Waited 3.5 Hours
Really upset and disappointed with this company. Broke down last night on way home from work (car stuck in gear). Was a woman on her own in dangerous high crime area. I phoned them straight away and was told maximum wait time was 90 mins. I asked if I could go home and come back (planned to get a taxi) as needed to get home to my baby and that I was a single mum with a childminder at home, they said they would come sooner than 90 minutes and just had to wait as if they turned up and no one was with the car they wouldn’t come back and help. I chased numerous times and no one could tell me what time I would be rescued. Eventually someone arrived after midnight and only after police involvement! The recovery guy said the job was only put on the system at 9:50pm despite me phoning at 8:30pm! Couldn’t fix car so was towed to a garage. Awful experience. Avoid avoid avoid!!!
No Recognition Of Loyalty
I had to call these people last Sunday evening, 19 February 2023. After a lot of chat - using up what battery was on my phone - I was told I had not renewed last December so could not be assisted until I paid £100 up front. I did this as I was on a dark country road, on my own, with a blown tyre. I had not realised I had not renewed the cover; I did not receive an invitation to do so, although this was probably due to the postal disputes taking place at the time.
I had been a user of Autonational Rescue since 1997 and in light of this I would have expected better treatment. I emailed them on my return home. I pointed out the fact that the normal reminder to renew was not received by me and I therefore missed paying what was due in late December 2022 and did loyalty not count for anything.
To date I have not received a response from Autonational Rescue and will now obtain breakdown cover from another provider. I am thoroughly disillusioned and disappointed with them. When I joined them in 1997 it was a smallish operation, but as usually happens when a company grows bigger, they have lost the ability to provide good customer service.
Buyer Beware!
First time I needed to make a claim, I was told I wasn't covered because I had brought another car. Zero concern and no help at all. Talk about money for nothing! And have just sent me a renewal reminder. They know where they can stick it.

Worst Ever
Please change to RAC or AA now to avoid disappointment when you need a breakdown service. Have been with this lot for over 10 years never needed then until yesterday. Well would you believe it I am not covered I explained what happened no help not interested will get supervisor to call you never did so I rang back the girl did not even know opening times of customer services. Today I called again to cancel my cover yes you guessed it sorry sir not entitled to any and anyway there is a £15 cancel fee. I am telling you this lot are so poor useless in fact rubbish company with useless staff. Will now join a proper breakdown company I really hope you lot now go skint all I wanted was some help and got nothing...

Very Disappointed
Had been using ANR for quite a few years , but then bought a car with a breakdown policy already on . so rang up ANR to ask for a refund of the remaining 8 months , but was quoted a ridiculous sum and a cancellation fee on top which made what id get back a rather unfunny joke. I asked if I could suspend the policy until the new cars policy ran out and then resume cover, only to be told no, it cant be done. So ive ended up with 2 policies on the same car. It left a rather nasty taste and the feeling of being RIPPED OFF. Although they are cheap and probably do a good job, I wouldn't use them again on principle .

Appalling Money Grabbing Cancellation Charges.....
I called to cancel my 91 year old fathers policy, he had renewed it on 6th October, but has just reluctantly decided to sell his car. He paid £75 but the company have only refunded £34, leaving them the grand sum of £51 for doing absolutely nothing!!!
Administration charge to cancel is £15 plus ANOTHER £15 cancellation fee, plus 30 % of the cost of policy for not even 2 months.....money grabbing at its worst.
AA does not cost this much for a year - try them.

Unhelpful
Called to cancel car policy due to selling car, I had 4 months left on it would not give me a refund or add extra time on to my policy as we had 2 cars covered with them on the same document. The call handler was Inexperienced wasn't clear and truly had no idea!!!! I have been with this company for over 10 years and on other occasions have had a refund with time left on policy. I think it's time for a change

2 Hour Wait Time
* Flat tyre - Almost 2 hours waiting for rescue (add to that, time to change tyre!)
* In London, in an area FULL of car garages (Acton/park royal)
* Was promised a call back which I never received - i had to call them for an update
* Refused request to pay for my taxi home as 2 hours wait is silly
* They seem to use 1 2 garages covering most of London (J Madden Garages, and auto-mania rescue)
* Competitors such as The AA and RAC promise to arrive in 35 mins... AutoNational took 3 x times as long
* I would dread to think how long it will take for them to arrive to someone in a country lane
