Love My Sm 50
Love my sm 50 had it for 2 years now and the only thing thats gone wrong is the gear selector spring which was easy and cheap to fix anyway. Mine's got close to 9000 miles on the clock and still going strong. Over all nice bike with good build quality also fast for a 50 mine dose 65 no trouble!

Cpi Sx 50
parts hard to come by, remember its a AM6 engine this makes finding parts easier also same engine as an aprilia rs 50. can be made upto a 70cc quite easy. But we have had tons of problems with this bike, can't get re conditions kits for back calipers, back light expensive. I would not recommend this bike because of parts and not many machanics will bother with them. Plus side is the size of bike get a lot of bike for money and when 70cc it goes fast. looks more like a 125. If you get a good one it can't be beat for value but a pig if things go wrong.
The engine is based on the AM6 engine but you will find the bore is smaller than that of AM6 so at the end of the day the AM6 piston will not fit. So just beware before buying parts make sure you do your homework first so you don't end up wasting money on parts that don't fit. You can fit the complete top end from the AM6 engine ie: Cylinder piston and head or fit a big bore kit designed for the AM6 engine.

I Have Had This Bike For 6 Months And Have Started
i have had this bike for 6 months and have started having bad problems with the gearbox and think it is fuked. it will only go into gears one and 2 and doesnt like to go back into neutral. if anyone could shed some light at what could be wrong that would be great
has it been serviced ? if so what oil was used , as the gearbox oil should be atf-q
Got a verdict from a mechanic!
It is a gear shift return spring that is broken so the gears are stuck. CPI engine parts catalogue says it's catalogue number is 51A-13322-10-00. Hope this could be of some help.
Have exactly the same problem here!
Mechanic says it could be gear selector, but I'm waiting for his final opinion. If you are still interested, I can pass the news when gives the final diagnose?

My Son Has Had His Sm50 For A Short Time Know And
My son has had his sm50 for a short time know and the two things we need to sort out on it are, the electric start doesn't work on it and the electronic display works apart from the speed reading and the mileometer all i need to do is locate the sensor . any ideas please?
Hi Guess you are sorted now, but had loads of probs with same bike including the two you have got. 1, sensor in the front wheel caliper and electric start was a cracked loom wire.
Hope it helps.

I have a 57 Plate CPI Supermoto, 8,800miles on the clock, paid £900.
Awesome bike, very quick, and clean looking, also a big bike ( had lots of people ask if its a 125) and Keeps up with my mates 125!
I've had 67 out of using these settings:13 tooth front, 53 tooth back and the rest apart from upjetting standard.
Bad things are:I've had two new throttle cables, doesn't like cold start, terrible mirrors
Apart from that greatest and quickest 50cc a 16-year old can ride on the road

I Have A 10reg Sx Modle With Black And Orange Viny
i have a 10reg sx modle with black and orange vinyls and gold wheels. My first ever road legal bike i've owned, seems to be all going well at the moment. however had a couple of problems, for example the rear break was coming on after about 20 minutes of riding, that was soon sorted with one bolt loosened off to allow the break pedal to retract fully. The ignition barrel has began to go a little stiff and i have a feeling will need replacing. The bike also needed a bit of throttle to keep it stalling when stationary but i've sorted that also. Had a problem with the starter motor not working, just making a buzzing sound, so i took it out gave it a clean and lined the gears back up and used lots of wd40 on it. been working fine ever since even in the cold mornings.
Even with the restricted speed of about 35mph i still enjoy riding it. keeps up with round town traffic. and its much easier than working home from college and work.
i've done about 1000 miles on it now so im planning on derestricting it. i'm buying a kit from this company http://www.cpimoto.co.uk/
They sorted me out with the bike in the first place and have loads of spare parts plus second hand cheaper parts.
i dont agree with most of the reviews on this site, the bikes reliability is all down to self maintenance and checking the bike over. plus you cant blame the manufacture for unreliability if you ride the bike wrong and damage internal parts. keeping it full of 2 stroke oil is vital! make sure its top of the range stuff aswell not some cheap nasty oil. also pay that bit extra for the better fuel.
much better and more enjoyable the a ped, looks better, sounds better, plus you look better when girls see you getting off it ;)
basically if you're 16 and want transport its perfect, one of the best things i've ever bought enjoy riding it everyday.
hope this review helps you out abit :)

Ive Just Bought A Cpi Sx 50 (59 Plate) And Ive Hav
ive just bought a cpi sx 50 (59 plate) and ive have derestricted it. It goes about 48mph and i want it to go faster could any one help because my mates cpi sm goes 55 to 60mph.
start by changing the front sprocket to either a 13t (53 mph) or 14t (58 mph) but will change the acceleration , slightly slower
Q&A
The temperature gauge keeps coming on my 50cc smx, but comes off as soon as I knock the throttle off . There is plenty water in the radiator and oil , any ideas?
