Pleasant Looking, Good Price And Reliable

I have recently bought the a 2010 Fly 125 second hand with 10'000 km for abt. half the selling price when new. This is my first scooter and am very pleased with it.

Good top speed, extremely good brakes and very nice looking. Quite a lot of space to put the helmet, gloves etc.

The new 3-V 2013 has a couple of BP more which is good but even the power of the 2010 version can do the job well.

I use it frequently to roads on hills.

The only negative thing I can see, is that it is quite heavy to park it. I am not a weak man but I believe this is not that comfortable or easy for a woman.

Little Pocket Rocket

Small but good acceleration not to good going up hills as struggles abit, flimsy & cornering can catch you out on them tiny wheels. Kick start mechanism is poorly made & engines if thrashed will break easy. Fun but fragile & overpriced as most italian scooters.

Do Not Buy This Bike

Bought one a year ago as it appeared ok and was cheap. Stupidly I didn't test ride it.

The suspension is terrible, words cannot convey just how bad it is.

It started fine at first but just got worse and worse. Went back to the dealer who said that they could find nothing wrong. With the onset of cold weather the starting became even worse. Missed my train to work many times as it just took so long to get started in cold weather.

It's also very slow off the line and can only just out accelerate learners!!

It's gone now thank goodness and has been replaced by a far superior Jap bike beginning with H. No more worries about starting and proper suspension.

They shouldn't be allowed to sell bikes this bad.

You just have to read before buy. It is nice bike for begining. In cold time do not tuch accelerator when you start engine - it is carburator. Suspension is good inough for very light bike 106 kg. I ride it every day. I would like proper bike as well, something like burgman 650 or T-max 530. Compare it. 220 kg good start perfomance suspension and *goog price* 8500

Dont Touch With A Bargepole

in oct 2011 i bought a little piaggio fly 125cc in midnight blue with a topbox for £2120 otr..thinking it would be ok & cheap to run...i& my wife needed something to nip out for work etc..at the price it seemed ok..there were cheaper & more expensive alternatives available..i didnt do my homework properly & bought a lemon.i used it for work that day & finished at 1 am..it wouldent start..& stank of petrol..i left it & tried 10 mins later..once again ..it wouldent start...so i left it for a further 20 mins...& hey presto it spluttered into life..but ran very rough..it only pulled me home the 2 miles at 20 mph....i wasnt impressed..the wife tried it again at 7 am..to go to work..& guess what...it wouldent start..so off i trundled & ran her to work..i rang the dealer who collected it the next day..36 hours later i picked it up..but it was running /ticking over very high..so high in fact the rear wheel was spinning very fast & it was moving/ vibrating along it self on the stand..no good..i had him adjust it back down..to a more reasonable rpm..all seemed well for a few days..but once again the same problem cropped up//& it cut out /stalled on the wife twice..she left it parked up & walked to work..i got it in the neck...back on the phone..once again it was picked up & returned to me a week later..needless to say it only had 500 km on the clock or 350 miles..not good enough...the problem started again so off i went to the dealer ..who collected it & gave me a full refund..the dealer glr in hoddeston herts was excellent & couldent be more helpful or appologetic..ive now took delivery of a 61 reg piaggiio carnaby 125cc in graphite grey with top box for £2400..brilliant..much better..all round..at least it starts & runs..it was the scooter i should have bought..so id take my £2500 & buy a yamaha cygnus 125cc.or city x 125cc or a used piaggio x7 evo..or even a carnaby..but these seem to be as rare as hens teeth for some reason...dont know why as they are brilliant..il leave a review for the piaggio carnaby in a few weeks when ive done a bt of mileage..but stay away from the piaggio fly ..you buy one at your peril..aparantly the leader 125cc engine fitted to the fly & various other models are prone to cold start problems check the forums...& they are all built in china check under the seat its a zongshen unit...but look elsewhere im just glad i got rid of mine..

You may have bought a one off as I have had mine for 5 years and still starts first time every-time.

Regular service and TLC will see you through. On bad experience does not make a bad scooter/moped.

martinasante

Well everyone has an opinion.I have a 57 plate piaggo 125 no issues and runs great. The engine tried and tested and will serve you well.

I Own A 'piaggio Fly 150' , It Light ,very Easy To

I own a 'Piaggio fly 150' , it light ,very easy to ride . The main strengths are it has long service intervals every 6,000 kms ,and run in serive 1,000 kms ,with a proper oil filter , what I really like about Piaggio is all italian , it has a vespa lx 150 engine , there no at all that I do not like the 'Piaggio Fly 150 2010' .

Compared to the asian scooter that required high maintence cost and low service intervals , there is no comparison. What attracted for me to purchase the 'Piaggio fly 150' , is the long service intervals , and the iconic Italian style tradition of 'vespa' , 'piaggio' .

There nothing in the marketplace today comes even close to the Piaggio range of scooters .

Coming for sym scooter 250 to the Paiggio fly 150 , is really glad I did , I decided from now on I always will stick the Piaggio , Vespa range scooter.

cheers.

I have no cons about the Piaggio Fly 150 2010.

It really is well worth to have a look at .

I always wanted a 'Piaggio 'scooter . It all Italian.

I Had Needed To Get Rid Of My Old Car, It Was Gett

I had needed to get rid of my old car, it was getting on a bit and was rarely used. A new car wasn't worth it and we struggled with parking everywhere. A scooter seemed like the ideal solution. I have done a fair bit of research and the Piaggio Fly 125 has always been rated highly. The price was excellent for what you get. Engine wise its been reliable, a bit more difficult to start in the cold but nothing that a little throttle couldn't sort out. The performance is good. Acceleration is brisk allowing you beat most cars off the line without any issues although other bikes although might beat it if your a bit of a boy racer. The top speed varies alot depending on the weight and this varies alot. My oxford chain slows the top speed by about 5mph and the acceleration has a noticeable drop. I weigh about 83kg and its good with the chain and shopping etc. The speedo is about 4-7mph out (depending on your speed) and it usually indicates 60mph-65mph top speed. I have had an indicated 70mph downhill before, it doesn't seem to struggle either. The suspension is good and the grip is good. I struggled initially with countersteering and mistakes when going around some corners makes you realise that the bike is fairly heavy, but it feels very well balanced so now I am used to it, it feels quite fun. Storage is excellent. I can fit a full face shark helmet under the seat or in the rear box. There is also a lockable glovebox. The bike no longer comes with an immobiliser as standard on the 125 or 50cc versions, according to the dealer. My bike has the light but not the immobiliser which was annoying and the standard headlight was rubbish so I replaced it straight away with a better bulb. Overall I am very pleased. With an unlimited budget I would have considered a liquid cooled engine but I can't complain.

I wrote the above review a while ago and have owned the Piaggio Fly for about a year, I haven't got around to taking my test as I can't afford to right now. I was hoping to take my test on this without additional instruction but the engine doesn't qualify it for the full test, If you were to do the test on this bike you will be limited to a 125 CC bike (automatic) which really annoyed me. The speed now remains fairly constant at about 60 mph, sometimes going to 70 indicated (roughly 60mph top speed). Its good for all round use and keeps up with traffic easily, although I do notice more powerful bikes having more opportunities to overtake on the bigger roads. My only other issue is a bump in the seat that makes it uncomfortable no long journeys (over an hour and a half). Other than that it's been very reliable. Still wish I had gone with a liquid cooled bike though, mainly to be able to take the UK test on it.

I Am Not An Experienced Scooter Rider, So I Was Lo

I am not an experienced scooter rider, so I was looking for a bike that was reliable, safe, sturdy, easy to ride and easy on the eye, as well as cost-effective and speedy. Not asking too much then!

The Piaggio Fly 125 satisfies all my requirements admirably. I did my CBT on a Vespa, and this Fly is a much more solid ride. The bike is a little bit heavier than a Vespa, which adds to stability when riding, it has larger wheels than the Vespa, and a slightly larger top box for storing all my goodies. It also costs £700 less than the Vespa LX 125cc equivalent.

The brakes are fantastic, steering is easy, seat is VERY comfortable. Accelleration is fab - I can keep up with larger engine motorbikes easier when pulling away from traffic, yet the bike is nimble enough to filter through and around traffic when needed.

I was concerned that I hadn't seen many Flys out on the road, so wondered if there was a reason they weren't as popular - I think it's purely down to looks. Most people who want a scooter want to scoot in style. The Fly is more like the Vespa's older, more sensible brother - considering this is my first bike, sensibility was very important to me. I also think that it is less likely to get stolen for the very same reason.

I have never ridden a bike of any kind before; the Piaggio Fly is making it easy. I have commuted into central London on trains/tubes for 10 yrs now and the journey would take me an hr minimum each way, and my monthly travelcard would cost me £110. The journey on the Fly now takes me 30 mins, and the bike costs me £64 a month, plus about £6 a week in petrol. So I am saving an hr a day, and almost £50 a month.

Based on my experiences with the Fly, I am surprised it isnt more popular in the UK. I highly recommend it, am very pleased with my bike, and wish I had got one years ago!

Very Comfortable, Handles Road Well, Is Quite Fast

very comfortable, handles road well, is quite fast, gets you away from cars at lights & keeps you out of trouble. This is the best scooter ive ridden so far & ive rode a few in my time. If you like scooters as i do then purchase a piaggio fly 125cc,I dont think you will be dissapointed..

only one downfall, cold start in morning or when left for a few hours,,just twist the throttle three times & then turn her over,,she should start,i got the hang of it within two days,,apart from that little negative,,its a very good scooter..

just a great scooter all round really,,i absolutely love it,,nice sturdy tyres, good suspension,, lovely torque,, you actually feel safe when on the road,, and also very surprised at how quiet the engine is, ,and the brakes are just brilliant,, im currently runnin mine in until i reach 1,000kms, so im not asking it too much but i know itl deliver when needed,,worth every penny....
