Apart From The Small Luggage Space, The Volkswagen

Apart from the small luggage space, the Volkswagen Mk2 Golf is absolutely fabulous and runs smoothly. The power is coming out as a slope with no fast peaks, but the torque is the measure that this car is driven on and by. 229 NM and a full time 4WD give the car a special characteristics that cannot be paralleled.

I Have Got A Mk2 Golf 1.6l And I Am 17, It Is My 3

i have got a mk2 golf 1.6L and i am 17, it is my 3rd car and i havent even passed my test yet. i have also got a renault 11 1.4L which i am going to get rid of cause it is a heap of sh*t, at the moment i have 2 amplifiers, 2 10" subs, 2 6x9s, 2 4.5" speakers and 2 rubbish factory speakers, and a cd/radio headset in my renault, it all sounds pretty good but i am sure i can do better. my mission is to manage to fit 12 speakers in my golf, i will put the speakers from my r11 in, all except the factory fits obviously, and i also want to fit another pair of 6x9s and am thinking of ways to fit 2 8" bass speakers in the front doors. i will probably get a much bigger amp to handle the power output cause i dont think the 2 ive got r gonna run 12 speakers. i have already got some well nice fox racing alloys and a pretty phat body kit and i am thinking of finishing it all off with some nice limo black window tint. that is all for now, thankyou please.

IS THIS A JOKE? I CAN'T SEE A 17 YEAR OLD GETTING A RALLYE GOLF FOR THEIR FIRST CAR, NO MATTER HOW RICH YOU ARE. I DON'T EVEN THINK YOU HAVE A RALLYE, YOU'VE BEEN RIPPED OFF BRO! MY GOLF RYDER 1.3 CARB IS PROBABLY KITTED OUT BETTER THAN YOUR FAKE RALLYE AND FASTER!

Golfs are the peoples porsche and should not be messed about with, they should be modded by doing the euro look and adding a decent exhaust. Not one that makes you sound as if you are a boy racer.

www.matey-matey.com is a golf website for sorted golfs not boy raced by idots. ps

I own a mk2 golf 1.8 carb and it goes like a rocket because its sorted and not full of stuff like speakers and ice. I have fitted 16 inch alloys and I plan to fit a 60mm lowering kit.I also have a kn 57i induction kit for better airflow.

This HAS to be a wind-up.

I'm sure this reviewer wouldn't know a Rallye if it bit him/her. As for the comments on speakers, since when did ICE have any importance to a real performance car?

What the hell has this got to do with a MK2 Rallye? The 1.6 and the Rallye are two TOTALLY different cars......................

At First A Lhd Car Scared Me. I Must Admit It Took

At first a LHD car scared me. I must admit it took me 1-2 months to fully adjust, but now it feels natural. The engine on the Volkswagen Mk2 Golf Rallye has an incredible sound and handles high and low speeds very comfortably. On the motorway, keep your foot down and the power continues to increase up to 130/140mph with no trouble, humbling much more hyped up cars (It will eat Imprezas for breakfast, but have yet to challenge the local Lancer). The 4Wd is an absolute dream; the saying 'it's like being on rails' really hits true whilst driving. I owned a GTi 16v before this vehicle and found I needed to use high revs to really get performance, whereas the G60 engine is effortless - a lazy engine really. It will cruise at 60mph in 5th at 2500rpm, whilst my 16v would be at over 3000rpm at 60mph. So in this instance I have even seen less fuel consumption with the rallye! Much to my surprise! And like the GTi 8v engine it doesn't use a drop of oil, unlike my 16v that guzzled 1 litre every 2 weeks! The half leather is classy and subtle, the styling unsurpassed. Overall I have no qualms. Simply an exciting and engaging driving experience. Highly recommended.

I agree the Rallye has loads of torque and handling but with the 4WD system makes it 1300Kg as opposed to 1100Kg of the GTI G60 or 16v. The Impreza 2L Turbo is a sub 6 second car, Rallye's are at best 8 to 7 sec car, with a 1.780 liter engine. The supercharger is great as it gives a real kick in the pants from 1000 rpm. The G60 golf has the passat gearbox and this gives top speeds inxs of 155mph.

Interesting that you are "eating" Imprezzas in a car that has a slower acceleration rating than its 16v cousin? Is your Rallye modified as I don't see a 160bhp 4x4 despatching at minimum a 206bhp car weighing not a lot more????? The G60 MK2 was quicker than the Rallye which was blighted by an unfavourable 2nd gear ratio so 3 changes were required to hit a genuine 60.

G-Ladders go bang if neglected and a new one is £1500 or Jabbasport can do rebuilds from £400. Don't fit induction kits and dont increase the capacity of these engines as you thin the water jackets and cause high oil runnng temps as a result.

Good ones sound awesome and only have a premium over 8v and 16v MK2's because of scarcity.

I Bought My 102,000 Km Vw Mk2 Golf Rallye From A F

I bought my 102,000 KM VW Mk2 Golf rallye from a friend in Germany, who i met on the internet. I had all the belts replaced and a general service, it runs like a dream! I have KW coilovers on mine so it handles like nothing else.

Love it to bits!

But the G60 lump may have to move over for a 20V 1.8 Turbo out of an Audi TT soon.

In 1989, Vw Hand-built 5000 Special Golf Rallyes T

In 1989, VW hand-built 5000 special Golf Rallyes to qualify them for homolagation and entrance into rallying. As competition rules changed in 1989/90, most were sold as road-going cars in Germany/Mainland Europe.

I have recently bought a low mileage (60,000 miler) one owner car in almost new condition!

This car is amazing and handles like its on rails due to the rigid chassis, 4 wheel drive and sport suspension. The supercharged g60 power unit develops a smooth 160bhp and is very torquey. The car is beautifully built (no rattles, squeaks) and I am talking about a car that is 11 years old!

I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a fast, reliable, practical sports hatch with exclusivity.

That is, if you can find one!

Chargers need caring for and rebuilds are likely at 70000 miles so make sure there is evidence of this if buying one with mileage above the afformentioned...........
