This Is My 2nd Set Of Maxxis Supermaxx Tyres Fitte

this is my 2nd set of maxxis supermaxx tyres fitted to a cb750f2n retro. Its quite a heavy bike so I need a hard wearing tyre. Supermaxx wear well and evenly across the tyre, seems odd though as I find they are quite a soft compound, I ride all year round and find these grip excellent in both wet and dry conditions. In two emergency braking situations they also gripped well and never skidded. They are excellent value for money tyres, a good bit cheaper than the well known equivalents. Will definitely buy again and would encourage any biker to try them.

Good Value Long Lasting Tyres

I purchased my Honda VFR750 F-T with these already fitted and half way through their life. I've put 1500 more miles on them so this is what I can say about them.

They seem to last very well and wear evenly across the tread. The front is 3.3mm in the centre and 4.2mm on the sides, the rear is 2.5mm in the centre and 3.8mm on the sides. So generally wearing quite evenly across the whole tires front and back.

The front has an uneven wear pattern where each block of tread is stepped(high at the front and low at the rear) but doesn't really affect handling as far as I can tell. Not the first tire I've had to do this, in fact a lot of the earlier Bridgestones suffered this, 014, 016 etc. so it's not uncommon. Just a wear characteristic of that design of tread.

Grip in dry is good, I've not pushed them hard, maybe about 70%, and in the wet I've had no slips. A very good commuter tire with long life. And around £160 a pair is easily £40 cheaper than most big name brands.

Downsides? They are soft compound(yet strangely last a long time), so I do get a lot of little stones imbedded in the rubber I dig out, so they suffer cuts much more than my other bikes Michelin Pilot Road 2's. But on par with my another bikes Bridgestone BT-023's(centres wear out quick on these tires on the rear!).

No punctures or repairs.

Overall recommended and are very good value with long life and good wear across the whole tread.
