I Bought The Dv 2500 In August 2007 And Have Had S
I bought the DV 2500 in August 2007 and have had several issues with it. Luckily for me, i had the extended warranty which turned out to be quite useful. There was an overheating issue from the very beginning and sent in my laptop twice. There was a problem with the CD ROM for which the part was replaced once. Also, there were several times i had to call them about the same problem and they did suggest some measures that worked.
There was a problem with their power supply and that had to be replaced. The battery lasted for 2 1/2 years. Towards the end of the third year, there was a problem with the motherboard and the display and had to send it twice to be fixed. There haven't been any problems for 4 months now and i am quite happy.
I would definitely recommend buying the extended warranty if you buy the HP product. It makes it worth it. The customer support varies depending on who addresses the issues. Overall, i dont think i would go with HP again.

I am not gonna buy any HP in future and advise everyone else to do so
this review forces me to give minimum one star..else i would have chosen none

I Bought The Hp Dv2500 As A Back Up Computer And I
I bought the HP DV2500 as a back up computer and it was lightly used. About a year later, it started shutting itself down and now it will not turn on. I did a search on the internet and many other owners have reported the same.
The laptop failed a few days after the warranty was over and I contacted HP. HP responded by saying my warranty was over and that I should register on to their forums with their other victims.
I will be getting a product report on my defective DV2500 and I will pop over to the small claims court to issue a courts summons against the UK HP managing director.
Do not buy any HP products, they sell faulty goods and they are dishonourable. They are also sacking 7000 employees to service their share holders.
I found this review very helpful because...it reaffirms exactly my own experience with an HP Pavillion dv2500. I bought mine less than 2 years ago for over 800$; 6 months ago it started having problems turning on. I eventually deduced that it must be related to the fact that the machine would get really hot under the power-button area. It likely melted the soldering that held together some key wires. Sometimes, it would turn on after pressing the button about 50 times, or holding it down for literally 5 minutes straight. The last time I tried was a frustrating session of pressing it repeatedly for over half an hour, with and without the battery, and then the exhausting exercise of holding down the power button solidly for the same amount of time---nothing! After trying the same processes several hours apart, I begrudgingly acknowledged that this 800$ paperweight is completely a sunk cost.
BUT! I called HP Tech support, and was greeted by a reasonably helpful-sounding fellow. Hope! Alas, since the laptop was beyond the 1-year warranty period, I would have to pay 80$ for them to troubleshoot it *over the phone*!!!!! If I wanted to have it actually looked at physically, I would have to shell out over 300$.
HIGHWAY ROBBERY. When a business plan is built around the after-market repairs, you know something is very wrong with a company. Everything I've seen online, including HP's own support forums, seems to corroborate this as a very common experience as an HP customer! Products that don't last, with ludicrous terms of support.
A lawsuit is required; who will pay for HP's hubris?

Utter Useless Product, Utter Useless Support. For
Utter useless product, utter useless support. For a guy thats all stocked up on HP products I will never buy HP again! They refused to except liability for this laptop's faulty build re: the common overheating/graphics card problems. Their bespoke lines are style way over any form of subtance, and infact may amount more to con's. £700+ down the drain, and whats more every computer repair shop I took this evil laptop to laughed at me. Most of their laptop problems were from the same folks at HP, nobody reccommended HP but the sales guy I bought it from! Not even the HP engineer on the other end of the telephone!
My advice: STAY CLEAR and stay happy

First Of All, Let's Go Through The Stats Of My Per
First of all, let's go through the stats of my personal model of the dv2500.
4GB RAM
250GB Hard Drive
I bought this laptop back in March of 2008 as my very first personal computer, and I had always wanted a laptop. Being a high school junior now, speed and quality are things that are important. At first this computer was nice, because I hadn't found all the flaws hidden. And now I know why the best buy employee was pushing this computer on me so much. Its volume control designed for watching movies through quickplay makes my computer freeze every time I hit them. The graphics card must suck really bad because every time that I go to a website that requires flash or whatever, it runs really slow and SUPER laggy. And finally about two weeks ago the side of the screen on the right hinge cracked all the way up to the top of my laptop, making it so I cannot close it, or else it will break fully. Probably the only good thing about this laptop would be the pretty design/finish of it. I would NOT recommend this laptop to anyone whatsoever. Thank god I have the best buy product replacement plan, I'm going to trade it in for a macbook, I'm so sick of PCs letting me down.

I've Had This Laptop For About A Year And A Ha
I've had this laptop for about a year and a half now, and for the past three or four months it is starting to break. I can't do any work for school on it because it crashes so much (Which I scanned for viruses and spy ware, there isn't any). Also it took off my Microsoft word during a system restore. When it does work, it is very slow and frustrating to use. However, now I can't even get it to turn on.
It was a good laptop at first, but it doesn't last long and not worth the money I paid for it.

I Bought The Dv2500 In June Of 2008. By November O
I bought the dv2500 in June of 2008. By November of 2009 the left hinge, back cover and front bezel have cracked. I contacted HP and was told that the warranty had expired and it would cost $300 to have it repaired. After doing some research, I found out that they have a cracked hinge problem with their dv9000 series which they were repairing due to a Class Action Law Suit threat.
They will not own up to any issues with the Dv2500, although there are many people who have reported this issue at a website called notebookhingecrack.com
What boggles my mind is that how can such a big company deny fault? Do they have to be threatened by a lawsuit to take responsibility?
Also what bad business sense. Instead of repairing the laptop, which would cost them a fraction of the $400.00 they were going to charge me, they have lost a customer for life who will also tell others of my experience and deter them from ever buying an HP Product.

There Isn't Much I Dislike About The Hp Pavillion
There isn't much i dislike about the HP Pavillion dv2500, it works quite well and is stylish even though it doesn't play high graphics game as well. I guess it wasn't design for that but I am at University and this laptop is more important than anything in my room. I liked the resolution, overall physical design of the machine itself and the web cam. It is quite a bit faster than other laptops andsort of easy to clean.
