Best Of 125's World!
Big and comfy. Bullet proof engine with proper maintenance.Mine done 39Kmiles but compression is 130 in each pot. Slow? Not really. Doing 65 with easy.Underpowered, Of course!it's just 125cc bike! !!! Get bigger for power and speed))) Bad things - unavoidable rust on front wheel rim, expensive parts(comparing with other 125's) and ....hills)) Oh! Another problem -due to size ,folloving you drivers sure that yuo can ride faster and sometimes thinking that you teasing them especially))) I'm happy with bike and have no plans to change .Will reccomend to every one wanting ride bike not a dog))

Love My Bike
Had the bike for around 4 months. Used to ride a Suzuki intruder but moved onto the bike I originally wanted, the Dragstar 125.
The bike is a cruiser so not fast (65ish mph) but you don't buy a cruiser for speed, you get it for comfort & the look.
The Dragstar is an incredibly comfortable bike with a good seat height for my 6' 8" self. It's one of the heaviest 125 bikes out there but that just helps it stick to the road.
Easy to get parts both old and new via online sites like ebay and there are loads of accessories out there to make it you own.
Even with my limited mechanical knowledge basic maintenance on the bike is simple but for any big things (being a Yamaha) almost any bike mechanic can help you out.
The only downside on the bike is it's susceptibility to rust and it'll get to the places that are really hard to get to. Most cruisers have this problem though due to the bikes parts being exposed without the fairings of sport & tourer bikes. A coat of ACF50 will sort that.
Second hand (and that's all your gonna get since they no longer make them) you can get them from £600 - £1800+, so if you get a good price you'll be laughing. Don't look at the age of these bike it means nothing. If they have been taken care of they'll last forever.

I Love This Bike !
Been riding my 12 year old 125 Dragstar for just under a year now after selling my car to save money. Just love the way it looks, sounds and rides. Whilst not the fastest around, it comfortably does 65-70 without any problem, and just looks like a much bigger bike at the same time. Easy to ride, cheap to run, comfortable, and to be honest, even once I pass my next part of the test, can't see a reason to upgrade. A quality product for a really reasonable price.

A Nice Bike
A nice bike.Ihave mine about a year.it isnt great speedwise and handeling on country roads leaves alot to be desired.but it definately turns heads and has a nice sound, its reliable mecanical wise.the thing that annoys me is that 70 percent of the chrome is plastic pieces which scratch easy and just takes away from the overall quality of the bike. That makes it harder to keep a clean bike. But no company makes them like they used to and on a small budget this is a good bike.So if your looking for something thats easy to run looks good and is reliable and not too powerful for a beginner then id apsolutely recomend it.

Yamaha Xvs 125 Dragstar
I bought my Yamaha XVS125 Dragstar 6 months ago I had just passed my CBT and wanted something until I turned 21 and could obtain my full unrestricted license... Always been into cruiser motorcycles and this model caught my eye straight away as its a large looking/feeling bike for a 125cc...
Many people complain you cant get more than 60mph out of it, for me purchasing a cruiser motorcycle was never about the speed, with L plates I was unable to ride on the motorways anyway and so this isn't an issue... I've had a little over 70mph out of my beauty but I was travelling at night down hill on an auto route in France (plus I'm 6ft 2, and I only weigh around 13 stone).
The bike was everything I wanted in my first bike its comfortable, it turns heads even when next to bigger bikes I've received numerous compliments and nobody realises its only a 125cc. I bought the bike down in south Wales and rode it 250miles home, I recently rode 1200 miles from Blackpool to the South of France at Christmas and although it took me a little longer the experience was well worth it.
The Bike is definitely good value for money at approx £1500 and I would recommend this to anybody for a first bike...

Love The Look, Handles Ok, Sounds Nice, But My Fac
Love the look, handles ok, sounds nice, but my factory standard XVS 125 Dragstar wont do more than 45 mph. Hits 45 in fourth, change up to 5th gear and only the revs change, nothing else. Got no idea why, the engines arent built with any restrictions. Had it checked over, mechanically its sound apart from the speed issue. This lets down the whole bike. My cheap chinese import was way quicker than this.
Just because your bike has an issue, does that mean its the manufacturer whose at fault? the bike is 9 years old, i think its quite likely something might have happened along the way to make it lose top end power.

I love this bike it dose 75mph with no wind it looks, rides and feels fantastic for a 125 i am so proud of my Yamaha Dragstar.
Me and my mate go out cruising him on a honda vt shadow 125 and me on my Dragstar and we are always getting attention from other people, people are always saying that my bike looks and sounds much bigger than a 125.
I recomend this bike to anyone wanting to begin riding.

The Yamaha Dragstar Xvs 125 Is The Best Learner Le
The Yamaha Dragstar XVS 125 is the best learner leagle cruiser you can buy, it has a beautiful v2 and it runs like a dream and although it will only reach a top speed of around 70mph that is plenty of speed if you are still learning how to use gears.
