And So The Zontes Story Continues

Zontes have done it again. And yet as I write this review they have upgraded this model from 310 to 350cc. I don't know why to be honest since the increase in engine size only gives you an extra 4 bhp.anyway I digress. On with the review. This is one of four models in the 310 range, 312cc to be precise. This is the naked version and is also the lightest coming in at 155kg which is virtually the same as the 250cc phantom which I have reviewed on here. Incidently I still have the phantom and after 6 years of ownership it still runs strongly. Proof that some Chinese manufacturers take things seriously.Ok so what do I think of this bike after all its not much bigger is it. No it is only 63cc extra and 11bhp more on the power but it is significantly faster both in terms of acceleration and top speed. I have just completed the first 3000km so next week it gets its second service. It's loosened up nicely and I can report it is so far faultless. Acceleration is brisk and smooth and it is raring to go. For a small displacement single this performs extremely well. I was very impressed to say the least. Top speed so far is just shy of 100mph indicated but I reckon as the miles rack up I might see slightly more. Because of its lightness and short wheel base handling is superb and so much fun on the twisties. This one sporty looking bike with single side twin silencers. Run the bike all day and you can still touch the exhaust, its cool to the touch. Handy if you carry a pillion.it's keyless ignition which is handy if someone fancies taking your pride and joy. They won't get it started. Just make sure of two things. Keep your battery in tip top condition under the seat, its electric as is the fuel cap. Also always carry a spare key fob battery. They normally last about six months I'm told. Now to economy. Expect 70-90mpg that's what I've achieved so far but apparently in excess of 100mpg can be accomplished, I'll let you know as the miles increase.this brings me onto another feature on the bike, an eco button. As far as I'm concerned I can't see the point of this and certainly no difference with economy so I leave mine in sports mode. A nice feature is however the switches that light up every time you put on the main lights. I've not ridden this at night time yet, need to wait for the darker nights but I'm informed that the lights are excellent. Brakes too are first class. This is my first review on this bike and I love it. It's light, fast, economical and handles well. I'm looking forward to racking up the miles and will return to give you a more in-depth review soon. My overall impression with zontes is very good. I'm still waiting with bated breath for their triple 800cc. Watch this space and stay safe out there guys!
