Solid Little Runner

I purchased my 11 year old Suzuki to replace my 3 year old Kymco Pulsar which was a total loss through an insurance claim. Between owning these two bikes, I was riding a Yamaha YBR 125, and so have a reasonable base to review the GN.

For one, despite being years old the build quality is much better than the Kymco. Not because the Kymco was poor, but because the GN is just built to a better standard, and that shows in it's age.

The GN looks very nice and feels more compact and balanced than my old Kymco. The bodywork is indeed minimal,so less to damage. If looked after well the GN is very pleasant to look at.

The most exciting thing for me was the ride. The engine is very smooth as is the gearbox, and compared to the Kymco the clutch is better. The Suzuki also sounds nicer, and seems to have a fair balance of power throughout the range of gears. On riding along the same roads as the Kymco, the ride was better and very comfortable.

With 20,000 miles on the clock it's also doing well on reliability, something which was a large winning factor for me. Everyone I have met considers them bombproof. Would I have this or the newer YBR? I would have the GN on all accounts. The YBR had no character, and though a very well made machine, just didn't interest me.

Pros: Solid, build quality, looks, all the mechanical parts work well.

Cons: Prefers to take hills at it's own pace! No real issue.

Amazing Bike

I have had my GN for just over a year and its been amazing. when I brought it it had 9,000miles on the clock and now has 13,000 and its never let me down.

The bike feels very light and nibble in traffic and on the country roads. the tyres are not big fat road tyres but they have plenty of grip.

The Suspension is very effective in taking sharp jolts from potholes and not to bouncy.

The engine is great, slightly difficult to get going on a cold morning but once she's warm she's fine. Pulls well though all the gears and I get a top speed of about 65mph, though maybe more if I was willing to push the engine higher.

Exhaust sounds great for a stock exhaust, really beefy sound though far from ear piercing.

The body work is simple, 2 clip on panels housing the battery and the air filter. The chrome mud guards and exhaust look with a bit of polish.

My overall conclusion of the bike is that it is great. a great first bike or a great bike for anyone! Handles great, sounds great, looks really good and engine is fantastic and does the job superbly. If you buy this bike you will not regret!

Had My Fym Suzuki 125 Gn For 8 Months And She's A Star!

Bought my Fym suzuki 125 gn 8 and a half months ago and iv =e never had to repair or rebuild a thing! im nearly 10 stone and im 5"9. on a long straight i hit 73(ish)mph without too much of a push. going down a hill with a slight negative gradient, i have had past the 80 mark without red lining. the bike has 5 gears but if you put a 6th gear into it she would SMASH the 90 marks and make it easier to cruise on. the bike ticks over very smoothly and is fairly quiet. everything is standard on it and works like a dream. ive had a lot of experience with 6 different 50cc's and 3 125's and i can honestly say that the suzuki has been the quickest and most reliable bike ive ever had. Very very economic! does and easy 95+mpg cruising. such a reliable enginge and is vertually bullet proof so dont worry about it being "hammered" around a little.

Great 125cc Bike

Hi,

I'm a great fans of 2strokes bikes and previously hate 4strokes. I guess because of bad experiences I had riding 4strokes 125c bikes of some friends. They were sooo slow on the first gear and they reached 100km/h with big effort. As my 2stroke Suzuki A100 (yr 92) riding cost was becoming too high, decided to have a 125cc 4srtoke ( for low cost maintenance reasons) even if in the start I was not that excited.

But now i'm happy riding my Suzuki GN125cc. Got bike since 8 month now and made a great deal. Its economic, reliable and great 125cc cruiser for cruising around the island (yes i live on a tropical island in the indian ocean) :) And srangely, compared to my friends 125cc 4stroke bikes, i can easily reach 100km/h with stock engine & parts. Oh...i forgot...even reached 125km/h without any mod made to the bike ^^

Great Little Bike.

I`ve been riding bikes for over 14 years and have had everything from sports 600`s to a chopper (bad move) so like to think I know me bikes ! Been without a bike for a few months due to garage space so thought I would get a little 125 to commute on. Had my 2007 black gn for about a week now and I think its great, makes me smile just as much as my big bikes although in different ways. It handles great, its nippy in traffic and is great for a blast along country lanes. OK I except its never going to be great on the M6 but for day to day use is a great bike which I find as much fun as anything I`ve ever had plus it cost next to nothing to run !! Think it will be around for awhile, its a lot more than a learner bike its just a great bike full stop. Facts: more than happy to cruise at 55mph (Im 13 stone) had 65 out of it but thats not what im about ! Getting 100 plus mpg £16 to tax and £59 to insure (40)living the dream, get one !

I Got This Bike As My First Bike, It Was A Gift Fr

I got this bike as my first bike, it was a gift from my parents so naturally I am thrilled with it! I completely stripped mine to clean it up and fix any issues as it is second hand. The bike is very very easy to work on and service so its a perfect introduction to bikes! It also looks great. Parts are easy and cheap to obtain if needed. It only needs a litre of oil for a full change!

The riding position of the bike is upright and comfortable, you could sit on it all day. Basically its as easy to ride as wiping your behind. Its really REALLY cheap on fuel I've clocked over 250km on a full tank and still didn't need to go to reserve. The engine itself is absolutely bulletproof and will handle any abuse you give it. Change the oil every 2500km is plenty to keep it running well. Besides that the filter, plug, cam chain and valve clearance are good for alot more mileage. I weigh 9 stone about 52kg and I have gotten 110km/h on a slight downhill but that's pushing it. It will cruise all day at 80-90km/h no problem.

All in all a brilliant starter bike and a great alternative to a scooter.

My First Bike, Perfect For Me Beging A Girl. But E

My first bike, perfect for me beging a girl. But even me standing at 5ft 5 thinks its a bit small. But i couldn't have bought a better bike. I've fixed loads of things up on it and being 17 and not knowing anything about mechanics i'm pretty chuffed with that :) CHEAP, RELIABLE, FUN, perfect for learners. I recommend this bike to every learner out there!

The Gn125 Is Great Bike To Ride, Had 70mph Out Of

The GN125 is great bike to ride, had 70mph out of it along a strait (after going downhill) and that was pretty much it, few revs more but wouldnt trust going that much futher (atlest for now)

great for around town, great thing to learn on, has enough power to pull a wheelie (done one, didnt mean to, was trying to pull away)

great for the money as well, cheap on fuel (10litre tank/2.2gal)

cheap to repair as well (even though it is a bit of a pain to find parts, but when you do, they are pretty cheap) also easy to work on when needed to.

cheap to insure as well, so a big thumbs up from me! (and im 17yrs old, still cheap for a 125)

Q&A

Bikingmike

I bought a GN 125 for my wife to learn on. Although the bike is in fairly good condition it's very slow on acceleration and struggles to reach 70KM/h on a flat road. I know this is not a sports bike but most people get upto 100km/h.

Any suggestions please?

BrianCronin

I am considering buying a GN 125 (2012), but see that the model was 'discontinued' in 2001. Was a new version of the GN 125 launched after 2001, and are there significant differences between these models?

kasun85

Does anyone know how to identify an original GN125 bike?
