Poor Communication
I haven't even gone on holiday with the company yet- we depart on Sunday and they are impossible to get hold of.
Countless emails and phone calls with no reponse at all.
god help us.
Ocean Elements Were Amazing
I stayed with Ocean elements in Porto heli this year and it was very good, the wind was perfect for all of us, the hotel nice and staff excellent.
I have to say that we've also stayed in Vassiliki with them and it too is very suitable for the family and all levels. Yes the wind gets strong in the afternoon, but that is only from 3:30-4pm onwards for three hours of the day as the thermals wind releases its daily build up of pressure!
So, for the entire morning and much of the afternoon the beginners and intermediate sailors had a great time in light and slowly building wind. Then the experts get out after lunch and the thrill loving experts wanting a blast go out again after 3pm. Yes, I t is a high wind resort for a small part of the day, but it is also a great beginner spot too. Every day beginners and low intermediates are on the water and for most of the day too!
Ocean are a great company, with some of the best standards, kit and teaching (and I've been to a few companies!). They seem to be made up of fun loving are very professional staff that cant do enough for you.... they have a great company ethos... not too cool for school, like some companies can be, and certainly very helpful.
We did in fact stay on what they call a stay sail holiday so we did a week in a yacht first, which the kids loved, then a week at the beach club. My five yr old raved about the kids club and I loved the great boats they have there!
Brilliant - we will be back. In fact might try Pelion, their LEDA club next time. Tip, travel in June or early July if you can as the prices are much cheaper!
Thinking of going skiing with alpine elements who seem to be their parent company. I've heard good things about them too.
Slave Labour
I recently went on holiday to Tignes with Alpine Elements, the holiday was decidedly average, the chalet was nice but very small for 10 people. But the thing I really struggled with was the amount of work expected from one chalet host. We felt guilty being provided with the service you'd expect. My not cheap snowboard bag was broken by a host while being lifted into the transfer bus without an apology or admission. I felt so sorry for them I didn't say a word. The distance from the chalet to the main area of Tignes was very much exaggerated on the website. We ski at least twice a year and are used to an array of holiday budgets. Alpine Elements was by far the worst value for money we've ever got.
Dont Book With Alpine Elements
I booked with this company via my travel agent a few years ago, we booked a chalet in La Plagne in the French Alps, the chalet was listed as have all the rooms ensuite, which was important as all our group were couples. When we arrived none of the rooms had ensuite. It turned out that one of the directors friends had been moved in our chalet and we had been allocated a lower quality chalet. They had simply switched the name plates of the chalets and thought we wouldnt notice.
After returning I looked at trip advisor and saw 100s of really bad reviews, so Im suprised to read only one (and good one at that) on this site.
I dont why they are listed as a walking company, I think they only offer sking holidays!
We are very sorry to hear that you have had a disappointing experience with Alpine Elements in the past.
We offer a variety of holiday throughout the year which include ski holidays, active holidays and water sports holidays. There are plenty of recent reviews of all of these holidays from guests that have stayed with us.
You don't mention if you wrote to us with a complaint at the time, we always appreciate the opportunity to respond to any guests that may be dissatisfied with their holiday so that we can try to put it right.
If you would like to get in touch with me directly I would love to find a way to regain your trust in Alpine Elements.
