Awful Company - Rip Off Charges
Got a quote online and they called to arrange, price was a lot more than quoted (haven't had this before). Two months advance deposit paid.
Two months later, lost my job, had no money to pay so insurance was cancelled - charges for cancellation - another two months premium, which was huge anyway due to my young age.
Absolutely do not go with this insurance company, pay a little more if necessary to another insurance company. I wish I had looked on here first at the 90+ terrible reviews. How on earth do companies like this one manage to keep trading!

After Purchasing They Will Call Back To Rip You Off
I purchased insurance with this company yesterday. 20 min after I received a call to "confirm" my details. Aparently I typed some details wrong (I checked twice and made sure my details were correct) and they came up with a much expensiver quote. I said I would like to cancell and mentioned about the cooling off period and they said I could not unless I pay a £90 fee!!! The insurance hasnt even started and I call back to cancell withing a couple of hours from purchase. My insurance policy was expensive enough to have to pay more £657.00!! They are greedy and will use any excuse to rip you off. Be aware of the call back letting you know you got details wrong. Avoid this company! Nightmare!

Avoid - There's A Reason They're Cheap.
Motor Quote Direct were so difficult to deal with that I cancelled my car insurance policy within the cooling-off period and lost the admin fee just to get away.
I needed to make an amendment to my policy in the first few days of my policy. The administration fee of £35 was more expensive than any other company I have dealt with.
When I phoned with an enquiry about the cost to cancel my policy, they advised that I would need to email, however emails would go unanswered for 3-4 days.
They immediately cancelled my policy without providing a cost and when I called up, the refund they had issued was wrong.
Disaster from start to finish - avoid them, as it will cost you in the long term.

Admin Charge!
Early on in my policy I tried to change my direct debit date and was charged £50 to do so. Just cancelled my policy and was charged £218 to do that. On the phone for 40 minutes just to cancel my policy.
I tried to think of one positive about the company. I can't.

I got insured with My Motor Quot last week and the service was excellent. was looking for the right insurer for some time. When calling other insurers the price went up trippled fold. called My Motor Quot and they got me the price i wanted with no hassle. would recommend %100.
This has got to be fake.
Just wait until they start hounding you with letters and emails demanding ridiculous amounts of additional info that you've already provided. I was asked to provide another copy of my driving licence just 3 months after renewing. When I didn't comply within their timescales because I was away on business they threatened to cancel my policy!

NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY SINCE I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO TAKE OUT CAR INSURANCE WITH THEM. CRUX OF THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED FROM MY PREVIOUS INSURERS REGARDING MY NO CLAIMS BONUS. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAVE SENT EVERYTHING BY POST & EMAIL & TALKED ON THE PHONE. STILL WAITING FOR A FINAL RESPONSE FROM THEM. HORRIBLE FEELING THIS WILL COST ME MONEY IN ADD-ONS I CANNOT AFFORD. ONE RIPPED OFF 79 YEAR OLD. DISGUSTED.

I Would Rather Drive Uninsured!!!
Customer service is awful. Keep hounding you with letters. Apparently I've had a claim which I know nothing about so my premium is going up by 200£. This is nonsense and have no idea where they got this information from!
The letter that was sent to me could have been written better by my 6 year old with spelling mistakes so just goes to show level of staff they use.
They 'attempted' to contact me but I had my phone in my hand at the time and it rung once then they hung up! I think they want me to cancel my insurance.
When I called back spoke to a very rude lady who clearly didn't want to speak to me. When I didn't have my reference. I was shouted out what's your postcode! Terrible service.
Not to mention the amount of time you spend on hold to then be spoken to so rudely and hung up on! I mean put on hold for 5 minutes while they find my policy. This lady clearly had a grudge I didn't have my reference.

Absolute Rip Off!!
I hope they see this too! I took out a insurance policy with my motor quote in February and I've had nothing but trouble. At the time I took out the policy everything seemed fine, it was the cheapest at the time. And so I rang them and I would pay monthly but that's when I realised that i would be led up the garden path! The deposit was just under £500,and I hope I get this back! And every month I pay £157 but they have been threatening to cancel my policy because for some reason they haven't received documents and also I've just received points in my licence for a sp30 which apparently happened last year but only went to court last month and now asking for £174 or my insurance will be cancelled next week if I don't pay right now as well as the £157. Rip offs.

Admin Fees Decided By Broker On A Case By Case Basis!!
I purchased a policy in January 2015 with Bedford Insurance aka Motor Quote Direct. It was made clear at the time that I was changing my car and although newer it would be a lower car group. Apparently in the recorded message when I made payment it told me that they, as an agent, would charge me for any changes, namely between £12.50 to £200.00 (at their discretion) for a midterm adjustment or £90.00 cancellation in addition to whatever charges my insurers charged me. I knew that the annual insurance would be approximately £30.00 more a year so was astounded when I was told it would be an additional premium of £147.55 for the remaining 9 months. I was also told that insurers do not cover old vehicles for a temporary period pending sale. I told them I was collecting the car the following Friday or Saturday (3-4 days)and would call back. I decided the charge was not correct and emailed them to ask them to explain why it was so expensive. They didnt respond to the email so I called them & they advised they had applied a £70.00 admin fee on top of the £74.55 insurers charge but that they had now removed it. When I called back 3hrs later I was told the quote had now changed to £97.00, instead of calling the insurers to advise they had already quoted I was told that was it and I had to pay or my insurance would be cancelled. The subsquent phone calls have now initiated a complaint that will no doubt end up with the ombudsman. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE - insure your car with Highway Insurance through another intermediary. Their manager has told me they don't take their 15% commission on new business they use this to reduce the premium but should you make ANY change they will claw back the 15% discount and hit you with a potentially massive admin fee of up to £250.00!! Despite this being a very unfair contract, not in the best interest of the customer and certainly not treating the customer fairly they say they are fully FCA compliant - we shall see if they uphold this complaint.

Never Step On This Company
I was lucky, I didn't chose this company. I rang this company as I saw cheapest quote. When I rang, customer service was rude, they don't know how to behave with customer.They told me, I will have to pay £400 higher than the quote. 'Ok I will go on other', then they said, there are other companies like them. Avoid such liars.
