Do Not Use Locauto

Rented a car in Italy but had to pay a huge price to have the car vacuumed after repossessing. Do NOT use this company.

Poor Quality Car

Be aware that the tires on their small cars are not in good condition and they will charge you to repair them upon return. I rented for 22 days and the first car I was given immediately started to alert that the tire pressure was low. I had them filled up every day, but one of them did not hold the pressure.

I called LocAuto at Florence airport to report the problem and they substituted the car.

I've not been charged their cost to repair the tire on this original car.

Quite the sham if you ask me and their customer service person hung the phone up on me.

Needless to say, I will not be renting from them again.

Fabricated Documents !!!

I rented a car at Venice Marco Polo airport. When I returned the car the agent inspected it inside and outside, and told me everything was in order and that I am all set. When I asked for the documents before leaving for my flight the agent pointed to his tablet and told me that it is electronic and that I will receive the documents in a few minutes by email. No documents arrived even after I had enquired what was going on. Almost a month afterwards I received an email from the local provider claiming that there was damage to the car, that I was informed of these damages when I returned the car, that I signed documents acknowledging said damage, and asking for payment. They fabricated a paper document with my signature acknowledging damages. They charged my credit card for 17070 Euros. Credit card company refuses to cancel the transaction.

It Is A Big Shame That A Rating Of Minus One Billi

It is a big shame that a rating of Minus One Billion is not allowed, as that will be a perfect reflection of the experience we had with Locauto Rent Spa in June 2023.

The staff of their Pisa airport branch fabricated evidence and took 435 euros from us for car damages we never did.

I highly recommend to everyone to use other Car Rental companies.

And to get fully insured, in case they also steel your money.

We liked Italy and we were planning to visit again, but having been robed by this Italian car rental company has left such a bad taste, I do not think we will ever visit Italy again.

Really big shame this exist and continue to take from their innocent customers.

But at least I am warning the future ones, not to make the same mistake like us, and to hire from them.

If I had time to read the reviews, I would have definitely not hired from them.

Car Never Rented Or Available And Still Charged

I rented a car through Expedia for Locauto. My flight was delayed a day. I contacted them when arriving from a 10hour flight and was told I was a day late. When I explained the problem I was told the car I wanted wasn't available and they had no car for me. I asked to cancel my reservation and was referred back to Expedia. I was still charged for the car and have since filled against Expedia who said they also would not refund the money. Locauto would not release our phone conversation to Expedia to verify my information and phone call. I will never use Locauto or Expedia again. I used Sixlt and had a great experience. Go elsewhere for your car rental needs. They want the money and don't have the cars or customer care.

Extra Charges For No Reason!!

The car had an incredibly cigarette smell, no one came to see the car, they told us they had no time and there wasnt another car. No one came to note the car damages either. When we returned the car we explained to them and everything was fine.

After a few days, they charged our card for damages that did not exist !!! And two inclinations that we got to pay to the municipal police for parking..

40 euros beacause of the inclinations. Thats unbelievable!!

Don't rent a car from Locauto. We rented a car from them and paid for road recovery insurance. We endet up with a flat tyre and got to their nearest garage. Apart from the tyre, everything was ok, their staff confirmed, we were covered. 2 weeks later they charge us €300 for nonspecific extra damage. When we got the car, they did the checking with an iPad - we never got the document. It seems to be their business model. TripAdvisor and other forums are full of similar cases.

The Worst Experience Ever !!! I Booked A Fiat Pand

The worst experience EVER !!! I booked a FIAT PANDA. They asked me if I want extra insurance or just basic…and I went with basic. Afterward, they asked me if I wish an ulgrade to a better car, an Audi A3 for only 3 euro, for being their customer for the first time. I agreed, went to the parking lot and checked the car. It had minor scratches on the bidy which I acknowledge. when I brought back the car, they checked thoroughly and after 15 minutes found a 0.5 cm SCRATCH on the windshield. I could barely notice it, even in the light. They said that this was damage caused by myself, that the windshield had to be fully replaced and that my insurance doesn’t cover it. And guess what ?? My deposit was for 500 € and the cost of the damage was 495 €. I swear that this people pulled one of the ugliest and meanest tricks. this is their agency in Treviso airport, so please AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!

Unfortunately I did not read these reviews before rented with this company. Our experience was almost identical to reviews described below.

Obscure parking location which took us.45.min to find. Late fee of 1 additional day levied. To add.to this claim for damage that was pre existing and also a cleaning fee.

Seems they work within the 500 euro credit card security so they can extract your money and there.is.little you can do about this

Very simple: returned the car with 2-3 liters missing from the full tank (unfortunately the next gas station was not accepting CC), I was debited 50€. To avoid!

Destroyed My Holidays

I had a very bad experience after renting from this company.

I rented a Scoda Octavia for 5 days to travel around Sicily. When I returned the car, I had broken a rear light and scratched the rear bumper. I thought the damage would not be considered too serious. At the end of the day, it was a scratch by touching the car behind while parking on a tight space, and after research I found out that a new light replacement costs 80 euros.

To my surprise, when I returned the car I was asked by the guy that checked the car to pay 825 euros for the damage. The scratch was reported as a “severe dent” and the light would cost 325 to replace! I complained, and tried to explain that I was being overcharged. Another inspector came by to support his colleague and complimented me with a “vaffanculo”, in front of my wife and 2.5 years old son - I didn’t forget to return back more generously.

I denied to pay on the spot in order to apply for legal support, or discuss a more fair settlement with the company. Free legal support that I was seeking proved to be ineffective, and the car rental appeared to be too stubborn to negotiate. So after a few days I decided to give in and pay the whole amount in order to close the case.

The lesson I learned from this story is to only rent from the big guys, and make sure you buy an insurance too.

I rented a car from Locauto, Milan exactly 4 years ago. Now a mail with a request for administrative fee for handling a speeding ticket (which alreday has been payed) of about 50 Euro has arrived. Can hardly believe a company has such a slow administration handling. Can this be right?

we had the same - but as we had handed the car back earlier than expected the speeding ticket was for an hour after we had given the keys back :-) Seems like alot of people seem to have got these on the way to the airport. Maybe a way to keep costs of actual hire down ? They took the money off our credit card but we spoke to the credit card company and they refunded it and not heard anything back
