Comfy Fast Tourer

Great engine with decent torque. Watch out for fuel line leaks make it a pig to start. Just replaced all on a 55' plate. Otherwise a great solid car with many features especially in Avantgarde trim. Offset wheels assist the handling, just make sure your garage don't mix them up!!

Superb Ride For A Large Coupe

Lovely to drive, handles beautifully and is so planted on the road. Economy is good but the 5 pot engine can sound a little unsophisticated until moving. Be careful of stood cars as the seals in the high pressure fuel pump can fail and leak, not drastic but a new pump from Merc will cost £400 plus fitting. Had a new pump and the engine 73K miles was a transformation. I particularly like the manual mode, so quick to get a move on without the need to ;kickdown;.

Happy Motoring

Was persuaded to buy diesel, wife and I fell for this silver CLK 270 with two tone leather interior. It had done 93,000 miles but expected to spend a little to get it right.

First trip to garage, fuel leak from piping (rusted) and rear shocks needed replacing. Uneventful till after a holiday found rear tyre flat but no puncture. Seems to be a problem with some alloys as one or another tyre will be flat after a break. The tyre man said most of his time is spent fixing this.

Decided to replace the alloys with 16" ones and Continenal winter tyres, originals were 18" staggered. Use them all year round as suggested by tyre man (a friend by now) as he and his family do. So far no complaints with tyres and I have driven to Mabella Spain where temp is around 30*. The tyres have lasted well as the car has now done 130,500 miles.

After 4.5 yrs, two fuel injectors needed replacing, discovered during B service.

Apart from the above the car has been reliable comfortable and golf friendly. Four of us travelled to Spain with our golf gear and luggage. Tankful to tankful the consumption is about 37 mpg. I has seen an indicated 60mpg when driving under 65 mph on motorways but that would not be enjoying the car.

Best Car I Have Owned To Date

I bought my car from a dealership in West Drayton after big problems with my 5 year old Peugeot 407 sw. I was impressed at first sight with the stylish lines of this lovely looking clk 270 cdi she is a 2003 model with two tone grey leather interior, and silver in colour. After a test drive I agree with other reviews that the sport suspension can be a bit hard, but the cornering is good, and the ride comfortable. The fuel consumption even on a car that is 10 years old is 50+ to the gallon, yes I do not drive her hard hence those figures. You certainly feel the class when driving a Mercedes and have signed up for a service contract with our local MB dealer who are very supportive and helpful. It has been said that once you drive a Merc, you will not want anything else, I agree with that emotion. Good points are the build quality, the engine, the styling, the driving experience and the peace of mind of the German engineering. Bad points NONE !!!!!! We love our Merc..

Merecedes Clk 270 Cdi, Stylish, Classy, And 50mpg!

This was my boss's car, I'd always said that when he came to p/x it I would match the p/x price that he was offered. And why not, I knew the car's complete history and the level of MB dealer service it had received - he used to take it main dealer for replacement brakelight bulbs!

The car looks fantastic from every angle in it's brilliant silver paintwork, and the leather interior makes the miles disappear. I still get a kick from having the car 'hand me' my seat belt, and the way that the front and rear windows do their little dance when a door opens or closes.

The car's 5 cylinder engine is as has been said before a little agricultural in the mornings and at traffic lights, but once warm and on the move it's not noticeable, the weight of the engine does make the car a little nose heavy and demands a little respect going into fast bends. The car has the 5 speed auto box and whilst there have been some moans about the car being slow of the line compared with later models both myself and my driving license are more than happy with the cruiser nature of the car. I particularly like the cruise control and it's license saving counterpart in the speed limiter for use in 30/40 mph zones (I currently have 6 points on my license so ensuring I don't pick up any more).

Why only 4 stars?

The car came with the factory fitted sports suspension, which is a little too low for me, and has the back end a little skittish

Ok, But Not In Cold Weather We Bought A Clk27

OK, but not in cold weather

We bought a CLK270CDI avantgarde with all the extras from a MB dealer for my wife and she likes the car a lot. Good performance/economy for a diesel, and 4 good adult sized seats, and good boot space. Good leather interior sounds etc. The MB satnav is prettty feeble and had we not bought used, I woudl not have chosen it as an extra because the disc has to go in the stereo to load the map info and the display is primitive. It gets you there though, but a tomtom or garmin is better as an aftermarket add on.

The car does get through tyres and they are not cheap. Ours is not driven hard but it has gone through a set of continentals in about 20K which is not great.

the thing that you really need to think about before you buy one of these is whether you need to drive it in snow or bad winter weather. The car is heavy at the front and rearwheel drive so if there is a hint of a slippery surface it just will not go anywhere at all. We will have to sell ours as having moved to a hilly/mountainous region of the UK it is just not usable for a few weeks in the winter.

If this is not a problem it is a good buy at about 50K miles plus when the bad depreciation has happened. Very reliable and comfortable, but just no traction in snow.

Got My Silver 270 Cdi From A Dealer In Edingbough

Got my silver 270 cdi from a dealer in Edingbough with 35000 miles had it a year and have done nearly the same mileage again by running up and down from Beverley to Portsmouth. Very happy with MPG which is normally between 51 and 54 MPG. I have got the manual 6 speed gear box which I beleive will return a better overall MPG than the auto gear box.Good torque and acceleration you would not think it runs on derv. Very relaxing to drive and so far no complaints apart from tyres seem to wear very quickly. Great car that still looks modern next to a 2010 E class equivalent.

I Just Bought A 2003 Clk 270 Cdi With 78k On Clock

I just bought a 2003 Clk 270 cdi with 78k on clock. Its beautifull and a superb driver with lots of torque. Today i drove it easy and on high gears and after 2hrs and 20 mins of mixed but easy carefull driving, 122 miles, it averaged 56.1 mpg. This is the truth. I was amazed at this return. Never over 70mph and never over 2000 rpms.

I bought this car with a handbrake problem. The pin that keeps the dividing couplin for the cables to the back wheels has fell out and lost.Is this hard to repair and can it be expensive? Would like to know before I take it to the garage.

Someone may have had this problem in the past. And what problems should I look out for in the future, if any?

Thanking anyone that may have information on this.

I Have Had My Black 270 Cdi For 3 Months Now And G

I have had my black 270 CDI for 3 months now and getting 39 mpg combined and 50 mpg on the motorway. Look out for the front driver and passenger windows which are prone to wear. Had my drivers window repaired at a cost of £175 which was not covered under the Mercedes Approved Warranty. Then had a Air Flow sensor replaced which was covered, thus saving me £446. Overall the car is great and is very comfortable with a few extras like heated front seats which are great in the cold weather. The car also looks sleek and sporty and gets noticed by other drivers. If I had one slight niggle it's not that easy to get into the car without scuffing the bottom of the door trim which can lead to dirty marks being left on the trim. For the money £12,000 for a 5 year old car which had done 39,000 miles it's well worth the money compared to the usual Ford, VW options.
