Yamaha Serow 250
I got his bike after my 225 serow was stolen, these bikes are hard to come by and when you have ridden one you can see why.
I have had the bike for 3.years and apart from flat batteries which is my fault it has not missed a beat.It now has road biased tyres but is still capable over trails.it is well built reliable and looks the part.Getting accessories can be difficult non of the 225 parts will fit.
I don' t understand why they are not dealer imported they would sell by the bucket load, perhaps then you could get a handbook in English, the Japanese one is hard to follow!

Before I Start With The Good/bad Points I Would Ju
before i start with the good/bad points i would just like to say my serow 250 has never let me down. when walna scar first opened up again i did it with 1x beta 450, 2x drz 400 s+e, 1x serow 225 and me on my 250 serow. in thick fog it was the 250 serow that conquered the mountain first with the 225 about 5 mins behind. the other more powerfull bikes couldn't do what the serows could do. any one who rode walna scar when it was reopened knows its a doolally of a trail especially in thick fog!
Yamaha has a quality bike here but they have made some (in my oppinion) realy dumb choices. tubeless rear rim? its silly as you cant find a decent legal tyre if your trail riding which is what its designed for. it weighs 115kg and the 2010 model weighs 130kg and has slightly less power for some reason? the additional extras are expensive to say the least. considering its a pedigree out and out trail bike it doesnt come as standard with a sump gaurd or brush gaurds? the suspension is too soft as standard. thats the negs out the way.
i love my serow 250, if your thinking of buying one buy models 07-09 as you have the fuel injection system and it weighs less then the 10 medols. the fuel tank holds 10 litres and is very good on fuel economy (could do with a fuel gage). hazard lights is an excellent idea on a bike. i dont realy notice the weight of it any more and it is very comfortable since i put 30mm handlebar risers on. with the suspension i have put thicker oil in the front and have jacked up the back. with the rear rim i have fitted a security bolt/rim lock call it what you will... and an AC10. i have splashed out on genuine yamaha brush gaurds, sump gaurd, disc gaurds, heated grips and crank/clutch case gaurds and although they look flimsy they are very very durable indeed apart from the crank/clutch case gaurds they are rubbish! it has taken me everywhere and i love the fact when you are doing a climb and you think its going to cut out, it never ever does! when every i go out and theres a trail rider about it never fails to draw attention. in a nut shell its a great bike and i dont think i am going to have anything else but it doesnt come brilliant from new.

I Was Told The Yamaha Serow 225 Was The Best Trail
I was told the Yamaha Serow 225 was the best trail bike in the world, and the 250 seems to live up to the reputation.
Bought as a grey import from Riders of Yeovil, with 3000km on the clock, it has yet to miss a beat. It starts first touch of the button, and once warm it ticks over like a sewing machine. Only five gears this time, but the 250 engine does have more low down grunt than the 225, so Mr Yamaha "lost" sixth gear. I am looking forward to a long relationship with this bike.
anyone know where i can buy a serow 225 regards
I have recently purchased an 05 reg 250 Serow and would like to a manual in English on the bike. Can you help.
