Expensive Doors That Won't Last

I bought a door from Global Door September 2011. The doors are very expensive in comparison with other similar companies out there.

The door was installed and everything was fine until 2 years later when the locking mechanism failed and we were locked out- Global Door did get a locksmith out to us within a few hours- the entire locking system had to be replaced. When we bought the door we were told that it was so expensive due to the quality etc.

Here we are in 2017 and I contacted them again for the same or similar fault. Firstly you are unable to talk to anyone issues and complaints have to be sent via email or post. I sent an email and straight away was told nope we won't help.

The door was sold with a 10 year warranty- but it seems that the warranty only covers the plastic that the door is made from ie the glass/locks/mechanism is not covered- I checked all the paperwork I had from Global Door and the only mention in the warranty is a 10 year warranty- no mention of anything else. The company then sent me some new items hidden away on their website stating that they don't cover the other items (none of this is on my warranty information).

Keep away from this company they are expensive and the the products are of a poor quality that wont last.

Transparent Pricing, Good Value, And An Honourable Company

We had a composite door and fanlight with decorative glass from Global Door, with a custom colour on the inside of the door and frame as our hall has a lot of wood in it and a white frame would have looked out of place.

We had approached other companies such as Anglian, Everest and more, and no other company came remotely near for being able to supply what we wanted, tell us what we were going to get, and what we were going to pay, let alone give such a competitive price too. Global's prices are transparent, which is a breath of fresh air compared to the competition.

The decorative glass in the fanlight turned out to be a poor artistic and colour match with that in the door, but Global have refunded what we paid for that and offered to fit a replacement double glazing unit in the fanlight free of charge, if we get one made. Even though that happened, I still think they are a great company, because they are straight and honourable and treat you fairly.

The door is lovely and the fitters remained cheerful and polite and stayed until 1900 to finish it, as they had some problems to overcome with the installation (which had been anticipated on the survey visit). They made a nice job of it.

Global told me they won't be doing decorative glass in fanlights any more, but if that's what you want, you could go for plain glass in the fanlight, then get a custom decorative double glazed unit made to match the door, and have it replaced, as it is relatively easy to replace the double glazed units. I have been quoted £71 by a glazing company to make such a replacement unit for a quite big fanlight to my own design.

We were possibly a bit picky, wanting custom colour inside and a decorative fanlight to match the glass in the door, but none of the other companies we tried even came close to providing it at twice the price.

Very Happy Customer

After much debating and surfing we plumped for a Global door and couldn't be happier (and no before you ask, I am not an employee or in any way connected to the company).

Global doors were extremely helpful on the telephone giving advice and sending a sample straight away and the installation was done immaculately. I didn't even need to clean up after they had gone and the door looks lovely.

The product wasn't cheap but we wanted something which was draught-proof (unlike our previous wooden door) and looked good too and I think it was money well spent.

There was a slight delay in fitting because the door hadn't arrived with [Link] (the fitting company) on the due date, but I got a phone call first thing to tell me they weren't able to come and they turned up as promised on the revised date 3 days later. Would happily use again

Smooth Installation

Very pleased with the whole process, from the website entry, clarifying with their Sales (Andy) aspects of the installation, follow up with Sales afterwards. The fitters were also polite and professional. Door is very good quality, very pleased with it. We also went for the keyfree system and are very happy with that as well.

Failure To Follow Instructions

Unfortunately I cannot report very favourably. I specifically asked for the installation of my door to be delayed due to a change over of tenants in the property and associated implications for availability of funds. In reality this turned out to be only a matter of 2 weeks. Meanwhile however, and against my express wishes Martindales organised installation directly with tenants within 2 days. I then spoke with the GD Directors and explained my irritation, it was agreed that funds would not be taken until a specific date later in the month. Within 2 days however the final section of the invoice had been taken from my account causing bank charges and great frustration. Martindales themselves also have a poor customer service manner by phone.

This is NOT an example of good customer service and a pity as the product itself is good.

A friend of mine told me about global door, he had his fitted by them. I used there website to pick my door, even picked a number and knocker very simple site. The door was fitted 7 days after I ordered it and looks great, mine is the only red door on our street!

I had a composite door on my old house and wasn't made aware at the time it was only a white door sprayed red, it was very easily scratched. The door these guys use are solid and don't scratch, I think the plastic they use is actually the colour of the door. So beware not all doors are the same.

Second Door, Unsure Link Between Fusion And Global

This is the second door purchased fom fusion web site. First door is a fusion one with Yale locks and got guarentee documents etc and love it so went back to you to get second door. For some reason this one is global and came with different lock nd no guarantee docs. The company have been excellent however giving us the exact design we were looking for however the fitting has been a mare with martindales coming back next week a third time to hopefully get it fitted properly which is frustrating. The door came without the proper stuff to fit glazed panels and it seems a bit of a bodge job by martindales so perhaps would not return to global/fusion .....
