If You Want To Be Treated Well, This Is The Place For You

I don't know where the users are going to prompt them to write their negative reviews but it is certainly not the same place I know!

The Raj of India is a commendable restaurant with friendly staff and great food. The service is good and attention to detail exemplary; far better than what I receive when I eat elsewhere!

The manager is a man who ensures customers are treated well and looked after. The venom that has been directed at him reads like a personal attack and, as such, I suggest is ignored. He is an intelligent man, well-read, and knows what goes on in the world.

One user sarcastically commented "what a life". Unfortunately, that tells us more about that particular user than it does about the restaurant we are here to review or the man that fronts it! Perhaps the person who wrote that review should turn their attention to being more aware of the world and the society in which we live as opposed to writing scathing abuse about someone more knowledgeable than them. He does not presume to "know it all". To me, it is a pleasant surprise to have the manager be so willing to converse with his customers and be so smart that he can hold his own in any conversation.

The Raj of India is a great little restaurant for multiple occasions. It makes a friendly local and is ideal for birthdays and anniversaries. Would very much recommend it.

Spice And Flavour Wanted!

Tried the Raj while looking for a good local indian restaurant however this was not it! Spice and flavour were severely lacking in the dishes we ordered, the prawn rogan josh tasted of boiled prawns and was milder than water, the garlic naan seemed to be missing the garlic flavour (although you could see a few flakes of garlic) the sag aloo was swimming in excess water presumably the spinach had not been drained properly the list goes on and on ...

This is the worst curry we have ever had, stay away ... you have been warned

This Place Was The Best At One Time, But That's Hi

This place was the best at one time, but that's history. The service is constantly slow and waiters look like either their immigrants or junkies. The Food is okay but nothing special.

The manager must spend all day reading the newspaper in the waiting area because he knows all the stories in the paper, what a life eh... he tries to hard to impress people but fails miserably with that evil but annoying laughter of his.

Been Going To The Raj Of India Since I Can Remembe

Been going to the Raj of India since I can remember when Noor and Rob used to own the place. Than in came Hussain and his crew, some time later Hussain was told to get lost fron the place (By the main owner, Jack's father) because he always was too bossy and thought he owns the place all by himself.

Jack and his brother (Jack was Hussain's partner, his brother joined after his father's death in 2008) but they did'nt last because of the politics involved within the restaurant and also Hussain was deep down responsible for this too.

Now all of a sudden Hussain has appeard back with a grin and dirty look on his ugly face with new staff. Did you know Hussain beat the Chef up (who also was partner with Hussain and Jack from day 1) because he wanted to leave but Hussain did'nt want to give him his cut.

You can see where this all is leading to...a messed up restaurant that has changed hands more time than people change their clothes.

Now onto the food, it is'nt the same there anymore since the chef has changed! Service is slow and Hussain thinks he "knows it all".

I Have Been A Regular For A Few Years Now, And No

I have been a regular for a few years now, and no other restaurant has managed to keep me interested for so long.

The menu is great, especially the seafood selection and the ever-present use of fresh vegetables in all meals. The food is simply brilliant.

The service is infinitely better here than I have experienced anywhere else and the staff are always friendly and polite. Hussain, the main man, is always at hand and we've never tried so many new things before he came along! It's a new and improved experience every time.

Would gladly recommend to all!

The Quality Of The Food At The Raj Of India Indian

The quality of the food at the Raj of India Indian restaurant in Welwyn Garden City has changed in the past few months. Nicer dishes have been introduced in the new menu. The staff are excellent, and the restaurant is very clean and comfortable.

I've been going to this restaurant for a very long time, but I stopped going there for a while. I have recently been back and things have really improved since the new owners took over.
