Buy An A Class And Enjoy, But Don't Use The Merc S
Buy an A Class and enjoy, but don't use the Merc services! They are a big let down to the badge and they will struggle to gain return business...
Looks good and drives well, just don't expect to be looked after when it has a fault!
Hard on the road but I like that. Sporty feel!
£450 + vat 1st service, they will pick up and drop off your car (I should think so!)
If you have a fault (warranty) they will pick it up from your drive and give you a hire car;-) Then, out of the blue they tell you to return the hire car or pay the hire charge quick time...? Time off work to go pick up your car that failed under their warranty... ? (Why not return the car?)
Expensive service costs £450+ First service Oil and Filters...?
Then front disks and pads £350. RIP OFF! £150 local garage.
"It includes a 40+ point inspection on a car sir"? Its covered with their warranty, why do I pay for an inspection for faults on a car that they warranty...?
Use a local garage for service, it does the same thing only you don't pay lawyer rates for a fitter to bolt service parts onto your car!
Luxury cars yes, customer service very poor for the price you pay for the car!
Take out other warranty cover and use local garages for their servicing and you will have a nice looking car without the stupid running costs.
Slight wind noise from b post at speed but not that bad to complain.
Avoid the service at your Merc dealer, your car will still meet warranty if serviced by a reputable garage!
Had an Engine Mangement Light that came on out of the blue - the manual says it's a sensor fault - take it to a dealer. I wasn't near one so carried on with the light coming on for the next few days (and starts) (the bulb or LED is alright as it always came on when the lights check came on just prior to start up) and the fault has now gone !!!!! ? It is not somrething that's described in the manual that this fault light will rectify itself after a number of (successful) starts
Hi I bought an A180 CDI Automatic Diesel last year very pleased with it, am surprised how economical it is. I am not that convinced about the Mercedes Agents servicing either certainly in the UK. They are not cheap but then perhaps if one buys a Merc. I would however expect good value for money. Niggles none so far (Car now 2 years old with 26,000 miles on clock) there is a potential niggle - the engine management unit light is on - the owner's manual suggests that a sensor is not talking with the EMU or is outside it's normal operating parameters. Suggests visiting dealer. This could be expensive especially if dealer is a bit dozy. Wish could get an OBCD/USB converter for my laptop and the software to read the codes.

We Purchased A Used A180 Cdi Avantgarde From A Mer
We purchased a used A180 CDI Avantgarde from a Mercedes Main Dealer, we experienced a few small problems with the car which they are incapable of sorting out. The Mercedes staff are happy to lie to us, break every promise they make and even steal from our car when it's in the garage. Basically it's a good car let down by the worst customer service you could receive from any company in the world. Trust me on this Do Not Buy a Mercedes Benz.

Overall A Very Classy Small Car. I've Had The Ecu
Overall a very classy small car. I've had the ECU re-mapped to provide approximately 35% more power and torque than standard - well worth the cost of 350. The size of the A-Class is very deceptive, it feels like a much larger car to drive, with masses of interior space, but is actually the same length as a Ford Fiesta! My 05 plate 3-door A180CDi Avantgarde SE with 15,000 miles cost 10,500 in December 2007 and seems surprisingly good value for money (including panoramic electric sunroof, 6-CD autochanger and metallic paint). Cost new would now be close to 20,000.
