I have worked the nuts of this saw over 6yrs and it has never let me down other than needing a new spark plug, bar and chain which is normal.

Good Little Saw
Had my mac 7-42 for 4 or 5 years. have replaced guide bar once and fuel lines once (chewed by mice one winter) Never had problems starting even after winter shutdown of 3 months. used very regularly from march to november.

This Mcculloch Mac 7-42 Chainsaw Can Only Be Said
This McCulloch MAC 7-42 chainsaw can only be said to be suitable for a DIY / gardener. It is built for the home logger only. If you need a saw to tackle regular work or felling trees,spend more money and buy a more professional make.
Had my 7-42 for 4 or 5 years with no major problems. replaced the guide bar and fuel lines (chewed by mice one winter) It is used regularly over the summer sawing for winter a year in advance. I cannot fault it !!

I had no problems starting or running the saw and your clearly not using it properly if the chain need replacing often
