The Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0looks good in red (people think is a sportcar!) but the clutch is rubbish, slow , drinks petrol like no tomorrow, a hard ride.

If I can get electrics sorted, it'll be best car all round that I've ever had. But little disapointed with the car. Problems with exterior and interior lights.

After 9 Years, The Vag Club Is Angry, In The Road

After 9 years, the VAG club is angry, in the road the most cars challenge it. No mechanical an electrical problems in 9 years. Design is modern now. With 17" wheels and xenon is the best.

I bought this because it looked good (bad reason to buy a car.) The build quality is poor - the passenger side cup holder opened and wouldn't close again, the LCD display on the mileometer went wrong and when it was replaced it set it back to 0 miles (I was not warned of this before they did it). The clutch gave up after just 27,000 miles. Despite there being lots of references on the internet about clutch problems, the dealership refused to accept this under warranty. I am so fed up with this car I'm cutting my losses and trading it in - and will not be buying another Hyundai.

I found this review helpful because its an honest assessment of a terrible car manufactured (thrown together from the corporate parts bin more like) by a second rate builder. You just need to look at the new Hyundai Santa Fe which is a poor quality knock off from last years Toyota RAV4...

The Hyundai Coupe is a city runabout with 10yrs anti rust, excellent build quality and good dealer network.

The 2l is probably the best version. Avoid the 2.7V6, there's no point as it's only got 20Hp more than the 2L, and the 1.6 is a slug.

Unfortunately looks good but fails to deliver its shark name.

The Hyundai Coupe/tiburon 2.0 Is Ok For 2 Up City

The Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0 is OK for 2 up city driving, but nothing to back up its sharp styling in the whizz department.

Better cars are available for less money.

Performance wise the 2L is the best of the bunch. 1.6 is an awful slug. 3.7V6 has only 20Hp more than the 2L with all the extra road tax, insurance cost etc.

Cramped for space inside, and serious blind spots out the side and at the back.

Very dark materials in the cabin combined with a steep sloped roof make the inside a bit of a cave.

This Is The Second Hyundai Coupe I Have Bought, I

This is the second Hyundai Coupe I have bought, I traded the last one in and got a very good deal from the Hyundai Dealership on my Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0. The last one I had was black and the kids called it the Batmobile! The latest one I have had since February 2006, is metallic blue. I preferred this color to any of the others. I have never had any problems with Hyundai Coupe. I have a family and the kids sit happily and safely in the back on booster seats enabling them to look out through the windows. I have found them to be 100% reliable and very safe. The boot space is massive for a coupe and the rear seats fold to give much more room. I have even slept in the back when on a fishing trip. The leather seats are very comfortable and can be adjusted to suit. This car is very driver friendly.

I have travelled many miles and suffered no driver fatigue. Those who knock the performance of this car are probably not driving it properly, the car is as good as its driver. I find it never struggles uphill and I can drive and accelerate at a good speed when required. The first thing most people go for when choosing a car is the look. And this one looks good. They have changed this in the 2007 model but only slightly, and I must say improved on perfect! If I can get another great deal which I believe I will, I will be changing my car again early next year, maybe for the red this time. I can fully recommend this car to anyone who wants something a bit flashy but wants to keep back some money for other things, like fishing! It's got everything!

What's your problem it's a budget coupe for the people and everyone who buys it knows that. I dont think I drive a lambo ! I drive a cheap but very reliable coupe . And admit it the shape of it is interesting so it's normal people to turn heads. So get real your comment is not acceptable even if you are a lambo driver.

rubblegum

It turns heads...laughing ones.

At last! A good review on a great car! I agree. The Hyundai Coupe is as good as the person who drives it. I am amazed some reviews say they can't see to reverse! It is easier to reverse than a Celica and many other Sports cars. And as for performance, I have no problems with it either. I have had my Coupe since March, and I am extremely pleased with it. It does turn heads!

Yaaawn! It's Hard To Find Anything To Like About T

Yaaawn! It's hard to find anything to like about this Korean bucket of bolts. Sports car it ain't! Shark it sure ain't! Quickest thing about the Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0 is the depreciation. I agree with most of the other reviews. Buy something else!

The Hyundai Coupe/tiburon 2.0 Does Most Things Ok

The Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0 does most things ok and nothing badly or well. Average & boring thing. This model is due to be discontinued 97-98 and re-launched, mostly due to poor performance and adverse press comment. Hyundai has shown a pre-production version of the new one in Korea along with a proper 3L supercharged engine which should sort the performance issues.

I didn't buy one..not so dim..there are far better cars on the market.

Anyway, anybody buying a new car needs a sanity test...depreciation etc. Better to buy 1 year used.

I own a repossession company. We have contracts with major motor finance houses to repo cars from people who don't pay.

BTW, it is far better to get a personal loan for cars. Motor finance is secured on the car, a personal loan isn't. All the lender can do is sue you not pull the car back.

Helen of Troy

He also thinks a Skoda Fabia is a Sports car, and a Toyota Celica isn't!!!!

fourth of july

Rubblegum do you really own this vehicle as you seem to know nothing or very little about it.

Helen of Troy

Anyone reading this review and comments, check out my review of same car written earlier this year and this guy's comments. Then he buys one??!! Well I am not fibbing in my review!! Use your own judgement!! Strange to be hell bent on slamming a car?! Great reviews before I wrote mine!! Very similar pattern of bad reviews since!! This car is great and when I eventually trade it in, guess what? I will get another!!! Maybe the CCS when launched, we will see! Anyway, the new 2007/2008 model design has been unveiled with not a great deal of difference to the styling so mine will keep looking good for some time to come....

Helen of Troy

So you finally bought yourself one!! Great looking motor isn't it! I did get the idea you didn't like them before though. Expensive exercise buying a car you don't like, just to slam it in a review!! Still, stranger things happen I guess!!!!

I Would Recommend The Hyundai Coupe/tiburon 2.0 To

I would recommend the Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon 2.0 to anyone who wants a sports car but not willing to give an arm and a leg to buy it. It's fun to drive and everything you want in a coupe. It made me get one, which I thought I would never get it because it's a Hyundai! I got it and here to give my verdict on it.

Not very cheap, but absolutely nasty.
