The United Dvd 3151 Dvd Player Is A Real Nice Buy.
The United DVD 3151 DVD player is a real nice buy. It works excellent for playing DVD discs. It is also very handy when you make your own movies. Just take a cd-r or cd-rw and burn an mpeg onto it and you can play it with no problems whatsoever on this DVD player. Another thing pretty interesting is that atleast i get better sound and picture playback on the DVD player than thru any other media player on the computer.
Overall, this is a winner.
If it is true that it helps to convert a movie into MPEG to be able to play it you have helped me a lot.
Thanks ( I hope)
/Anders

I Have Been Trying All The Features Of The Player
I have been trying all the features of the player and was very suprised. Most of the features are not mentioned neither in the box or manual. I was able to play all my SVCD but also MPG files I have saved on a usual CD-RW. Same thing for pictures I have just transfered to a CD-RW. MPG files with a rate higher than 6MB/sec dont play very well but it is anyway a rate you will never used for tv display. Pictures (jpg) have also a limit of size (out of memeory) I was not really able to determine what this limit is but I was able to see pictures of 1024 x 768 1280 x 1024 without problem (No TV set is able anyway to display so many lines :-)) )
I am very very happy with this DVD player as i can play most of my files on it. The only regret is the limited display of the files names on the navigator (TV screen) .. only 12 caracters.
I have bought it for CHF 175.-- / Euros 110.--
My advice: take with you Cd-RW with the files you want to display with your DVD player and tried them on before you buy it!!! It seems that in some countries the firmware is different and do not play all the files a mentioned. Do the same whatever DVD player you plan to buy!

I Bought The United 3151 2 Months Ago For My Frien
I bought the United 3151 2 months ago for my friend. The player doesn't play svcd! Recently I bought another one for another friend and that one didn't even play vcd! I think it's worthless!
remember to switch PBC of when playing some SVCD'es that works everytime on my united player
My parents bought a Euroline 6650 DVD-player this summer. It is supposed to play VCD:s but the stupid mashine won´t play any.
So I'm all with you on this one.
Everyone on the internet says it does take vcd and svcd plus Clas Olsson that says that their player supports vcd and svcd. Wouldn´t you be dissapointed when it doesn´t?!
you missed that it doesn´t support SVCD/VCD...
it isn´t supposed to play it...
although mine does.. :P

Bought My United Dvd 3151 Dvd Player At Clas Ohlso
Bought my United DVD 3151 DVD player at Clas Ohlson and not at Siba as all you other people from sweden.
The funny thing is that Clas Ohlson is marketing it as a region free DVD-player with support for VCD/SVCD even though Siba is still denying it. :)
Great value for money!!! Just as good as more expensive DVD-players from more exclusive manufacturers.
Noteworthy is that it cost 1495 SEK at Clas Ohlson instead of 1195 SEK at Siba. Must be because they have noticed that it supports things that it shouldn't.
Yep it works great! Here's how you set the regions on it. You can specify if you want it region free or not. SIBA, won't tell you, as they don't want to sell region free players!
Ok here's how you do it using the remote:
1) open the DVD tray.
2)press "3308"
3)press "0" (for multi region code)or if you want a specific region, "1" or "2" etc.
4) close DVD tray.
5) that's it, done!

I Bought A United 3151 Dvd Player Last Friday On S
I bought a United 3151 DVD player last Friday on Siba and two salesmen told me that the player didn't play VCD or SVCD. But i didn't trust them and bought it anyway. I when i got home I threw in a copy of Harry Potter and it worked fine. Now I don't know if it was a Svcd or a VCD. So I tried to burn a VCD in Nero and it also worked fine. This was the player that says Kodac photocd.
The salesman I bought from told me the same and also that it doesn't say VCD or SVCD on the front which is right.
Tried with nero but it doen´t work.
Maybe this player has two version but still I´m happy with it and it plays Mpg and Mpg2 instead.

I've Got The United 3151 Dvd Player From Siba And
I've got the United 3151 DVD player from SIBA and overall I'm pretty satisified with it. There's only one problem I've discovered so far, on some DVDs it's impossible to enter the menu. This is a real problem as a lot of my kids's movies starts playing with english sound and there's no other way to change language than through the menu.

The United Dvd 3151 Is Excellent Value For Money!
The United DVD 3151 is excellent value for money! Plays DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs, MP3s, and displays JPG files (PhotoCD)! Although SIBA (the Swedish retailer) offically denounces this, and no mentioning of the VCD/SVCD features are on the box!
Note that there is also a "better" version called United 3155. This player does NOT support VCD, SVCDs!!! (This fact was supported by the operater's manual which although similar in style to the 3151s, did not mention VCD/SVCD features at all.)
I can confirm this because I had the 3155 briefly, which features a built-in Dolby Digital decoder, thus rendering a higher price. (Odd that the VCD/SVCD support is missing) I "downgraded" to get the VCD/SVCD capabilities.
Also, beware of SIBA salespersons trying to "trick" you into buying an insurance/"region-free" package! You do not have to buy this, see elsewhere in this forum for changing region codes.
