MG Rover Spares, Hull

I purchased an engine for my car when it was delivered paid £500 or cambelts and waterpump, oil change etc etc to be fitted and labor for a local garage to fit. Started carand the bottom end was noisey. Had numerous tales told by them to let the car run for an hour etc but kept fobbing me off! They said send it back! And expected me to pay for it to be removed etc and sent back before they would talk to me. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

I've used them quite a few times - they are reasonably local to me. They have a good stock of used MGR spares, more MGR vehicles in one place than most other local scrapyards. There is a big difference between buying parts remotely and buying them on the premises that you can see before you part with your folding. I have no complaints about them at all.

Buying used car parts is always something of a gamble - remember the vehicles have been scrapped in the first place for a good reason! However that is no excuse for any lack in customer service of the type reported by other reviewers here.

Rang them for a part which they said they had, travelled 40 miles to get there , as soon as i walked in the office i was informed that they didnt have that part. I have tried them in the past and found that rimmer brothers are generally cheaper on new parts than these guys charge for secondhand parts

Absolutely the worst people anyone would want to buy from ,they sold me a used engine with a 2 month guarantee , the engine does not work it is completely useless and I still have 6 weeks to run before said warranty expires,They keep fobbing me off with lame excuses, I am now taking legal action to recover all expenses.There is nothing to like about this shower of robbers.

I bought a secondhand engine of these guys and was promised a 'Long engine', which means it comes complete with a number of external parts.

Their website says that engines will be delivered within 2 days when in actual fact it took 4, by which time the engine in my car had been removed by my mechanic.

The MG Rover engine turned up leaking oil everywhere and clearly not as described as it had apparently had the cambelt go on it at some stage and obvious valve replacement.

The process of returning the engine to MG Rover Spares cost £69 and the reimbursement of the engine took ages and resulted in me selling my car for scrap.

Given that my experience of MG Rover Spares is typical, It is incredible that remain in business.

MG Rover Spares have cost me a lot of money and a considerable amount of distress.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!

BOUGHT AN ENGINE OFF THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS, IT NEVER RAN RIGHT FROM DAY ONE, SPOKE TO AN ADVISER ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WHO RECOMMENDED PUTTING AN OIL ADDITIVE IN TO HELP STOP THE TAPPETS FROM BEING SO NOISY (I SHOULD OF KNOWN THEN THE WERE COWBOYS)ALSO HAVE AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL I CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT WHICH I DID ALL THEY DO IS FOB YOU OFF TILL THE SO CALLED WARRANTY RUNS OUT. THEY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN, I AM NOW HAVING TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS AND LIARS. BE WARNED STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Stay clear of these robbers they sold me an engine which has never worked properly since having it fitted no power noisy tappets and overheats suspected head gaskets have gone even though they said they had been replaced and timing belt done stay clear

I ordered a part from this company after getting a price from online car parts supplier. the part, altenater, arrived, and was defective, rang and complained, 10 days later rang again as relacement hadnt arrived.eventually got part . that failed in the 2 month warranty period. sent back as requested. Now nearly three weeks later, no replacement recieved. staff either say it was posted, it hasnt been posted yet or, your order doent exist, you never ordered from us.

staff very unhelpfull, you can never speak to anyone in charge as they are never there. only customer services this company has is the mention on the telephone ansaphone.

would not recommend them to anyone.

These guys took my money for some parts they quoted me for.They had never dispatched my orders.Any time I call for an update,I was told the orders were sent and I should be receiving them the next day.Two weeks on and I have not received my orders.I insisted to take the tracking number to realise the orders were never been dispatched.

Many calls to have my money refunded had failed and they kept telling me they had put it through their account department to procees the refund.This is terrible!They are lying to me.

I have now contacted my back to raise a dispute to have my money refunded.

Please stay away from this company.
