This Is My First Vr6 And My Second Volkswagon Golf

This is my first VR6 and my second Volkswagon Golf. Coming from a 2.0L 8v Golf GL, later turboed with 10psi (220whp/212lbstq) was not a big difference in performance, but dropping a turbo in this V6 would throw out something like 310/320 hps at 10psi.

Considering that no engine work (aka forged pistons & rods) is necessary until 20+ psi of boost, is easy to imagine the stock potential of this car, only a low comp. Head gasket is necessary to top out at 350/400 hp on stock internals. No other engine can do that, neither Renault with it's sport line parts for VW are everywhere especially performance ones. So everything summed: the car is a blast in its stock form, responds as no other one does on mods, it's a cake to drop in a turbo and is reliable. Go and get one, new, used doesn't make any difference...since it's a real robust hot hatch or pocket rocket!!

This Volkswagen Golf Gti Vr6 Is An All Round Compa

This Volkswagen Golf GTi VR6 is an all round compact pocket rocket sports car for a very reasonable price. This car is very deceiving to the untrained eye. The lack off traction can be corrected by puting on a set of high quality performance tyres. Looks amazing on the road and at car shows. This car was designed with all aspects of a car enthusiasts lifestyle and driving style in mind. VW was thinking when they built this car. Go VW go, give us another. My next car will be a golf R32.

I have heard the fuel consumption on these is appalling - is this correct?

The Volkswagen Golf Gti Vr6 Is The Proverbial Wolf

The Volkswagen Golf GTi VR6 is the proverbial wolf in sheeps clothing. The V6 howl under acceleration and snarl under a trailing throttle are sweet sounds for those who rate auditory enjoyment highly in their driving experience. Immaculately kept by a fussy owner from new, this car was fitted with a full stainless steel exhaust system and aftermarket shocks and springs before I bought it.

This car will joyfully trounce even the most ardent jap-tuning boy racer in its wake whilst also seeing off a range of more exotic european machinery in gears - all without really having to pick up its skirts.

At low speeds around town, the engine is a real honey and means that enjoyment can be had without the compulsion to explore the stratospheric & license threatening acceleration. When compared with other (4 cylinder) hot hatches such as the Peugeot 306 S16/GTI6, 206 GTI/180, Proton Satria GTI et al (my other potential choices), the VR6 shone out due to its superior V6 power delivery and the attraction of carefree, sensible VW style motoring.

If anything, the sports suspension means that the car must be treated like a small sports car around town, watching for ruts and corrugations, later savouring the sharp handling on longer, faster stretches of road. Its worth it. The body is tight and the chassis has superb rigidity.

The stainless exhaust is a must have and adds a dimension that standard VR6's do not have. Those sweet VR6 frequencies are unleashed. (The throb has even set off shock sensing alarms on parked vehicles I've passed by - how many small cars can do this?) Whats more, you can leave the car parked knowing it will blend in.

An entertaining sports car without the encumberance of a more exotic vehicle.

I Have Owned My 1994 Volkswagen Golf Gti Vr6 5-doo

I have owned my 1994 Volkswagen Golf GTi VR6 5-door sports car for almost 4 years now. First car I've ever held onto for that long, which says something straight away!

It's been unbelievably reliable for a "hot hatch" of this age. The only problems I've had are with the ABS (Pump fault) and some rusting on the tailgate (a common problem on pre-1996 Mk3s). Other than that it's been perfect.

The car put an ear-to-ear grin on my face the first time I drove it. And it still does, courtesy of some choice modifications (see below). In the crucial 40-70mph overtaking range, there are very few hatches (even newer ones) that can match the VR6.

Recommended modifications are Koni/Eibach suspension (the standard suspension is too soft for fast road driving) and the Schrick VSR Inlet manifold, which dramatically improves the car's pulling power under 4000RPM and actually IMPROVES fuel economy!

For servicing and modifications, I used Stealth Racing near Leamington Spa (www.stealthracing.co.uk) and cannot recommend them highly enough! A very professional and knowledgable VW specialist firm that doesn't charge the Earth.

When I sell the car later this year, I'll be buying a Mk4 Golf 4Motion, hoping for more of the same!! I am a 100% VW convert!!

Needed A Fast, Reliable, Easy And Cheap To Run 5dr

Needed a fast, reliable, easy and cheap to run 5dr family car. But these cars seemed not to exist without having to sacrifice one thing or the other, until I found the VW Golf VR6!

What a car this is! Having owned this car for 9 trouble-free months I decided to fit lowered shocks & springs. The kit is G-Max, lowered 35mm I just wish i'd done it when I bought it, it has transformed the car into a new level. This with a jetex exhaust and panel filter has made quite a differrence also drill about 20 15mm holes in the bottom of the air-box ,the sound is awesome.
