Terrible Insurer

they always have excuse to charge you extra money. Please keep yourself away from them. I have reported one of the customer manager (called James? can't really remember..) for his awful attitude and then unreasonable £250 charges. He phoned me back and told me I can do whatever I want and they do not care...! Please please please think before you go into their black hole.

Be Wary When Changing Your Address!!

I had been with Barclays insurance for roughly 3 years, I moved house and gave them a call to change my address details, after confirming my address they informed me that they could not insure my car in that area (6 minutes from my previous address) as it was high risk and they cancelled my insurance on the spot leaving me uninsured. The woman I dealt with was soooo rude, treated me like an unwanted dog, not a previous loyal customer.

Bought a new car mid-policy. They charged double the premium compared to other companies but I would lose all my money covering the remaining 6 months so had no option but to stay.

THEN the policy automatically renewed - never experienced that before for car insurance. Cancelled the policy as soon as I realised (1 days cover) and was told policy was cancelled and i'd receive a refund (for again double the premium compared to my new policy). 5 days later no refund - told I wouldn't receive a refund until I returned the Certificate of Insurance (which i have still not received !!!). Emailed a copy immediately so I could hit reply which would then allow my refund which I have to wait 5-7 days for. They took the payment within 1 day so why so long to receive my £570 back.

Despicable service. Will never use them again.

Absolute Nightmare,

Non fault accident, Barclays my insurer were not interested in my vehicle in anyway shape or form but more in my head, neck and back movement. I was not injured at all but this wasn't enough for this company. I have had to call a further 5 company's that in one way or another are relayed to my Barclays policy and no one is interested. They are even trying to put me with an accident managment company whom have gone into administration. I strongly advise against using Barclays.

I guess, on the plus side, they were cheap at the point of purchase, but a change of address cost me £25 in "admin fees" and a £200/year increase in premiums, despite the fact that other companies were offering the whole year for little more.

Not a company I'd use again.

Premium Hike

I have had my car insurance with Barclays for several years. I have in that time made no claims nor have there been any changes to my policy. In 2011 there was a 30% hike in the premium which I kind of accepted.

However in 2012, after again no changes my premium has increased from £700 to £1100 with absolutely no justification.

When comparing Barclays rate with 30 other companies their premium was the most expensive by £100.

Their attitude to my queries regarding this increase was unhelpful and condecending telling me that most of their customers were very satisfied.

Since I do not get to communicate with 'other' customers I wonder if this is indeed the case.

How many customers have experienced a 50% increase when all other factors remin the same. Needless to say I will be changing my policy.

Outrageous behaviour by what I believed was a reputable and honest broker.

Good Price - Terrible Claim Management

Bought Barclays insurance as I thought I was buying from a reputable Brand. Turns out that it is all fully subcontracted - you do not get what you think you are buying.

Since I made the claim I have had to speak to more than 10 different companies. To name a few Minster Law, BUD rescue and recovery, M&S repairs, Drive assist, Premier Claims service, Nationwide etc etc, there is no coordiation at all between these different companies and no one to let you know what is going on.

In summary Barclays use their brand to sell the policy but then have nothing to do with helping you afterwards. You are left with the chaos and confusion of their system.

We Can't Insure Your New Car!!!!

I've just moved house and about to change my car so I contacted Barclays to inform them of my intent. The address change went OK but when I told them I was changing from a 2litre Golf GTi to a 1.3 diesel Astra they said they couldn't insure me for the Astra!!!!!! I'm going to have to cancel my policy with no chance of a refund for the remaining 6 months. Barclays Insurance, you are a JOKE.

If anybody wants my advice, go with someone like NFU. They aren't the cheapest but the service is second to none.

STAY AWAY FROM BARCLAYS IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON CHANGING YOUR CAR.

Customer Service - What A Joke!!!

I went with Barclays Insurance because I have banked with Barclays for years so it seemed a good idea at the time.

They recently sent me an additional cost for 2010/11 which was an error. I tried to speak to Customer Service. They have an 0844 number that is almost impossible to get through on and when you get through they keep you hanging on for ages (I believe 0844 earns them a commission). There is FINALLY....Customer Services in India and they dont understand...nothing new there. But then when I got transferred to the UK, it was no better. He didnt listen, he was rude and he finlly hung up.

Shopped around and saved £120.00 on their quote but I would have moved EVEN if it had cost me more money!!!

I Chose Barclay's Because It Was The Best Quote We

I chose Barclay's because it was the best quote we could get for comprehensive.

Already in the second month we had trouble, as BArclay double billed us.

Then on the third month, we checked our statements, and Barclay had more than double what we paid, using the excuse that we had not disclosed information regarding previous claim, which we HAD!

When the time came for renewal, we called Barclay's to cancel. We made sure to confirm many times on the phone that we would NOT be renewing and that we would take insurance with someone else.

Well, Barclay never canceled it!! WHen we called to complain, they said there was no record of our call, so they charged us!! We have been trying to get them to put the money back in the account, but they say that we need to send paperwork to them first to confirm we have a new insurance as "we did not call them on time"

I am outraged! Not only are they incompetent, they make you feel like it is your fault. Reading the other reviews, I can see that double billing and price increases are common for Barclay's --- STAY AWAY!!!!
