One Of The Acer's Budget Laptops.

The Acer Aspire has come in a few different options and of which, mine started off with an 80GB HDD, 1.86Ghz Intel Celeron, 1GB RAM and Intel X3100 graphics chip. Since then, it's been boosted to 3GB RAM and 2.00Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and has a 5200mAh battery which boosts from the original 2 hour max to 4 hours.

The laptop's standard spec is good enough for everyday computing and get's the job done with littlery effort. But if you're looking to have lots of applications open or intend to do RAM intensive activites then you'll have a struggle.

The best part if the laptop is the fact that doing upgrades is a very simple task and the performance difference is certainly noticable.

Good: Enough power for everyday tasks, easily upgradable

Bad, Battery life, Integrated graphics chip's mediocre performance.

I've bought 3 of these computers now and each of them have had a hard drive problem every time..... When you buy it its fine for the first few months but then I just ran into so many problems with it and as a result have lost all my work and memoriable photos/videos I cannot get back. I would definately say do not get this laptop!!!

Very Good Value For Money

I bought mine a few years ago new for £299.

No complaints at all.

It came with vista, which i found very reliable.

Since vista is going out soon, am banking XP pro will keep getting support from software manufacturers etc since so many people use it, so going to put in larger disk and install XP Pro.

Early Acer Aspire Had It For 5 Years Still Works But I Know

of common faults. mine wont run from the battery that is to say it wont charge the battery. these laptops have internal motherboard faults which cause them not to power up. i would reccomend you place it on a large book or so so the vents are not blocked! i cleaned the fan a year ago but its worth saying there is no smokers in our house so maybee that is why others are heating up. the day i got this i had vista removed and xp put on. best move i ever made :> this laptop is used daily and usually left on for weeks at a time great so far and its been about 5 yrs . the dvd cd drive went after 2 yrs on the down side i would like a new laptop this one is to old now mine now has 1gb memory bur was half that the 1st few yrs jged

This Laptop Comes With Windows Vista, Uninstall It

this laptop comes with windows vista, uninstall it pronto, xp or win7 is a safer bet, upgrade the memory to 2 gig and you have a powerfull laptop on your hands, battery life is extremely poor, screen is one of the best, but the inbuilt graphics are not good for gaming, i use for mixing music and its performed really quite nicely, on the overheating problem, just go to the acer site and download the Epowermanagement file, cause after installing a new os it will be missing, standard windows drivers will not be able to run the fan properly, overall its a bargain, it can be had for as low as 150 quid, just upgrade the memory !

I Owned This Laptop For Only 5 Months And Closed T

I owned this laptop for only 5 months and closed the top down and the next day opened it and the screened was cracked above the right hand hinge. Was told it was not covered by warranty. This is a real disappointment in this product. Wouldn't recommend or tell anyone to buy this brand ever, ever, ever. Didn't stand behind their product. B.C.

I Have Mixed Feelings About The Acer 5315.ive Had

I have mixed feelings about the Acer 5315.Ive had it for about 3 years. It was considered fairly good at the time,it has a 80g hard drive and one gig of ram and although there was laptops more powerfull and with bigger hard drives at the time it was probaly the cheapest compared to others with the same spec.Ran with no problems for a while but like all laptops, its only getting slower.Havent had any problems whith the keyboard exept the d key which occationaly lifts up but it is 3 years old.Screen and display, also no problems. After about a year or so I noticed that the hinges were opening at the back which worried me but have had no further problems. Its pretty slow and is getting gradualy worse and now when i click on a link i have to reload the page a couple of times before it opens. Its bulky and heavy which is'nt a problem for home use but forget it if your thinking of taking the Acer 5315 away with you. When I brought it I thought 80g hard drive would have been suffiecient and as any laptop user knows you collect programs, software and files which over the course of a couple of years easily eats up your disk space. The battery power is bad and has got worse since new,now I can probably get two hours max once fully charged out of it which is'nt a problem for home use but go into a enviroment where you cant charge it and it's a pain.

Overall

If you are sombody who is easily wound up by slow laptops do not buy this.Although I am impressed it has lasted this long but compared to modern laptop its very slow.Basicly it was ok at the time, has lasted a while but has insuffisient storage and ram.Would suit kids as first laptop.
