I booked a large van for a weekend to move house from the Brooklands branch of the company for £124 (2016) Positive point : Good quality vehicle.

They asked for my landline phone number and when I said I only had a mobile number and we had not required a landline in our house for the last four years, the woman (who I was not even talking to in the first place) jutted in and said tersely : "You can't hire one of our vehicles without giving us a landline number"

However, when I offered my Brother's MOBILE number, they accepted that for the hire. Where is the logic here...?! This was not pointed out on the website during the booking online process.

I have NEVER, EVER been asked for a landline number in addition to a mobile number as the NUMBER ONE condition of vehicle hire.

Upon returning the vehicle, I said that I had left considerably more diesel in the tank than it had when it was presented to me, but when I asked if a nominal amount could be refunded to me to allow for this, the same woman, again tersely and unsmilingly, cut across the man serving me to simply say "Nope"

I accepted this, but it was just this incredibly terse attitude, coupled with the fact that the vehicle hire is expensive anyway, and the fact that they kept me waiting some time as they went over the condition of the van with a fine tooth comb on its return (which already had a nasty gouge in the side by a previous customer, so was not presented to me in immaculate condition in the first place), which left me feeling annoyed.

It was as if they really didn't want anyone hiring any of their vehicles and then seemed desperate to find the slightest mark on its paint or bumpers -which they thankfully didn't!!!

Not impressed. Not recommended.
