Hotpoint CTD40

THIS MACHINE WAS MODIFIED RE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF FIRE RISK AND BASICALLY DOES NOT EVEN WARM THE CLOTHES. IT IS SO VERY USELESS AND UNTIL I MONITORED IT NOT DRYING IT WAS USING TONS OF ELECTRICTY TO NO AVAIL

I SHALL NEVER PURCHASE A HOTPOINT PRODUCT AGAIN AS I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH A HOTPOINT FRIDGE FREEZER!!!

after 2 years the only original thing left is the frame drum and motor and board everything else has been replaced and now its blown again so switching to a different brand, even when it was working it took ages to dry clothes.

Had this unit for a number of years and would say that it is prone to many breakdowns.

Have had thermostats changed on numerous occasions. Thereafter the heating elements. Now the belt has gone. Would seriously think twice regarding a Hotpoint product again.

This dryer has been with us for almost two years and has coped well with a small family and young'uns diapers. The water box is easy to empty and there is a number of settings that can be used, allowing me to turn it on and come back when it's finished - much better than those dryers that only have one heat setting and you have to check it every 15 minutes.

Looks smart. Could be a little easier to clean the second fluff filter and it is a bit noisy.

I just don't understand all the bad reviews. I've had my Hotpoint Aquarious Condensor Tumble Dryer for around 5 years and it's never let me down (hope this doesn't jinx it). I thought I had a problem once when I thought it was not tumbling (but kept a close eye on it and it was ok, must have been having a moment of madness) and telephoned Hotpoint. They offered me an insurance policy which would have repaired it for free for a year, it was about £100.

It is true you do have to rinse out the condensor unit,which is simply a drawer you pull out at the bottom (easlily cleaned in the bath) as it collects all the dust that washes through and you have to remove the fluff from the fluff filter, but this is general maintenance that I think you do with all dryers of this type.

When it stops tumbling, you need to empty the top drawer which fills with water otherwise it will beep at you before you start it again, to remind you, but if you know it's not that full, just press it again and it will start. It's better than the drawer overflowing!

This is such an improvement on my previous non condensor tumble dryer, which never used to send all the air out of the "chimney" and my utility used to be covered in moisture, which is not good as I also store things in it.

Maybe the newer ones are a problem, or no other good feedback has been given?

I just wanted to even out these reveiws.

motherboard has been replaced 3 times, keeps breaking down, totally unreliable.

had my machine for two tears,worked perfectly for first year and broke, no hot air coming through. had this repaired at a cost of £50. two weeks later it is broke again and apparently the mainboard has gone which is going to cost £150 to repair. not bothering as I was also annoyed at how long clothes took to dry and how difficult it was to clean filter. bad machine not worth the money

The filter is useless...have to keep washing the condenser otherwise clothes NEVER dry!!!! Worst piece of equipment I have ever bought and will certainly be the last Hotpoint!!!

Abolutely terrible machine - clothes always smell foul. The reason being the fluff filter is useless. Resulting in the fluff passing alround the machine, making it impossible to clean. The smell is the rotting mess and turns my stomach. Still working but have dumped it. Too dangerous to use and affraid of disease from it.

This is by far the worse electrical product we have bought. We have had this for about four years now and I've had problem after problem. It trips the electric, it takes HOURS and HOURS to get anything close to being dry, the lights are always flshing.....problem after problem. I have had people out to fix it time and again and now I have had enough..to the DUMP it goes and best place for it.
