Cerise Restaurant & Bar at The Forbury Hotel

My husband and I visited 'Cerise' on our wedding anniversary. The duck I ordered was swimming in blood (can still taste it in my mouth) but when I very politely asked the waiter to cook it a bit more, he said that the duck will not be tender and I will not be able to eat it. Mistake number one: never, never talk back to the client as the client is always right. While I was waiting for my main, I tried my husband's dish which was pork belly with mash, very tasty indeed, though the mash was a bit dry. The duck finally arrived cooked and I was able to eat it, although it was nothing extraordinary. The dessert was divine (panna cotta with pineapple and sorb ). Mistake number two: we were hopelessly trying to get our waiter's attention to order another cocktail and, later, to pay. Please note, there were only 2 other tables being served at that time. The decor was pleasant, modern and fresh. This is the best restaurant that Reading can offer and we certainly did not expect what we eventually got for our money. Recommendations, change the chef, better service. Also, the restaurant would benefit from a better variety of dishes as the choices are limited!!
