Derbi Gpr / Gilera Sc125

Got a 2006 Gilera a sc125, same bike as the Derbi just rebranded for sale in England.

Looks great no problems so far. Yamaha engine so no worries there.

I love it, bigger than most other 125s it handles like a race bike if you have the nerve and skill.

Had it up to 104 mph still using the standard exhaust.

My only negative would be fuel consumption but its the trade of for the extra performance when compared with a 4 stroke.

I would ague it is prettier than the aprillia rs.

Gpr

wicked bike handels excellant. no doubt best 125 on the market revs well considering a four stroke would recomend to anyone as a first bike or even a sunday toy truly well thought and well put together bike.

I Bought A 2007 Gpr On A 57 Plate For £1000

I bought a 2007 gpr on a 57 plate for £1000 which to me is a bargin compared to dt's and rs's i was lookin at i'd be lucky to get a 2000 plate for that money and best of all it has the yam dt engine in neway, so parts should be fine for the engine. It turns out theres lots of spares out there for the actual bike to. Been a two stroke means expensive oil in the bike or a pricey rebuild but that didnt put me off as 4 stroke 125's aint worth considering. I was expecting a nippy bike but its much quicker than i thought, it has the power valve in operation 7.5amp fuse added easy deresticition and goes like stink for a 125 been quicker up to 60 than the rival rs125. i would recomened this bike to any body looking for a 1st bike or a bike to get back into riding most people comment on how it doesnt even look like a 125 due to its size and stylin. there are however a few down sides listed below

Cr*p mirrors

orignal speedo drives failing £40 fix

side stand that springs up

and the seem on my exhuast camber split £10 job to get re welded

overall good bike well worth the money over a simular aged rs125, put saving towards the big bike test

I Got One Of The New Derbi Gpr 125's This August A

I got one of the new Derbi GPR 125's this august as my first ever bike, with the intention of using it for a bit of fun on the weekends and having my car for the week... however the car is now virtually used! For £3000 brand new it's great value for money and the amount of fun you can have on it is unbelievable.

The ride is very comfortable with the bars slightly higher up than others so not too much pressure on the wrists and the pegs positioned nicely. i'm 6ft 4 and have no issues with an achey back of anything at all.

It really looks like a bigger bike and apart from the L plates theres no give away that it's only a 125 at all.

Theres been no problems with reliablity so far and there were no problems at all at the first service however only owning the bike for 2 months i shall wait and see how it goes.

It handles very well keeping up with bigger bikes through the corners. it's very stable round the bends and you get alot of feel through the bars.

I'm getting around 150 miles out of a tank at the moment with is being used for both commuting to college and for weekend blasts on country roads.

Bought A Derbi Gpr125 On A 56 Plate... Wiring Was

Bought a derbi gpr125 on a 56 plate... wiring was terrible, nothing worked and ended up selling the bike without even riding it...thought it was a one off so....

got a derbi gpr 125 on an 06 plate that had been highly maintained simply because i loved the way it looked.

very nippy bike but thats about all its good for.

compared to the honda nsr 125 or the cbr 125 or the rs it feels unsafe to drive.

im always living in fear its high reving 2 stroke engine is going to seize up on me seen as ever other thing on the bike is cheaply made!

the gear shift lever PLASTIC... broke 2 of them and believe me, when your in the middle of no where and your left in 4th gear and no way of changing, its a nightmare.

the front brake seized up on me (see someone elses review on here that did same thing) and i ended up down the road on my side followed by the bike.

it drinks 2 stroke oil like no other iv ever seen

its not that good compared with other bikes when it comes to fuel consumption

the wiring WILL fail on you at some point and youll need a new loom if not ALL the electrical components aswell

switches are cheap and will break

the only good point to this bike is the way it looks from afar!

DO NOT BUY ONE!!

get a honda nsr 125

will last forever i promise!

oh and 1 last thing... the last (6th) gear is useless...

too short of a ratio to make a differnce from 5th and somewhat hinders power!

people believe the only restrictor on this bike is "the fuse" but there is also a restrictor in the exaust and also one on the factory air box in the form of a rubber bung taking up most of the air inlet... simple to remove

if you live in london like me you will enjoy the nippyness of this bike round the congested streets but for anything else id give this bike a miss

from a 2 times owner of a derbi gpr 125!
