Hopeless
I bought an Eckman hedge trimmer a few weeks ago and tried to use it for the first time today, but it failed completely to operate. The only way they will handle returns is by phone. I rang customer service and was asked to send a video of the item not working! I have never been asked to do this by any of the many momline companies that I have used, but they insisted. I took a video of myself operating the controls and the blades not moving, but the file was too large for my email to handle. I spoke to the same customer service person again who did not seem to understand that the video had failed to send. She passed me me on to her supervisor who said that it had failed because I tried to send it from my phone and that I should download it on to my PC and send it from there. Predictably, this did not work either. I rang back and spoke to a different person who eventually passed me on to a different supervisor who then told me that I should email a photo of the appliance to them and they would consider my request. This ridiculous sequence of events took up most of my afternoon and I still do not know what the outcome will be.

Exploit The Elderly
My mother ordered a winged heated (electric) clothes airer. When you order from this company, you have to also pay the postage. When it arrived, she found it so flimsy, it was impossible to use without it falling over. My mum is 93 and needs sturdy items. She needed to return it but there was no collection option by Home Shopping Selections. Obviously, the product, although not heavy at all, is large and unwieldy and is therefore not accepted by the main courier companies. Fortunately, I was able to take the parcel to the post office where they were able to deal with it (at a cost of £9 for the postage).
Younger people use the main online ordering platforms if they can’t get to the shops to purchase items like these, which offer free returns and is generally so much easier. But older people prefer their little catalogues and brochures which offer so-called “must have” items which are often of inferior quality and way more expensive. And if they charge to return, even worse. This company also stipulated that items must be returned within two weeks as well, not giving my mum much chance to find someone to take it to a Post Office.
Elderly people - please avoid companies like these who exploit you and try and find a younger relative or friend who can assist you to use a better value online retailer, where you’ll have the option to return if you are not happy with the goods.

Sub Standard Manufacture And Unable To Review Product
I purchased some Penshurst lawn edging from Home Shopping Selections. It was described as well-made, good quality and easy to assemble. Tge product arrived and in fairness from a distance looked ok and looked nice in my small front garden. However, the fence pins will not fit into the receiving holes for the following reasons - the pin diameter is larger than the receiving hole, the pin or hole snapped off and the pins and holes are not aligned. Because it looks quite nice and because if the hassle I have decided to keep the item. I have joined the pieces with black cable ties. It lost stars because I was offered no apology or discount from their customer services and more because I cant review the item on their website. Please font yse this company and waste your money, it really isnt worth it.

Where Is My Ninja Air Fryer?
I ordered a Ninja pressure cooker/air fryer priced at £99 on the 18th November 2020, to date ( 16-1-2021) still not arrived and despite 8 emails to the company enquiring as to where the product is or returning my money, no one has bothered to respond. The phone number given at the top of their website does not work either.

Promise To Pay Returns On Faulty Goods A Mith
I ordered a solar light, it was faulty on arrival, I asked for a replacement and was told if I sent my postage receipt they would refund my postage. I have contacted the company three times, once by telephone, and twice to send my postage receipt. It was a small amount some £4 plus but to date after 2 months no refund. I won't be using this company again.

Absolutely Useless Company
Ordered electric chainsaw arrived on time and all was well, filled with chain oil and used it for first time worked well but noticed after use oil reservoir cap was missing I no I tightened it up it worked itself free I concluded it was a fault on cap.I rang company who told me they could supply new cap but it would be chargeable this I accepted and agreed to pay, package arrived but no caps in envelope rang company they said they would send out more, same day I checked e-mails they said they were processing my return of the caps in their warehouse strange as I never had any delivered to return to them. New package arrived with different caps to the original but would not fit, to big. Rang office again 01/07/20 lady told me to pack saw back in the box and they would pick up package and when they had received it they would send new saw out to me. The day agreed was Mon 6/7/20 surprise suprise no one turned up rang office again 7/7/20 lady couldn't understand why it hadn't been picked up arrangements made for that day suprise suprise nobody called again, rang office 8/7/20 and arrangements made for Thursday 9/7/20 no one turned up again rang office 3 or 4 times on Thursday and rang 4 or 5 times no answer even though message says you will be connected to a operative. My advice is keep well away from this company their after sales service is non existant and they don't seem to give a damn about you you have been warned keep well away

Please avoid this company at all costs. They take your money immediately, you then cannot get through to anyone - I waited 30 minutes to get through several times which costs a small fortune using a mobile phone. They were useless, after said I would receive a refund in a COUPLE OF WEEKS! We’ll see if I do, but I doubt it. Absolutely useless and they almost laugh at you on the phone when you call them out on their behaviour and policies. Am reporting to trading standards also.

This trader advertises nationally through catalogues inserted in newspaper/magazine. That must cost a lot. Yet the reviews are generally appalling, which, as someone waiting for an unfulfilled order with diminishing optimism is disturbing.
Has anyone actually complained to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service, and if so what is the current situation?
