Rude Owner, End Of.....
Will not be going back here. Beautiful surroundings draw you in, but the man who runs this place clearly needs some lessons in manners. We sat close to a table where the people were being ignored, we didn't mind as we were only having coffee, but when they mentioned that they were being ignored, the owner stormed out and said that perhaps they should leave if they were not satisfied. I was shocked. Never seen rudeness like this before.
Strangely the people stayed, but one thing led to another and their food was under average, we watched them complain, we watched this same aggressive man approach the table and deny everything they were suggesting. He was so rude that I wondered why he ran this restaurant as he seemed clearly unhappy working there and was in need of anger management. His wife looked upset, but perhaps that was because he was screaming at her in the kitchen.
I would not recommend this restaurant due to the nasty staff. Its a shame, as its a nice spot.

Pushy And Overpriced
We arrived at 1.30 and they just seemed to want us out as soon as possible.Starter was average ,squid cooked in a heavily flavour masking tomato sauce. Followed far too quickly by the main course which was fish and very good.
There's a dog that goes in the pond and walks around the tables shaking off the dirty water, very cute but annoying. Nice surroundings especially outside in the sun. Bill was £100 for two including 4 glasses of wine.
Overpriced for what it was. I shan't go back in a hurry.

We Went There Once And Will Not Be Going Back. The
We went there once and will not be going back. The food was nice but overpriced, the atmosphere was very old and stuffy and as for the head chef... I think 'bully' is a good word after hearing the way he spoke to the poor waitress.
My advice - keep on driving.

My whole team went to Haxted Mill last Sunday for a team building lunch - I asked them to sum up their day in 3 words, and although some couldn't keep to 3 words, it was all extremely possitive.

Last Saturday, My Wife And I And Four Friends Went
Last Saturday, my wife and I and four friends went to Haxted Mill for a celebratory dinner. We have been going to the Haxted Mill for several years now and once again the restaurant produced a memorable evening. The service was attentive and friendly, the girls who waited on us were young but they were charming and looked after us very well. We started with some wonderful scallops with black pudding and this was followed by some of the freshest fish, simply cooked. For desserts my wife and I had a lemon posset that simply zinged across the palate. Would we go back? most definitely.
It is a great restaurant not only to eat but simply to sit on their terrace watching the Mayflies dance in the late evening sun. Foodie

We Booked This Restaurant For Our Wedding Annivers
We booked this restaurant for our wedding anniversary and couldn't have been more impressed, we were welcomed at the door and the service was impeccable. The food, my word, absolutely gorgeous - so tasty! reasonably priced for a decent restaurant. Choice of wine was as long as your arm and some classy numbers in there I bet! Will be definitely be going back again and have already recommended it to friends.

Love the place, love the food, love the people. been going for years and always had a great time with great food. It is lovely sitting outside in the summer, but also inside in winter. David knows his seafood and obviously has a great supplier. Would definitly recommend it.

Lovely Setting, Lovely Evening Completely Spoiled
Lovely setting, lovely evening completely spoiled by dreadful service. Waitress very young and sweet but completely untrained. Lots of waiting. Went inside because it go too cold outside and they ran out of wraps.
By contrast the food was excellent. However when we moved inside we could hear the chef' expletives especially about the waitresses - 'lazy cows'!!

The Scenery Was Great Overlooking The Countryside.
The scenery was great overlooking the countryside. The food however was not up to Michelin standard as far as our party was concerned. One of our guests ordered the Frito Misto (seafood and fish) Most of the fish was overcooked and the mussles were dry. The Skate wing had an odd amonia taste making it impossible to eat. The rest of the dishes were ok but not exciting. Sorry but wouldn't visit again.
