My Perfect Bike
ive had 2 hondsa xr400r i had a 2001 and a 2005 model love them both minted condition but am 5,8 and there very tallbikes. the 2005 bike had a mikuni pumper carb on it which ran much better no throttle delay but i prefered the standard carb when trailing there is much better bikes out there but i only love the honda xr400r models

Buy One!
Being 16 I have not ridden as many bikes as maybe some adults but I have ridden a fair amount and I must say that I love this bike more then my yz450f i use for motocross. Its reliable has some nice low end and when im done on the trail I can just ride home without the fear of being pulled over. The only complaint i have was the front fork but i got that fixed by revalving it. The breaks are nice and strong they could be a little better. Mine I bored it out to a 420 put a stage one cam into it and jetted the carb and took baffle out of the exhaust. Love the bike!

95 Xr400r
I recently sold my XR400R and miss it already. Reliable, low maintanance and plenty of juice with the exhaust de restricted. Smooth on the road and heaps of grunt on the dirt. The fuel tank eventually gave out, new one necessary. Motorcycle goodies had all the OEM parts online including original tank stickers. Honds kept the same design for a long time for good reason, they got it right!!! CM

Love My Xr 400 !!
Have been into bikes since in was 14 yrs old - 49 now, the xr 400 would be the best bike i have ever owned, having owned quite a few different bikes over the years.
I have a set of "fat" bars fitted, heavier springs in the front end ( found it was a bit soft for my liking )a power pipe and the best mod of all, was to fit a Mikuni pumper carbi to sort out the slight hesitation when cracking the throttle open, now the power is instant !!
The only thing i don't really like is it can be a bit difficult to start if you stall it.
I used to race years ago, and found i spent almost as much time working on the bike as riding it ( i raced a KDX 200 2 stroke )the xr is very simple and easy to work on, to me the fact that the bike remained almost unchanged for all the years it was made, says to me that Honda got it right from the start!!

Orsam Power Quick Around Track If You Can Ride!
I have a 97 xr400 and do both trail and track riding.Best out in the bush through rivers and hill climber, go out with guys on crf's,wr's and drz's all are 450's exept wr which is 250.My bike goes everywhere these bikes go pulls up hills better and best of all cost a heap less.MIne starts after 3 kicks when cold and first kick once warm.If I drop the bike and flood engine not so easy, I tend to face back down hill roll start back down hill and come back up again. At the track I can keep up with all but the very good riders, you know the ones there are always the quick young guys who arn't scared of getting hurt. Not blowing my own horn the guys on motocross build bikes smoke me but I can keep my own with the average to very good rider, just have to trust the heavy girl and slide around the corners. Not the best jumping bike tend to bottom out on the bigger jumps maybe the combined weight go bike and my 110kg's is too much for the standard set up. Last of all highly recommend xr's, goes anywhere and pulls my big backside around easily.I live in Australia and this bike dosn't mind the heat.

I Was Into Motocross For Many Years And Aways Took
I was into motocross for many years and aways took the p-xx out of four strokes saying "I'll never get one of those!!!"....I think back to those days and have a proper good laugh at myself for being led by all the other 2t sheep. If I knew what I know now I could have saved myself £ £ £ £ £ £ in repairs, pistons, main ends etc etc.....If you want one of the most reliable enduro bikes out there, grab a good xr, you will have all the fun at a fraction of the cost.

Can't Think Of Another Bike I'd Want To Replace It
Can't think of another bike I'd want to replace it with. Brilliant build quality and finish. Unbreakable engine/transmission. Parts availability very good, both OEM and aftermarket add-ons.
