Bad Costumer Service Lifetime Guarentee Not True

The costumer service is terrible I had my pram 16 months when my brake broke considering the pram comes with a lifetime warranty McLaren said it wasn't there fault and if it would of happened in the first 12 months they'd of sent someone to collect it and fix it not what I would call a lifetime.they were extremely rude and unhelpful I had to take my pram a good thirty minutes drive away and do three weeks without a pram to have it fixed it took so long because they had to order a part from McLaren who forget to send the other half and we was charged for the postage all in all I do not recommend any McLaren to anybody

Unstable Dangerous Maclaren Techno Xlr

We bought Maclaren Techno XLR for our 1 year old son a month ago for his birthday from Mothercare Malta (where we reside), because I thought that Stokke was not so stable and comfortable for him anymore as opposed to famous wide fully reclined Techno XLR. We loved it, our boy was comfortable sleeping, sitting, playing....The only concern was that he stroller could have been put on the back wheels easily with a small pressure, otherwise everything seemed perfect, including the reviews.. We were really careful not to leave anything on the handles.

Today Alex (our son) fell asleep in it for the night while we were in the restaurant. The stroller was not in a reclyned position but one level up. All he did was raise his legs and the stroller fell backwards. He banged his head bad and obviously woke up in shock crying hysterically, thanks god there was a doctor who actually examined him there and then, telling us not to put him to sleep in case there was a concussion. Thanks God in the stroller pocket there were some socks and muslin squares which softened the fall and after half an hour Alex calm down. If it wasn't for the padding it would have been worse as the restaurant had marbel floors. Mind you, there was nothing hanging on the stroller. In the net there were two nappies and a packet of wipes. I was sitting next to the stroller and in a split second it was on the floor on it's back .I have a whole restaurant of witnesses.

From now onwards, me and my husband are freaked out to leave my child in it. I am extremely disappointed because my son could have been really hurt in a pram which has been called, the safest and the best umbrella stroller on the market. How do you want me to want to use it if i dont trust it. I am always trying to get my son the best and the safest of what there is on the market. I've paid 464 euros for something that may really hurt him.

Maclaren Knows Best!

When I had my daughters over a decade ago, I wasted so much money in pushchairs. Think I bought around 8 in a 3 year period. All of them were poorly built and bulky. So when I had my son last year, I knew to go with a maclareb as they've been around for Years!

I got the full XLR package with car seat. And I have got to say I love the Thing! I didn't bother with the soft cot as, from my experience, I just have no use for Moses baskets etc. my son is now 10months and has plenty of room to grow in his pushchair... Where as most prams are struggling to accommodate a 1 year old. The cosy toe is comfy and everything is machine washable (including car seat covers!). Sun screens ae good, but if the sun is bright, I do the same as most parents and tie some muslin to it.

I read the other review about off-road use, and I can assure you; a maclaren may struggle (hasn't been my experience) but other pushchairs would lose a wheel! I think maclaren know what they're doing and they do it so well. It's not usually the pushchair of choice for the first time parent, you usually h e to waste money on loads of other prams before realising this is all you need!

Honestly cannot fault it!

All You'll Ever Need From Birth

Two years ago when expecting our first child and intent on buying a Mamas&Pappas Luna I used this site as a last minute guide on buggies, I found it had negative feedback therefore opted for the XLR.

We wanted a reasonably priced buggy/car seat package that would be ideal from birth to 4 years (How do company's justify £1000 in a recession). The XLR and Recaro Isofix car seat Package seemed like the ideal choice at around £500.00

Two years on and its performed faultlessly. My wife doesn't drive so it gets daily use, its been a fantastic buy. We are the only family that still has their original buggy (some parents are on there 5th, such a waste!) Its been all over the world. Last year on a fortunate trip to Florida we noticed countless Maclaren's which in my view speaks volumes as they are huge critics.

We've now a second child and looking at just getting a buggy board.

I wouldnt normally post a review (unless negative) however hindsight can be a great thing especially that feeling you get that after 2 years you made the right decision. (we would also recommend a Respisense)

We would suggest not bothering with the soft cot as didnt use ours (however it does double up well as a Moses basket.

Pros

Durability

Sun hood

Easy to fold

British built

Good luck in your new adventures as a parent!!

Plus Points: Very Light And Easy To Manouvre

Plus Points:

Very light and easy to manouvre

Easy to fold up

Looks good

Cons:

Sunshade is rubbish, constantly moves back up and as soon as you put anything in the pocket it just pulls it back

The viewing windows usually has the sun beating through.

Don't find the seat very supportive, my daughter is constantly slipping down, and the harness never seems to fit right...that might be me not Maclaren!

Plus it is rubbish off road i know that's not what it is designed for but even the slightest rough patch it struggles.

We've Bought Our Maclaren Techno Xlr Since My Daug

We've bought our Maclaren Techno XLR since my daughter was born, Sept. 2009. It's not a great buggy for a newborn, but we didn't want to buy a second one and we ended up using it since. I think overall it is a nice buggy, easy to use in the public transport, etc. The main problem for me is the so-called sovereign lifetime warranty. Recently, I left our buggy near a heater radiator in a restaurant while we had lunch and when I returned the plastic piece that runs inside the hood was melted. As result, we can't use the hood any more. I don't think a buggy part should melt so easily, it's too fragile in my opinion. Maclaren won't replace it and a new one is going to cost around £50.

Q&A

The brakes of my XLR are completely broken. Its is a second hand buggy, probably well used. I would like to buy new brakes for the buggy but don't know where to buy them. Please, advise where I can buy them and how much do they cost?
