Our little dog had to be seen urgently due to a water infection. Due to the postal strikes before Christmas phoned Saga to advise documents for this claim would be sent after Christmas which was agreed. Just spoken to Saga to check what was happening with this claim only to be told the claim has been cancelled as we didn’t send in the documents in time. Explained the conversation we had about sending the documents late due to postal strikes but the agent refused to help any further. Will now cancel the policy with Saga. Very unhelpful.

Wouldn't Pay Out For Teeth Extractions
My Cat had to have all his teeth removed due to the Caliche Virus which caused severe ulcers in the mouth. vet recommended having his teeth removed to stop the virus from causing the ulcers anymore. I spoke to Saga before he had surgery and was told that yes it would be covered under my insurance, When I submitted the bill they declined it, saying "dental" is not covered, my vet then wrote to them saying it wasn't done for a dental reason as there was nothing wrong with his teeth but to help the cat recover from the awful symptoms he had from the Virus, removing the teeth was the only option. Saga still refuses to pay this bill. I think this is utterly outrageous. I have 5 policies with this company and will now look into finding an alternative cover for my other cats.

I have recently made a claim after the removal of a lump on my Parson Jack Russell dog. This Saga have declined there reason is I had a consultation with my vet back in September 2018 asking my vets opinion on the then small lump. No medication or treatment were given to my dog as the lump didn’t bother him but as time went by it grew and I thought it better to be removed even though it still wasn’t bothering him. Saga are now saying as I had this consultation they are treating this as a ongoing condition therefore not paying the £700 plus already paid to my vet. I just find this extremely hard to understand does this mean you can’t ask for an opinion from your vet for any reason incase the same problem has to operated on in my case years later.

Rubbish
tried to get insurance from Saga for my rescue dog. You would think that as they "pride" themselves in insurance for the over 50s they would have a smidge of understanding re older pets, especially when they are rescue animals who are generally older!!!!
Utter rubbish, they would not insure my beautiful dog as she was inconsiderate enough to be 9 years old.
Obviously against people getting dogs from rescue centres!

I found this Company to be both insensitive and take ages to pay your claim trying to get out of it if they could. I put a claim in May and received payment in July. When I lost my pet I found their letters insensitive and threatening.
I would not recommend them at all. They need to improve alot when it comes to dealing with customers who have loss a pet.
It turns out when it comes to your claims you are not dealing with Saga, customers might not realise. I didn't it was not very clear.

Deliberately Avoiding Payout By Any Means
I raised a claim in August for a small amount after the excess. It is now Mid November and I have been emailed that they cannot proceed because they have not received my pets history from three vets ago. I contacted the vet and they told me they had emailed it 3 times. Where to go from here? This despite the fact they have the history from 2 other Vets and the animal hospital. Nobody has contacted me any time and unless I phone them I have no idea what is going on. A complete shambles and an embarrassment for a company like SAGA who I would previously use and recommend without hesitation

Seriously disappointed with Sagas new pet insurer. Will not recommend then & shall definitely not being renewing my 2 dog policy with them. Have been with Saga for many years, this company is distinctly below what I expect from Saga.

I had insured my cat with Saga for approx. 6 years. Recently I put my first claim in for an eye operation. The eye condition was detected approx. 6 months prior to the op, they therefore didn't cover the claim as it was diagnosed before the operation. The cost was £1200.00.

Complete Rip Off
after 3 months they have not paid out my claim , don't ever go with them they are trying to find a reason not to pay out excuse after excuse, never ever heard so many excuses in my life with no past history regarding my dogs illness they still are saying the claim is being looked at how long do they need to look at it , even my vet is appauld , keep well away from saga .

Terrible !! Stay Away
We have had Saga pet insurance for 14 years, and whilst they were not cheap we chose them as a trusted, known name.
However after we lost our dog in July, the completed claim form reached them on 9th August and has not yet been dealt with!!
This is in spite of several telephone calls and promises to chase the claim up. Finally I called the Saga complaints number only to be told that the pet insurance was provided by a third party and they could only passs on the message.
I will NEVER use Sage again, I feel so let down.
