Avoid At All Costs - Customer Service Horrendous
Avoid! We just suffered a sudden bereavement, and I notified Toyota Motor Insurance, and emailed them a copy of the Death Certificate, which confirmed me as next of kin who registered the death. A week later when I hadn't heard anything, I sent a chase-up email only to get an email back confirming that they hadn't cancelled the policy, but had instead posted a letter to my deceased relative, asking her to send a copy of her Will to confirm that I am authorised to notify them of her death?! The letter also made reference to a £35 charge to amend the policy, and penalty if a DD is cancelled (which it has been as her bank account is frozen).
Apart from the offensive and tactless Customer Service; the sheer lack of thought in expecting a deceased customer to confirm her details; the failure to contact the living person they do have contact details for to request more information...but why on earth do they even need further information, as she is clearly, legally confirmed as deceased, therefore no longer requiring insurance, and had already paid the (overpriced) policy in full?! Unbelievable...
