Samsung LE40M86BD

samsung tv's are proving to be un reliable. my tv has lasted 20 months and now does'nt turn on it just keeps clicking . this seems to be a common problem if you research through diffewrent blogs and forums. YET SAMSUNG SAY IT IS NOT A COMMON FAULT!!!!! BEWARE IF YOU BUY A SAMSUNG......

would not recommend any samsung ever again. it tv's only last 20 months or so then break down. SAMSUNG NEVER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF IT.

ive had a 40" Samsung LE40M86BD lcd since feb 2006 and it's never been any trouble at all, pic still great.got a Samsung up-scaler DVD player and through the hdmi socket it's practically a good as blue ray.

having said that the sound on this tv has never been very good no matter how you set it up, seems the same on all slimline sets obviously because of the speaker sizes,

a friend bought a Samsung two months ago (37"lcd) and it stopped working completely in three days,returned it for a full refund and replaced it with an LG, so far so good seems by the rest of the reviews on here Samsung getting a bit sloppy with quality

i have had a Samsung LE40M86BD for 20 months and the picture has gone on it. called samsungs and dixon who i purchased it from and both companies refused to do anything about it. it cost nearly a thousand pound.

The Samsung LE40M86BD is a good tv excellent hd quality. A good tv but expensive...but you get what you pay for. HD good quality, ood sound

and good for gaming. A bit slow...its an LCD but not really noticable...not really worth mentioning

This Samsung LE40M86BD is without a doubt the best ever LCD TV i have ever owned.

the picture quality is incredible, and crystal clear with a good roof ariel and its inbuilt tuner.

obviously with sky+/HD it would be even more incredible.

The contrast ratio being 2million:1 is clearly obviously noticeable here, and the picture quality is very very impressive.

This model now comes with a mid range speaker built into the back of it, which is impressive, gives a bit of mid range bass to the sound. The sound is good if you go into the menu.

The tv itself looks very slick & stylish especially with its 'blue ocean' dark black perspex frame finish, and its inbuilt blue LED touch screen controls at teh bottom right hand corner of the screen.

I would definately recommend this model to buy, i believe it is the no1 on the market at the moment, way above the competition.

Only bad point is the remote control has a bit too many buttons on it, and its a bit long to hold.

I had this model for 17 months, and was exteremely happy with it untill it developed a screen fault.

I have noticed a thin black line appearing in the middle of the screen from the left hand side through to the middle.

its starts off about 1mm thick and thins out towards the centre of the screen.

I have no idea why this has occured, but the TV is only 17 months old, and i paid £1200 brand new in 3 yr warranty.

so i have arranged and inspection from an engineer, as it under extended warranty.

If anyone is considering buying any expensive LCD TV, please make sure you purchase an extended warranty aswell.

I will be renewing my warranty when it expires, as repairs on this type of tv can be very expensive outside any warranty.

Very impressed with this TV.

Samsung are aware of this fault and promise an "over the air" fix which will be transmitted sometime this October. Until that has been completed, this set fails to carry out its basic function i.e. to show clear, stable pictures from its own Freeview tuner.

That is why I have rated its image quality as merely average.

I would stress, that in most other respects (sound aside) this is a superb set, but not one that I can recommend. I look forward to the "over the air" fix, when this LCD will be able to perform as it was intended.
