Sold A Pony For £4500

Bought a second hand caravan for £4500 under lockdown conditions (sent videos) as was not allowed to view due to Covid restrictions.

Told that caravan was in excellent order with no faults whatsoever.

Transpires after 1st service that van is riddled with damp. There is no way they could not have known this fact.

Cost to remedy circa £900...

Contacted Canterbury Caravans and they will not discuss this with my qualified caravan engineer or send out one of their own engineers to my address (less than an hour away by car) to look at van.

In short they do not want to know.

They were all too happy it seems to untrue to my face at point of sale to sell me something completely unfit for purpose...

Do your homework when buying from these shady folk. Take along your own technician at point of sale and do not take their word for anything.

CAVEAT EMPTOR Better still give them a wide berth completely. I've been shorn.

You fail to mention in your review that you have owned the caravan for 2 years and have not had it serviced until now. Yet, despite this and your very rude manor , I have offered on two occasions to inspect the caravan in order to find an amicable resolve.

The caravan was sold to you in Feb 2021 for £3995 with a 3 month warranty with a full sales inspection carried out at that time. The caravan is a 2004 .

Having been trading for 27 years and employing extremely experienced engineers together with an excellent customer service record I am disappointed that you have not given us the opportunity to assist you further but have decided to take this route.

Buy With Confidence

Bought our used twin axle Bailey just under a Year ago from here. Noticed over the Summer that the floor had delaminated slightly, and the slightly erratic fridge light had failed.

Booked it in for a service and mentioned the two items as warranty repair expecting a bit of resistance as it was an older van.

Picked it up today, all sorted, no quibbles at all under warranty.

Engineers and staff are extremely helpful and appear to know what they're doing, the shop is well stocked and prices are competitive.

I'd expect any dealer to be able to supply a used 'van with a smile, it's when issues arise that a dealer shows their worth so I certainly won't hesitate to use Canterbury caravan sales for the next upgrade.

Excellent Service , Nothing Too Much Trouble

I have used this company many times over the last 20 years and can't recommend them highly enough. They are always very helpful and will always go that extra mile to make sure the they give great customer satisfaction. I wouldnt use any other dealer locally.

I think the fact that they are a family run business means that the staff care that little more.

Anything Is Too Much Trouble!

I went to Canterbury Caravans in Island Rd a few days ago to buy a new TV for my Motorhome. After an initial good impression talking to the salesman, an older lady came out to "help" me.

I asked about a couple of tv's and I could see she was losing interest as soon as I didnt buy the first one she showed me, which was too big. I then asked about a TV signal finder. She told me this wasnt Curry's they only sell what I can see.

With that, the two of them left the sales floor, retreating into an office, and I was left wondering if they were going to come out and show me something else.

They didn't, so I left empty handed.

I took my business elsewhere. On the positive side, they must be making enough money at the start of the season to not have to worry about customers......
