High Winds Blew A Brick From My Chimney And It Cau

High winds blew a brick from my chimney and it caused damage to my sunlounge roof. Rang up to Red Star and was fobbed off. They say that it was not stormy enough in my area! Average wind speed was only 30+mph. They class storm as 45+mph winds. The key word was average and not gust. Will be shopping for a new insurer next year or might just not pay for insurance at all. Just another rip off racket.

Appalling Thay Basically Try To Avoid Paying

Appalling

thay basically try to avoid paying as much of the claim as possible- and want a receipt for something that I have had for 35 years

Tried to fob me off with cheap jewellery from a catalouge- under valued the claim By £2500 and then over inflated the prices on the jewellry by 3x in the catalouge. made out there was a limit on my policy cover of £1500, when it was actually £2500. I had to send them the evidance of their own policy!- I tried to leave them 0 stars

I found this review helpful because...it indicated I could have trouble if I had to make a claim

Nice To Speak To People In The Uk.. While The Cove

Nice to speak to people in the UK.. While the cover is cheap, you need to remember to check the policy wording. I made a claim and found the staff friendly - however they stated from day 1 there were limits to the policy, and i should have read these before.. however they settled the claim quickly and with minimum of fuss and all staff were polite. while some people want all aspects covered, its worth remembering you pay for what you get, and this was cheap home insurance. if you are on a budget or looking for cheap cover - then you will not go far wrong .

When My Home And Contents Insurance Was Up For Rev

When my home and contents insurance was up for review I used go-compare to find me the cheapest. The cheapest was through the Policy Shop and Equity Red Star Insurance. I have never made a claim in all the years of having home and contents insurance.

My bicycle was stolen from the Garage. A Kona Kula I wouuld consider it a mid range bike with a total value new being £1250 with all the extra bits. It is 3 years old. I put in a claim with a crime reference number and passed over all details. 3 months later I was still waiting for news on my claim, I chased them several times to be fobbed off within their own depatments of TCF Household and the Equity Group.

I did not have a receipt, it was 3 years old! but I did provide a letter from the guy who serviced it stating which bike it was. After 3 months of being told everything is ok and an offer will soon be out to you i was informed my claim had been rejected and they were going to pay me nothing! well thanks a lot Equity Red Star, thats what I pay my insurance for eh! Please if you read this prior to getting insurance DO NOT USE EQUITY RED STAR for anything, they do not want to pay out!

Whilst Overseas I Was Burgled. The Thieves Forced

Whilst overseas I was burgled. The thieves forced entry to the the house causing about £2k worth of damage and stealing about £3k worth of electrical goods. The police were called by a neighbour, and they pursued (and lost) the burglars. You would think this would be a pretty straight-forward claim.

4 months later and my claim has STILL not been settled. My claim has now been handed through two external companies. The last - a loss adjuster - recommeded that my claim be settled. However, Equity Red Star are now querying their own loss adjusters findings. They apparently think the settlement was for too much! Meanwhile I have no TV or other electrical goods and I've had to pay myself to fix my busted front door.

Equity Red Star have been appaling. Their "emergency" helpline is open 9-5 Monday-Friday. Customer "Services" are rude and unhelpful. They seem to make it their business to obstruct any customer from claiming against their policies.

It's the last time I buy insurance on price!
