Suzuki Burgman 125

I have had my burgman just over three years. It's amazing to ride but just keeps breaking. Since I got it it has had 3 back wheels. 3 sets of front and rear pads. 2 complete wiring harnesses. 4 batteries. 1 fuel pump. Finally the exhaust literally rusted apart after a year. The worse of it is you just can't get replacement parts! You are looking at around 500 quid for a new exhaust for this model. Suzuki have been no support and the service manager from M&s in Newcastle pretty much told me that it's normal for bikes to have these problems and it wasn't their responsibility to sort them.

Thats my first scooter after I passed CBT test and I have been driving winter and summer.Never let me down,starts on a first time,very cheap to run,under seat storage amazing.As I'm looking to another scooters feel sorry for storage space.Looking for upgrade and it definitely will be burgman 400 or 650.Thanks

The Suzuki Burgman 125 is a beautiful bike. It is sexy and stylish. I passed my CBT last year then saw the Burgman in a shop window and had to have it.

Although as a rookie rider who had only ridden a scooter twice before, at first I found it a bit heavy to maneuver for parking etc but soon got used to it.

I have since passed my motorbike test and love cruising and commuting on my bike. Because of it's size I feel safe and able to hold my own on the road. It is pretty nippy too and can reach speeds of around 80mph.

It has loads of storage space and comfortably carries a pillion passenger.

My only criticism is that after only a couple of months, rust started appearing on the exhaust. As it was a new bike, I complained to Suzuki and the exhaust was replaced. I have now had my bike for just over a year and the exhaust has gone rusty again. I contacted Suzuki again but have been told that rust is not covered under the warranty and that it is a normal part of wear and tear, so I suppose I will have to have it replaced in the near future.

Apart from that, I love my bike.

i bought my burgman 125 in 2008 from new at a price of £2750 ,i love really love my ped,i couldnt believe the size of the scooter when i first saw it..its allways been good to me, i use the burgy every day ,rain or shine, never lets me down, good on fuel at 90mpg. i give my burgman an oil & filter change every 2 months, the only downfall is that the rear tyre only lasted 4,000 miles and the scooter is quite heavy at the rear.have gone through 3 tyres in 3 years now. the exhaust isnt that really well made as it has rusted within 1 year during the winter. other than that the burgman is a great scooter to recomend..

Just had the Bike for 2 days from brand new, and it broke down today on my way to work and had to get the AA out, they couldn't see what is wrong with it, unbelievable!!

I've had my baby burger for nearly 3 years now, and in that time it has been an expensive bike to maintain, partly due to garages not being honest and not doing the work they should have done though.

The biggest pain for me is the rate she goes through tyre's and pads, it's quiet alarming!

Up untill March this year, she was going fine, now though she struggles to get past 30mph, so today I am replacing the Clutch roller's to see if that makes a difference.

Aside from all the problems I have had thrown at me, I would recommend this bike (perhaps a 2007-onwards) to a friend, as she does all you ask her to, and more!

The burgman I own can (or atleast used to be able to) hold its own whilst on the roads, with speeds hitting 70mph. The area I live in also gets flooded when there is a high tide, and the burgman shows cars up by going right through the flooding with no Ill effects.

Fuel wise she is relatively heavy, but I do do alot of miles, so this is something to be expected. She does not drink oil, more so sips it slowly.

After a long ride, the main problem I face is the temperature gauge rising whilst stuck in traffic, before now the fuse has actually blown on a hill, forcing me to mount the path and push the bike to the local post office - No fun!

First off I would like to say I'm writing this review as I get the impression some reviews are FAKE

I have owned this Suzuki Bergman 125 k8 injection for about a year in that time it has been 100% reliable

This Burgman excels in 3 main areas

1. Reliability

2. Storage capacity

3. Engine performance

it starts first time every time I just have to touch the start button for 1 second and it fires up .unlike the Italian piece of _ _ _ _ it replaces.

The Aprillia I owned while on paper was comparable in terms of top speed bhp but it was very unreliable .and not very well engineered

People please bare this in mind try to look further than your nose when buying a bike

The Suzuki is a very reliable and has never let me down

Simply put

It does its job and then some

0-60 + TOP speed + mpg

The top indicated speed I have seen is 78 MPH when I get an Iphone app I will confirm this .it's very smooth at motorway speeds.

The acceleration is also very good for such a versatile scooter using the 1001 ,1002 method I guestimate it takes 14.5 seconds to get from 0-60

Which is fast enough to leave most cars behind at the lights unless they are really trying?

I had a race with a 2 stroke aprillia rs125 and he put around 6 bike lengths on me on a race to 60 .when I pulled up at the next lights he was surprised my bike was only a 125

the mpg is around 90 mpg but I am a big lad with a big frontal area and more drag coefficient and I'm also a heavy 14 stone of muscle .and when I ride it I carry allot of luggage to work

It is genuinely massive

I can carry to following to work in the under seat storage

A large laptop bag with a widescreen laptop and all my folders

My lunch box (saves buying that overpriced ....food)

And there is still enough room to fit my waterproofs too

It can hold 2 full face helmets when empty

It also has a small storage unit which does not need to be unlocked so you can keep sunglasses there or a phone. If you have a heavy phone dont put it there though as under hard acceleration the locking mechanism will open and your phone will fall out and under a car as mine did (I was quick enough to jump of my bike and save the phone in case you're wondering)

It's extremely well thought out apart from the above mentioned problem

It has an easy to access light flasher unlike some bikes

And is generally very well thought out and engineered to a high standard

and a 3rd storage compartment with a cigarette lighter socket so you can use gps ,heated gloves or charge your phone .the third storage compartment is also lockable and can also be left unlocked which is useful if you need to access good inside it while riding

And the 3rd compartment can hold allot of useful kit such as a spare set of gloves tools bungee cords

To sum up it has been an excellent bike only needing consumables such as tires and a battery which is to be expected with the mileage I do.

It's been perfect touch wood

And is more than I could ask for and expect from a 125

It's even very easy to clean (I think the surfaces have been treated)

The Japanese really do know how to engineer machines without a limited lifespan

Other 125 bikes are too focused ie cbr 125 yzf 125 but I would happily ride this bike all over the world and I could with its luggage space

It's a very versatile real world workhouse

I passed my CBT and decided I loved being on 2 wheels. Had a look at several bikes (manual and automatics) and settled with my 2006 (55 plate) K6 125 Burgman. I'm 6 foot 1 inch, bought it off eBay (which on reflection wasn't such a good idea) but love as much now as I ever have!

Let's start with the good points. There's lots of under seat storage, even for a 6th form college student doing maths, physics, chemistry and biology which has a lot of books and handouts to go with them. It's got a very comfortable seat and has lots of legroom. It's very easy to read the instruments because they're lit up all the time and (according to my mum who drove past me on the week I bought it) has lots of road presence. When going down dual carriageways it feels like cars know you are there as it's quite large and you don't hold up traffic as it can easily keep up with the traffic. Financially, it's got cheap tax (£15), cheap MOT and cheap insurance. I'm an 18 year old male with a full car licence and provisional bike and 1 year no claims bonus, and I got insured for £330 third party, fire and theft.

A neutral point is that annual service costs; just in case you're like me and don't have lots of free time to do it yourself has been around £150 for me including parts and all labour and takes a few hours to do. If you can service it yourself, then this will be significantly cheaper

And now for the bad points. As I said, I bought mine off eBay. This wasn't a good idea, as about 3 weeks of owning it, I needed a new pair of tyres and an exhaust; as there's a crack that forms on the weld that as far as I can find out, no one knows what causes it; but if bought from a dealer, the tyres shouldn't be an issue and you can get an after market exhaust for about £100. It's also easy to change as it's 2 nuts on the engine block and 2 bolts on the body holding it on. Also, the clutch went on mine last week, and because I can't find a new one on the internet; it's costing me £100 including labour for some guy in a workshop to change it for me. But getting access to it isn't too difficult.

If you can find a manual and any parts you need, then servicing and replacing any broken parts shouldn't be too much of a problem. I've had mine 1 year 4 months of the day this was written and the clutch has been the only mechanical part that's needed replacing. (I could have lived with a loud exhaust but it would have failed its' MOT if it hadn't been replaced!) It doesn't mind being ridden in the rain, the wet and the wind as long as you know your personal limits. As a young, inexperienced rider, I've ridden it at top speed in very strong winds without any issues or concerns. All I will say is that top speed on mine has been 65MPH, and this has made it interesting trying to overtake HGV's doing 60MPH. It does take quite some time.

I love my Burgman and I highly recommend it as not only a scooter for beginners but for anyone.

Just read a review about this bike not liking water, but i have had no worries when it comes too rain i've even had her out in snow and she's been fine but recieved letter the other day saying that part of the bike has been re-called due to a faulty petrol pump, it is effecting the suzuki burgman 125 and the 250, hope this helps with anyone who has trouble with bike starting and stopping. Generally not a bad scooter, plenty of underseat storage, and handles well. Now for the downside it simply does not like water whether it be rain or standing water the engine cuts out and doesn't want to start again for a few moments - not a great confidence booster when stood at traffic lights and even worse when waiting to make a right hand turn. Dealer has no idea on rectifying the problem.
