet driving (hint: turn down the dash brightness).
Performance seems sluggish for a 2.5 at first, until you figure out that ALL of the power is in the top end - delay changing up, change down early and it delivers. A big bonus here is that when you work up the revs it sounds like a beast, although the sound-proofing ensures you only hear a fraction of what others hear (if that kind of juvenile thing impresses you). And the wet is NOT a problem.
On the way north, I detoured to Germany (right?!) That's how I know that it really smooths out, calms down and cruises over 100mph. Almost like its uncomfortable under 80 ...
The downside:
Greedy on fuel - I got 27 mpg over 300 miles (but then I don't drive for efficiency!)
Seriously firm suspension - essential to safely work it to the limit, but you feel everything. (Curiously, on 'A'/'B'-road, bendy stuff its as smooth as butter, but on long M-way stretches you feel every truck-groove.)
Forget BMW/Merc. THIS is the car for the discerning forty-somethings who need to balance impressing others with impressing him/herself (see, I'm not sexist!). Thirty-somethings and below will just see this as a "vamped-up Rover", but they'll understand when they grow up. (I'm forty-twelve myself, next birthday...!)
Oh, and the girlfriend went with the Mazda - all that hard suspension without the performance to back it up. That's girls for you ... still, it IS silver ...
