Very Poor Quality Control.

Having owned a second hand and a new Elddis I feel qualified to offer an opinion as to its quality. My first Elddis, an Autostratus, was disappointing. It developed an electrical fault (a short circuit was eventually discovered) when barely two years old, which took two years and two thousand pounds to correct. The habitation control panel was also a problem, failing consistently until I discovered that the internal circuit had a battery with a lifespan of three years maximum. The seatbelts had a detonator assisted action which was integrated into the airbag system, unfortunately this system was short lived and eight years later replacement seatbelts were not available. There must be many owners having great difficulty replacing these seatbelts.

My new Elddis Autoquest 120 arrived with a host of minor quality control problems. These problems were obviously there when the vehicle left the factory and also when the PDI was carried out. Faulty lights, ( internal & external ) faulty oven, squeeks etc. Thankfully after 3,000 miles there appears to be no major faults.

Possibly, I'm just unlucky and this is not typical Elddis.

I too bought on in 2006 from Emm Bee and had nothing but problems from day one. Oil leak, resprayed panels from a spray can which Emm Bee and Elddis refused to take responsibility for. Also went back to be rebuilt at the factory but came back worse than ever with bits missing or poorly repaired. Waste pipes lasted 500 miles before falling off on the M6 somewhere! Water pump failure leaving me covered in soap! Cracked shower tray (well actually the plug hole disappeared into an even bigger hole!) Had to go back to Emm Bee to get rid of. No-one else was interested, wouldn't touch it or offered a very bad trade in price after 18 months of hell. Now got a CI and am still having problems - August will be it's 2nd anniversary of ordering a new table to replace a faulty one. Also evidence of respraying around the gas locker. Have come to the conclusion that Emm Bee sell nothing but crap they have obviously got cheap and sell at full price. Will be the last time... If you have purchased MX06 HZS second hand - good luck you will certainly need it!

Fabulous Van, Real Problem With Obtaining Parts Fr

Fabulous van, real problem with obtaining parts from Elddis whose customer service is non-existant. Mine is not only van to suffer problems -- spoken to other Autostratus owners, one whose van has been off the road for 6 months due to poor manufacture.

I think that Elddis and its agents show no real urgency to resolve problems after they have received your money!!

Have resorted to contacting trading standards officers to resolve this matter, and they would be interested in hearing of any problems with this company.

Q&A

2500

I am considering buying a Elddis Autostratus. Chassis model Boxer 320 MWB. The year is 1998 and it says on the advert a 5 berth, 2446L engine.34,000 miles.£10,995. This will be my first motorhome, does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks

I recently bought a 1990 Elddis Autostratus. It needs a lot of TLC. Where is the best place to order parts ? For example the fridge, cooker, toilet, shower etc?
