General Review Uc125

I have owned a uc 125 for the last 8 years it is a great runaround, ecnomical, and fun to use. The build quality is to a high standard and generally very reliable, only ever broke down twice because of spark plug cap coming loose, but otherwise very reliable. Here is a list of the few faults I have had :

Air box bracket braking.

Starter motor.

Rear break seizing due to poor maintenance.

Overall, this is a scooter I can recommend.

Suzuki Uc125x/y Epicuro - A Solid Inexpensive Unpretentious Larger Bodied Scooter

A straightforward scooter which accelerates well owing to its 4-valve cylinder head and water cooling.

Unadjustable rear suspension sags with age, but the big seat makes carrying a passenger under 6ft easy. Pillion comfort OK, but feet are 3 inches higher than the driver's because of the upward swooping bodywork andf rests as it nears the tail. (There's a small rack on the back too.

Brakes adequate (single disc front, hub at rear.

All spares available from Suzuki quickly, but beware of noisy tappets as it may mean the rocker assembly in the cylinder head is packing up, which is not worth mending.

Speed limited by the CDI to 65mph which is annoyingly short of motorway speeds.

Economy c.75mpg, more if you are light on the throttle, which you're unlikely to be as it's only a 125.

Weather protection good with the ugly but better later higher screen. Big underseat compartment illuminated by a dinky light.

Plastics are solid and fastenings are generally robust. Makes a good alternative to a Chinese scooter at £350 to £550 with long MoT and taxed second-hand at time of writing (2011).

The choke on the UC125 is automatic. It's motion of closing is controlled by wax. As the engine gets hotter, at the same time a tiny heater heats the wax and the wax expands. In doing so it closes the enricher passage (which allowed a higher ratio of petrol to air into the carburettor when things were cold.) so the engine performs as it should without choke.

This technology is robust, but of course your scooter is aging. If you wanted I could send you my manual. I no longer have my scooter. I sold it at 65,000 miles.

When My Epicuro Is Running Its A Cracking Little(h

when my Epicuro is running its a cracking little(heavy) scooter, though i wish i hadn't bought it now as its only done 17000miles and the drive belt snapped, suzuki could get one, wouldn't give me a price over the phone and was told it could be 4-6 WEEKS to get one!!! it also has a random problem of losing maybe 20mph off top speed for days on end and fixing its self. now the starter has gone, dreading the call to suzuki!! parts are way too expensive and too hard to get. the law states that manufacturers must make sure that replacement parts are easily available for a minimum of 10 years after the cease of production.

I Bought My Suzuki Epicuro 125 From A Dealer In Ba

I bought my Suzuki Epicuro 125 from a dealer in Bath with 13000 miles on it. I ride it on country roads and through the Forest of Dean. It handles well and its light weight makes it easy to manuovere. I have fitted a Vespa silver coloured top box which matches the paintwork and has a passenger backrest. I haven't tried it with the wife on the back but it hauls my 200 pounds about rather well.

I don't ride it on the motorway in high winds. Also, it would have been better, but probably slower, with wider legshields. You have to pull your legs together on cold days. The screen height is about right for my 5 foot 9 inch frame. You can see over the top which is a big safety issue in driving rain.

It does about 68 mph flat out and 75 to the gallon when you are frugal with the throttle.

The Suzuki Epicuro is a nice scoot and cheap (my was) for what it offers. The seat is a bit hard, but generally good bike. Nice commuter, would recommend to buy.

Enough space under the seat for a helmet + lock, quick for a 4 stroke 125 at 68 mph. Suspension is a little to soft and not adjustable.

The Suzuki Epicuro 125 Is Well Priced But It Comes

The Suzuki Epicuro 125 is well priced but it comes at a cost. Details , like screw lenght or lack of and plastic mounting points can be a problem. Bad engineering practice.

Just a few more points I forgot to mention on my initial review.

Having had my 125 from new I took a careful account of the fuel consumption on every fill which came out at 29 Kls/ltr. Not a spectacular figure considering my new AN400 is doing 27 Kms/ltr regulary and that's cruising at 110 kms/hr.

If the fuel runs out for whatever reason you will be spending many minutes cranking over the engine as the diaphram pump on the carb is feable. I found this out by not being quick enough to fathom that the fuel gauge had partially died.

Removing the rear tire can be a pain as the exh pipe has got to be loosened. It pays to give it a good paint, the pipe that is, at the same time as this is a rust weak spot. I have also heard that a few electrical problems occur but I had no problems over the 2 years I had it. Again, for the price it is good value.

I had a 125 epicuro it ran very well. I used slick 50 on the engine. I used it to commute a 70 mile round trip each day across country. It was very reliable, easy to handle would cruise at 65 MPH on speedo and do about 72 flat out . It cornered well and the rather soft back brake would get you out of trouble even when braking on bends. It was also very stable in cross winds but was a bit buffety at speed. I did a run of over a 100 miles on A roads with out problems. I was less confident on the motorway but it kept up with the traffic well enough. I think its quite powerful for a 125. I bought a gel cover for the seat which greatly improved the comfort .

Can somebody tell me where to buy a windscreen for epicuro 125?

invigorator

How do I easily remove the rear wheel?  Do I need to remove the exhaust or can I loosen the bracket that holds the exhaust on enough to slip the wheel out?
