Ok, A Second Review Of A Centre Parcs Restaurant -
OK, a second review of a Centre Parcs restaurant - I make no apology.
This restaurant is our favourite. You start with a slab of bread baked on the premises and warm from the oven. With lashings of good butter, it's delicious!
There's a selection of colouring, reading books and other materials to keep small people entertained while you wait for your food - which can take time - as reassuringly everything is cooked to order.
The senior waiter is a darling, and the staff in general are excellent. Even on busy nights there's time for a bit of banter, and they take an interest in every customer. Customer satisfaction is everything!
My first meal was a fillet of Red Snapper, which was served on a bed of crisp mini roast potatoes, winter vegetables and spiced sweet potatoe. The spicing was a bit too much by the end, but the crisp skinned snapper was gorgeous. My wife enjoyed the daily special of lamb with pea puree mash, with a lovely rich red wine inspired gravy, which was good. My mother-in-law opted for the lamb shank, which came with a celeriac and potatoe mash and another lovely gravy - but totally different to my wife's, demonstrating that this wasn't a "churn-it-out" sort of place. The kids predictably loved their spag bol, which again was really good.
We returned a second night and I had a lovely pink duck breast on vegetables with a rich, sweet and sour plum sauce. My wife opted for a pork steak on mustard mash with a light appley gravy, and my mother-in-law opted for a steak, which she found slightly disappointing. The kids enjoyed again (I forget what they had this time) and we all polished off our deserts with gusto.
The house dry white is more than drinkable, and at £10, good value.
Main courses are around £14 and kids meals around £5. I'd recommend a visit if ever you're at Centre Parcs, and don't be afraid to dress up a bit! It's all part of the fun of it!
