I had 2 of these cars, a white 1995 (N) which i bought in 97 with 24k showing & then another white one, a 99 T bought in 2000 with 16k showing.
truely barnstorming performance from both. The T reg was better due to trim / equipment impovements - you got Aircon, lowered slightly, colour coded mirrors, rubbing strips etc, high level brake light. Also front fogs, better alarm, rear head rests. You lost though, the electric drivers hight adjustment, and the tyre profile went from 50 - to 55, - improved the ride but not the looks, also the radio bacame a dedicated fit job and not as nice as the blaupunkt one in the 1995 model. Pretty reliable, bit heavy with front tyres though & back boxes on both cars went. Never replaced any brake components - best bit? thumping acceleration even at 100 - not many maintsreamers back then could keep up - certainly nothing from ford or vauxhall (ST24 & SRI Vectra? no hope - ST200 & Gsi - closer but not in '99)-imagine both crushed now esp the 95 one N683 TOJ - shame really as the 2nd one (T463 JOP)was exceptional when i sold it in 2003 for £ 4,500 with 46k showing to some guy from Ipswich

What A Hell Of A Good Whallop For The Money. 0-60
What a hell of a good whallop for the money. 0-60 7.5 s for a heavy max saloon a lot less on a rolling start letting the turbo kick in, outdid the others on the market at the time even the top end Rover.

These cars in my opinion are so underrated. The Rover 620 turbo is a very nice car for many reasons, they can look very good for a start and still look quite modern compared to many other new cars, although.

I love my Rover 620. Bought mine modified nice kit and dtm alloys, dump valve bright green paint. Good job was already done as parts are hard to find. Beat a subaru the other day so really impressed and handles really well round corners. Ideal for the kids as big boot and plenty of leg room. only down side is the windows keep breaking not ideal for mcdonalds drive through.

I got my '98 Rover 620ti four years ago when it had 60k on the clock from a dealer for 3k. Not the cheapest but it came with a 12 month warranty thrown in. It has now covered 116k miles and I intend to keep it till it dies. I value it's comfort combined with the power to make life interesting.

Twice In 3 Years That I Own A 1996 620ti Model I H
Twice in 3 years that I own a 1996 620ti model I had to change the alternator to a new one. At the first time the electronic brain was also damaged because of an overcharging of the alternator, so I had to change this too, as this caused a permanent leak of electric current that exhausted the battery which I also replaced!! At the second time all lamps of the front lights were burn from the same reason (overcharging) as well as the battery was off and i had to replace it again. Recently a strange whistling is heard out from the turbo over 3000 rpm and some rattling of the engine for about 1 minute at cool morning starts. Also the two clutch master cylinders had to be replaced. The thermostat also is a permanent cause to spend money. The car has run for 90000 km. Isn't all this enough disappointing ?

If the gearbox is ok or you get it recon'd then you've got mk5 golf gti performance for 1k or less. The Rover 620Ti Turbo is a great Car, had no major problems with mine. It has good power, Big Boot, Discreet. Fully Loaded, Reasonable MPG for engine size. The gear Box can be a nightmare and getting the Brake Discs off.
