Best All Around Bike To Own

The F650 CS Scarver was ahead of its time. 90 percent of every ones riding is around town and this is a nimble, quick and easy handling machine. The other 10 Percent this bike exceeds on speed and cornering. Easy to maintain, handle, store and ride.

The only thing I don't like is foot rest position is fairly high for a commuter bike.

Ideal Bike For Born Again Biker Who Wants An Easy

Ideal bike for born again biker who wants an easy reintroduction back to bikes. However after regaining biking confidence found it a little underpowered. My son used it to learn on before moving on to a Ducati Monster which raced ahead of the 650Bmer on rideouts. Single cylinder vibration is noticeable on long runs. BMW servicing quite expensive but always got excellent customer service. I love the cleanliness of the belt drive although probably not as efficient as a a chain drive. Overall very happy 650CS owner.

Nimble, Forgiving Of Rider Error. Great Turn Radiu

Nimble, Forgiving of rider error. Great turn radius. Simple design always begs the question: "That's a BMW?" Great conversation starter at meets.

Best beginner bike money could buy for advanced rider who did not want to leave a $25,000 toy in garage 75% of time. 2005 with 2600 miles. Cheaper than a therapist for short rides just ot let go for a little while.

I Think The Bmw F650 Cs Is A Bike Solely Aimed To

I think the BMW F650 CS is a bike solely aimed to the town rider (especially if you live in London like me).

The vibrations are just too excessive for long motorway journeys. But if you mostly going to be using it for short bursts or in town, it is perfect.

Basic design and engine means nothing ever goes wrong, solid engine long intervals between services. I loved it as a town bike.

Plus it kept its price very well.

The Bmw F650 Cs Is A Very Excellent And Economic B

The BMW F650 CS is a very excellent and economic bike for everyday use. It has a very solid and serious mono cylinder engine. It has excessive engine vibrations on motorways.

Being A Female And A Girly One At That It Has Been

Being a female and a girly one at that it has been sooo hard to find the right bike for me at 6 ft. tall. I have really enjoyed the ease of ride as I have taken on motorcycling in the last few years. But I sure do not find it easy to keep up with the hubby's busa on my BMW F650 CS!

I Think It Was In '98, A Bmw 650 "funduro" (a Dumb

I think it was in '98, a BMW 650 "Funduro" (a dumb name, the more so because it is not an enduro).

I don't recall now if they put a counterbalance weight in to dampen the single cylinder vibration, but whatever they did it was very smooth (and powerful)for a single. You could go up to 85 mph and it was steady and still had reserve.

The amenities included a lockable tool

compartment with tools under the seat.

The seat was comfortable for its class.

I turned it in for a '99 1100 RT. The main reason for the upgrade (although you could find many if you tried) was the 1100 windscreen followed by the 1100 fairing, giving wind protection for a comfortable ride.

I see the hard core Harley riders who eschew the windscreen for a bandanna which makes them look like highwaymen. I just don't enjoy a steady 70 mile-per-hour gale in my face for hours, thank you, call me a sissy if you like.

The BMW 650 was not made in Germany, of course, it was made in Italy "under German supervision," as it was said. As I heard it one or more German representatives were assigned to the factory to in some manner keep an eye on the workers and thus maintain German standards. Maintain discipline, one might say.

I don't have to point out the unfortunate evocativeness of this image. But at least now the workers weren't slave laborers.

As we know from history, the Italians never came up to German standards.

The 650 is a superior bike in its category-which actually seems to be a category of one. But it will always be an also ran only because--despite the blue-and-white badge--it lives in the shadow of its big brother with the true German genes.

Although Bugatti was Italian by birth, his cars were made in Molsheim in Alscace, which was part of Germany until 1919 and part of France thereafter. So perhaps Germany has it after all... Even the famous prancing horse of Ferrari was (I think) originally Austrian.

Very true. The Italians never came up to German standards in North Africa and other theatres of battle. But one arena wherein the Italians absolutely shine is pure style. Mercedes, BMW's and Porches may be wonderfully efficient, if teutonically-styled, machines, but never ever will they be as sexy as Ferarris or Buggattis. And which German can race motorcycles with "The Doctor?" Although in fairness, Michael Shumachher does dominate F1...
