152000 Miles And Not Even Worn In Yet!i Have Owned

152000 miles and not even worn in yet!I have owned my 1.4 polo 52 plate for a year after buying it from a friend who also used it for long distance commuting. With full service history and regular mantainence it is running like new! I have owned many cars and this is the most reliable car I have had. I am keeping it until the end as I want to see just how far it can go. It is comfy to drive and all the gadgets work.

I Bought The Car In Jul/aug 2009 With 113000 Miles

i bought the car in jul/aug 2009 with 113000 miles on it.

the first problem was that the exhaust completely explded, as in the biggest hole in the muffler i have ever seen.

now the engine management system has gone.

on top of this the e/windows stoped working.

but dont let that put you off this car, the speed is phonominal for a 1.4 and is very nice to drive. i think i just ran into a bad one that needed to be put to rest any way.

Got This Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16v As My First Car,

Got this Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16V as my first car, having been a named driver on other cars for a few weeks. I have driven a fair few cars in a similar class to this, and this polo absolutely wipes the lot. Handles fantastically well, barely and body roll without lowering, pulls insanely well for a 1.4, however its not some miracle car so anything over 1.6 will kick it. I had heard gearboxes and eleccy windows went on these, and day after i bought it the drivers window stopped working, and a day later the gearbox started groaning. I read up on the problem and it seemed sorting the 'box early was the best option as the cost goes right up the longer you leave it, recon boxes are pricey on these so youre looking at a £4-500 quid rebuild. A recon box can set you back £500 for the part alone!

Overall a fantastic car, everything you could possibly want out of a basic 'warm' hatch, easily the best sporty car a 17 year old male can get insured on. Just watch the gearbox as the more powerful twin cam engine and the fact many of these cars have been driven 'enthusiastically' can wreak havoc with it. And your wallet.

The Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16v The Best Buy I've Done

The Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16V the best buy i've done for a long time! it has 100cv\74kw that grants you travel normally, it doesn't consume too much ... 6,5\7 l all depends if you drive it on high revs or in low revs... I recomend it 100%.

Hello There I Have A Jet Black Vw Polo 16v Twincam

hello there i have a jet black vw polo 16v twincam its a very nippy car leaves bigger cars and rubbish corsa's standin at lights easy to drive would like to know the best way of upping the performance and bhp would get another car but as its my 1st car i fell in love with it

few things wrong though gearbox selectors when u select reverse it dont engage what helps is holdin it in reverse without slamming it there and lifting the clutch gently till it engages properly . other thing is my door locks and boot locks and electric windows

I Won't Be Buying Another. So Many Extras But Vw F

I won't be buying another. So many extras but VW forgot about basics.

No light for the glove box and also not for the boot. How does a Mum get shopping out of the boot in the dark without a light.

See your wrong here, I own one and it does have a light in the boot as standard mounted on the left hand side under the trim/cover

Absolute Rapid Car. Managed To Swap The Twin Cams

Absolute rapid car. Managed to swap the twin cams on a busted up 16v with my 8v (+40bhp). since im a speed maniac iv just put on a new super charger(+30bhp), new mod chip (25bhp) and last but not least... a new Cat Back Exhaust System By Remus (+20bhp). That ' s a whopping 175bhp! And 0 to 60 in about 5.28 secs. And the funniest thing is ITS ONLY INSURANCE GROUP 5! Anyway iv raced almost every single person in my area and the results were obvious... They left behind.

The car is realy good but you must make sure you have an excellent car alarm because there would be a few eyes about if you know what I mean.

how can I get all these tuneups friend? :)

bondbill

haha hillerious post first of all.

Second, the 1.4 16v polo has 100bhp standard, if you previously had the 8v engine you couldnt swap the cams over to it the block is totaly different!

Its highly higly doughtful a 'modchip' as you said would give you a 25+bhp performance boost, thats pretty high for turbo diesels or even high end performance cars which they work their best on!

A 16v polo is insurance group 10,the 8v may be group 5 but with the engine swap after declaring would see your premium shoot up unless you have fake insurance e.g. not declaring mods.

Also this supercharge you speak of, please inform us what make/model is this and how have you got these individual part performance increases? Did you have it RR'd before adding each item and after? Or are you quoting ebay guideline figures, if so I highly recomend you take it on a true rolling road and see the output, if you did a full 16v engine swap id be impressed after mods if your getting anything over 120bhp really!

I Have A Mk3 With 80,000 Miles On The Clock, I Tak

I have a mk3 with 80,000 miles on the clock, I take it to track days and with its stripped interior and minor performance modifications, (exhaust system, induction kit, ecu upgrade) its an absolute weapon, mine currently stands at 117bhp and 0-60 comes in at 8 seconds dead! There is nothing more fun than leaving those insanely kitted up corsa's and clio's at the lights in my humble 1.4!!!

I would not only recommend this to a track day enthusiast or a first time driver, but i would even recommend this to performance car fans as well. There is so much potential here.

I agree with this review because...absolute ripper :) need to up my performance thought currently standard running on 100 bhp any idea about stripping the pannel filter box and all that rubbish for a differant air filter

I Would Certainly Recommend This Car To Others. Es

I would certainly recommend this car to others. Especially seeing as they seem to be holding their value now... honestly can't believe its a 10 yr old car. This was the first VW I've owned and I'm know thinking of upgrading to a larger VW...Passat or Golf.

Very Good Performance From The 100bhp Volkswagen P

Very good performance from the 100bhp Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16V. Wipes the door with Saxo VTRs and Zetec S's. 0-60 I timed to be less than 10sec. Great build quality with everything feeling solid. To this time holding is value very well. After 10 months and an extra 15000 miles on the clock still at what it was when I bought it if not more. Brakes, gearbox also good.

Mines in dark green and looks great. Alloys, smoked rear lights, front fogs and clear front and side indicators give that extra sporty look. A real head turner.

In the 10months reliability has been good apart from a few problems. Thermostat packed up and then my automatic choke. Other than that, fine.

Expensive insurance. It cost me £2300 for 10 months. Renewal quote of £1533.

Overall a great car. Fast, sporty, reliable, practical and with a solid build. Would recommend to anyone.
